page templates!?
by daniel dias 19 Apr '01

forgive my ignorance, but I do not obtain to make my templates to function. template does not read the data of the master template. I have master template: <html xmlns:tal="http://xml.zope.org/namespaces/tal" xmlns:metal="http://xml.zope.org/namespaces/metal" metal:define-macro="master"> <head> <title tal:content="here/title">The title</title> </head> <body bgcolor="#999999"> <div metal:define-slot="main"> If you supply a tag with a 'fill-macro="main"' attribute when using this macro, that tag will replace this text. </div> <p tal:content="structure here/ZopeAttributionButton"></p> </body> </html> and template: <html xmlns:tal="http://xml.zope.org/namespaces/tal" xmlns:metal="http://xml.zope.org/namespaces/metal" metal:use-macro="here/define/macros/master"> <head> <title tal:content="here/title">The title</title> </head> <body bgcolor="#999999"> <div metal:fill-slot="main"> <p>Welcome to the machine</p> </div> <p tal:content="structure here/ZopeAttributionButton"></p> </body> </html> template would have to read slot " main " but this is not happening when I call template above it only shows the text " Welcome you the machine ". shouldn't appear " If you supply tag with ' fill-macro="main " ' attribute when using this macro, that tag will replace this text. " too? template isn't reading master... does anybody knows what is happening? I already tried many times to make this example to function but I did not obtain... Performance and Server Requirements
by Chris Gray 19 Apr '01

19 Apr '01

I'm looking for information on Zope performance and server hardware needs. I need info on what size of site and volume of traffic can be handled by Zope and at what point it is recommended to go up to ZEO. I'd also like good recommendations on specs for a Linux server to host a Zope Web site. Thanks, Chris

>>self.uploadImage(obj=self.i.filename%d %(f) >Hugh, what strange expression is that? It's an... home-made expression designed to meet a personal need. >It is parsed as >(self.i.filename % d) % f >What you probably want is >getattr(self.i, 'filename%d' % f) getattr is what I want. I realised later that this problem was similar that the one you already fixed... Thanks a lot, Yannick

If you go through one, try to set your client to passive mode. FYI: If you're using linux (2.4.x), the module ip_conntrack_ftp just monitors destination port 21 by default to do it's magic, so it works for "normal" ftp, but not for zope's default non standard port. cheers, oliver

hasRole (Bug or My brain is dead?)
by The Doctor What 19 Apr '01

Okay, I have this in a dtml method called by a dtml document... (This does the same, btw from the dtml document directly) <hr> <dtml-var expr="_.SecurityGetUser().getUserName()"> <br> <dtml-var expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRole('Manager', index_html)"> <br> <dtml-var expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRole('Manager')"> <br> <dtml-var expr="'Manager' in _.SecurityGetUser().getRoles()"> <br> From a non-logged in browser I get: Anonymous User 1 1 0 From a logged in browser (with Manager Role): docwhat 1 1 1 The problem here is that AUTHENTICATED_USER does *not* have the role of 'Manager', despite zope's claims to the contrary! I have tried swapping in and out _.SecurityGetUser() for AUTHENTICATED_USER and have made sure this isn't a caching/proxy problem. Am i brain dead here? This is zope 2.3.1 I am currently using the last one (as it works) but shouldn't the first ones work too? Ciao! -- A hacker does for love what others would not do for money. How to install gvIB on win2k
by Uwe Fechner 19 Apr '01

19 Apr '01

Hello everybody, I had many difficulties with this installation and want to make thinks easier for others, so I wrote this little how-to: How to install gvIB 0.96 on win2k: ================================= 1. Install interbase server 6.x and copy the file employee.gdb into the folder c:\database 2. Copy the folder gvib as folder into the folder c:\programme\website\bin\lib (replace website with the name of your zope-website) 3. Decompress the dll in the file gvIBBASE.zip and copy it into the gvib-folder 4. test the installation with python on the command prompt: cd c:\programme\website\bin python Python 1.5.2 (#3, Mar 8 2000, 16:34:52) [C] on sunos5 Copyright 1991-1995 Stichting Mathematisch Centrum, Amsterdam >>> import gvib >>> db = 'c:\database\employee.gdb' >>> cn = gvib.connect(db, 'sysdba', 'masterkey') >>> cn.close() >>> ctrl-z RETURN If there was no error, continue: 5. copy the folder gvibDA into the folder c:\programme\website\lib\python\products 6. restart zope 7. look at ControlPanel/Products wether you see the product gvibDA and wether it is not broken (the symbol) If it was installed correctly: 8. add a GV Interbase Data Connection to any test-folder within Zope. Use the following connection string: 'localhost:c:\database\employee.gdb sysdba masterkey' ufechner(a)4commerce.de
