PythonScripts kill Traversal?
by The Doctor What 23 Apr '01

I moved some of my favorite scripts from PythonMethods to PythonScripts. It's very nice. :-) But now my view_source doesn't work. It isn't much more than what zope.org has: http://docwhat.gerf.org:9673/view_source/view_source However, it doesn't work for Python Scripts! Example: http://docwhat.gerf.org:9673/breadcrumbs/view_source It is as if it ignores the view_source at the end. Very bothersome. Why is this? Is this something I have to manually include in each and every Python Script I write? Or what? I'm using Zope 2.3.1 Ciao! -- Counting in octal is just like counting in decimal--if you don't use your thumbs. -- Tom Lehrer The Doctor What: Second Baseman http://docwhat.gerf.org/ docwhat(a)gerf.org KF6VNC

Seems some background reading about the "in" attributes are recommended. What about the Zope book or the DTML section of URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html You will learn there, that there is a "reverse" attribute. There are many more - for your requirements of tomorrow.... Dieter

If it gets Unicode (and Brian told us that Ultraseek will probably return Unicode strings), then there may be problems with the conversion to normal strings. Most can be resolved by defining the "default_encoding". Some community member (I think Toby) has provided patches and documentation on how to run Zope truely in an Unicode environment. Dieter

The standard "core" UserFolder is not designed to add additional information to users. There are however lots of third party products that support this. Search zope.org. The currently favoured solution is "LoginManager". We use GUF (Generic User Folder). There are many more options.... Dieter

Should work for Debian install's dir strucuture setup, at least it does for me under Debian woody/unstable runing the 2.3.0-4 deb package: /usr/lib/zope/zpasswd.py -u superuser -p [password] /var/lib/zope/access You will need to be root to do this, which the Debian install runs zope under :( Sean -----Original Message----- From: Farrell, Troy [mailto:troy.farrell@wcg.com] Sent: Monday, April 23, 2001 7:47 AM To: 'basicprinting(a)earthlink.net'; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] Debian zope2.1.6-7 installation, can't login 1st acces s Basic, I am not very familiar with version 2.1.6, so I cannot help you specifically. I can however, recommend that you upgrade to a later Zope version. The latest stable version is 2.3.1 and is available at http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1/ If you move to a newer version and continue to have difficulty, I'll be happy to help you troubleshoot it. I can't seem to get it to do anyhing. http access is messed. when I type $ lynx http://localhost:9673/ I do not get the Welcome to Zope screen I get a password prompt which doesn't accept my Super/Emergency/Administrator/accessfile username & password. repeated attempts get a 401 error screen, which says I am unathorized I have tried all the suggestions in the /usr/share/doc/zope/README.Debian.gz (All the archived messages I've run across reiterate these changes I've already tried.) $ /usr/sbin/zopectl stop $ /usr/sbin/zope-zpasswd username: superuser password: admin123 encoding: SHA domains: $ chown -R www-data.www-data /var/lib/zope/* $ /usr/sbin/zopectl start Starting Zope . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . done. #but it still doesn't give me the welcome screen and demands name/passwd $ lynx http://localhost:9673/ unable to access without authorization --retrying username: superuser password: admin123 denied 401 errorscreen Unauthorized ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- boring newbie's details of machine's setup follow ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Started with a virgin Debian Installation: powermac 7200 (ppc601/75) Format HD and install Base System CD- binary-powerpc-1.iso 08-Dec-2000 default stable archive Installer prompts for additional software, from the SimpleTaskInstaller I chose Newbie Help and Finished the install. (this is the cleanest install I've figured out as a newbie) login as root Modify sources.list point to debian.org site $ apt-get update $ apt-get -u install python-base finishes successfully $ apt-get -u install zope works away then... gives me message about changes to ports, etc then prompts for username & password. and starts up Zope successfully. At least that's what it thinks $ lynx http://localhost:9673 should at least give me the welcomescreen. but I get - cannot access without authorization I immediately stop zope with /usr/sbin/zopectl stop and then make changes suggested in README.Debian.gz as mentioned above. _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

The "tree" command definitely needs ids for the objects as it uses them to code its state. But you can redefine which method is used. If your objects are "Aquisition.Implicit" instances, they need not define the method themthelves but may acquire it. Dieter

Tane, Try this: <dtml-with news> <dtml-in "objectValues(['Legion News Generator'])" sort=bobobase_modification_time reverse> <dtml-var content_html> </dtml-in> </table> </dtml-with> "bobobase_modification_time" and "reverse" are pre-defined attributes you can pass to the dtml-in method. More at: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/AppendixA.dtml Good luck, -Darin Tane Wrote: > >Hi there, > >Long time listner, first time caller. > >I have bastardised the Job Board system as a simple news posting system, but >I am having a problem. User's authentication
by Fabio da Silva Santos 23 Apr '01

hi people, I'm trying to build a login routine in Zope. I have a few users registered in a certain folder with a profile that I created, and I'd like to authenticate them with a form that I made. Does anyone know which Zope method I'd have to use to set the necessary parameters? I've looked into the source code but couldnt find anything. Thanx,

security with dtml-in next-batches variable
by Randall F. Kern 23 Apr '01

Why doesn't this work: <dtml-in expr="_.range(100)" size="10"> <dtml-if next-batches> <dtml-var expr="_['next-batches'][-1]['batch-start-index']"> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> (it results in Unauthorized, from line 168 in ZopeSecurityPolicy) However, I can dtml-in over next-batches: <dtml-in expr="_.range(100)" size="10"> <dtml-if sequence-end> <dtml-in next-batches mapping> <dtml-var batch-start-index> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> (this works fine, but will be needlessly slower than just <dtml-var>ing the correct value.) Thanks, -Randy
