IMHO suggesting that the archive link is misplaced is silly. Consider the newbies posting questions to the list which they can find answers for easily by doing a search on zope.org. Would you say the Search field is too hard to find and needs to be moved? (Tim - don't be offended, this is not directed at you). Re: [Zope-dev] how can I fill to frames in on dtml-call ??
by Tino Wildenhain 26 Apr '01

26 Apr '01

Hi Robert, this is not zope-dev related so I move it over to zope-list. However, filling two frames the same time is a faq. If you really need frames, you can update all at the same time if you have the target of links and forms to _top and send the frameset again. Alternatively you can break up your frameset into smaller parts, e.g. use a frameset which devides top and bottom and then another to devide the bottom frame into navigation and content. This way you only have to address the bottom-frameset to make the changes. window-target: - Header did never work so far as I tested years ago. HTH Tino Wildenhain --On Donnerstag, 26. Question about logins?
by Steven Grimes 26 Apr '01

26 Apr '01

I have a situation where I need to be able to programmatically add users to the ACL_Users on three different Zope machines running three different apps. I don't think Zeo will work for this because they all run different apps. (Please correct me if I'm wrong here) Specifically what I'm trying to do is write a management interface on one of the Zope machines that will add permissions in certain databases(got this part working) and to add the user to ACL_USERS on the three different Zope machines. I have successfully written code to add a user to the current machine. What I need is a anyway to access the acl_users.manage_users() method on a different Zope machine. I've been reading the email archive for hours now and can't seem to find a solution to my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Andy, The ASP session object is quick and easy but it doesnt scale well at all due to it being a memory hog and it isnt an enterprise-wide solution for security reasons. But, definately need some "canned" ZOPE solutions to describe how to a) handle session via something like a session object and b) show the bonus of decreased memory usage and increased security with a ZOPE session "object"... RE: [Zope] Debian zope2.3.1 installation powerpc
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 25 Apr '01

Much of Zope is written in C, thus compiled. There should be a deb for 2.3.0-4 at the very least for ppc under Deiban unstable (I installed this on my Mac/Linux laptop a few weeks ago). I know that the deb for i386 is now updated to 2.3.1-1, but I'm not sure how package maintainers ensure builds on all platforms on Debian (personally, I'd like to know, becuase I am planning on running Zope on Debian systems on both the intel and sparc platforms). Bottom line, you do need a platform specific deb, or get the source install and build it yourself.
