[zwiki] seeking zwiki-virtual hosting problems
by Simon Michael 27 Apr '01

on http://zwiki.org/VirtualHostingSummary : Cf "virtual hosting leads to broken urls" on LinkProblems. I'm trying to get a handle on this situation now. Here is my guess-recollection of the key points: <snip> So I'm ready to write unit tests, except I'm still too confused. Do we have a problem ? Would you post or contact me if you can produce a failure with 0.9.x code (http://zwiki.org/zwikidir/releases/ZWiki-0.9.2.tgz) or share some insight ? Thanks! - Simon

sending a mail in a ZClass constructor
by Jerome Alet 26 Apr '01

26 Apr '01

Hi, I've got a MailHost in a Folder, which works fine when sending emails with methods that are in this Folder. Now I want to send an email every time someone creates a new instance of a particular ZClass, so I've tried to call a method in the Folder in question in the MyClass_add DTML method in my ZClass definition. I've tried both <dtml-call "mymethod(_, REQUEST)"> and <dtml-call mymethod> but with no luck: The problem is that the MailHost (called MailHost) is not found (KeyError), but mymethod is found, it seems. FYI mymethod is just some DTML code containing a dtml-sendmail tag and a message body, and works when launched directly in the Folder. Does anyone have any idea ? Thanks in advance Jerome Alet

Wrong <base href=""> for .HTM file
by Loren Stafford 26 Apr '01

26 Apr '01

Look at this pywatch output below. When I request a file that ends in .HTM the <base> tag ends with a / which confuses the browser. The browser makes all relative references in the .HTM file (<img> tags for example) relative to http://localhost/Engineering/LSFReports/cibhrm6.HTM/ not to http://localhost/Engineering/LSFReports/ as you would expect. When I try this with a file that is named with a lowercase .htm extension, no <base> is generated, and the browser fetches all relative <img> tags just fine. I tried to figure out what HTTPResponse.py is doing with <base> but didn't get far. Does anyone else understand what's happening? -- Thanks -- Loren ==> GET /Engineering/LSFReports/cibhrm6.HTM HTTP/1.1 ==> Accept: image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-powerpoint, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/msword, application/pdf, */* ==> Accept-Language: en-us,ko;q=0.5 ==> Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate ==> User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 4.0) ==> Host: localhost ==> Connection: Keep-Alive ==> [0.030 - Server connected] <== HTTP/1.1 200 OK <== Server: Zope/Zope 2.2.4 (binary release, python 1.5.2, win32-x86) ZServer/1.1b1 <== Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 01:40:34 GMT <== Content-Type: text/html <== Content-Length: 13850 <== Last-Modified: Wed, 25 Apr 2001 23:41:43 GMT <== <== <HTML> <== <HEAD> <== <base href="http://localhost/Engineering/LSFReports/cibhrm6.HTM/" /> <== <== </HEAD> <== <BODY BGCOLOR="FFFFFF">

Re: [Zope] field names of a database table
by Dieter Maurer 26 Apr '01

Jan Kubatzki writes: > how can i find out the field names of a table of a database ? Most Zope Database Adapters support the "browse" tab. It shows you the available tables with their columns. The database itself surely has means that lets you analyse the datamodel. In Oracle, for example, the command is named "describe". Dieter

It may help, if you address the right frame directly: localhost:8080/manage_main instead of localhost:8080/manage If you are lucky, you need to do this just once (per session) and can afterwards use the normal "manage". membership directory
by shomon＠softhome.net 26 Apr '01

26 Apr '01

Hi I'm working on an open source project to create a membership directory tool for voluntary organisations. I've recently decided on Zope as the best platform to develop on, and I'm trying to find out if there's already a project vaguely similar to mine (eg: a generic directory product, or even something else that is database backed and deals with sensitive personal data). Also, since I'm thinking of releasing this as a zope product, is there a standard way of doing this, and of publicising this within the zope community? A description of this project can be found at http://mandible.sourceforge.net/ I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, and if anyone would like to help, please get in touch! I've tried searching on the zope site, but found only the "boring-0.1.tgz" product pages, and an old but more complete manual on creating products. I apologise if this isn't the right place for this kind of question. Ale -- Alejandro Fernandez, Bsc Computer Studies Glasgow Caledonian University 0790 541 8809 / 0141 586 3913
