I tried to reproduce your problem in my ZopeCVS: Apparently, the construct requires "Access Contents Information". When I withdraw this permission, your problem occured. For me, "View" permission was not relevant. Dieter

Weird permissions problem.

I have a problem which I'm struggling to even put it into words, but here goes. I got a new CVS version of Zope this morning. Compiled on Linux (RedHat 6.0) no problems there. Logged in as the admin user and created a new Manager. Closed browser, logged in as Manager. Put a SiteRoot in, works fine (done all this hundreds of times before) Change the index_html so it looks like this: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <a href="&dtml.url-login_html;">Login</a> </dtml-var standard_html_footer> Created the login_html (dtml_method). Changed the permissions so that anaonymous couldn't view it. Tried viewing the index_html, which to my mind should have worked but it didn't. I got a traceback: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. KeyError Sorry, a site error occurred. Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: ApplicationDefaultPermissions) File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: index_html) File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: index_html) File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 193, in __call__ (Object: index_html) File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: index_html) File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 186, in __call__ (Object: standard_html_header) File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: standard_html_header) File /usr/local/trial/Zope2/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Var.py, line 276, in render (Object: login_html) KeyError: login_html Now maybe I'm wrong but shouldn't you be able to get the url of a page even if you turn off view permissions? Someone please help, I'm getting slightly confused here.

persistence problem with python product
by zope-mailinglist 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

hello I made a python product class which inherits from Folder and is persistent. Then ive made a helper class, see the listing (ive tried with and without inheriting Persistent) , the CommonPropertyContainer is now an attribute of a Class called Site: class CommonPropertyContainer(Persistent): "a container for properties" def __init__(self,id,title): self.id=id self.title=title self._properties = {} def setProperty(self,id,title, value): self._properties[id] = {"title":title,"value":value} def setPropertyValue(self,id,value): self._properties[id]['value'] = value def getProperties(self): return self._properties.items() ___________________________________________________ now when i change values via the setPropertyValue(method) the new values get lost when I restart zope I dont know but I heard that objects used by a class which is persistent are automatically persistent too please help

Child/Parent Object Searches
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 18 Apr '01

I'm not quite sure that Zope is the tool for this problem, so I'm asking the experts. This is the problem. I have a PAT object, this PAT object is a folderish thing that can contain other PAT objects (as children of the parent) and also PRIO objects, which pertain to the particular PAT. The hierarchy can look something like this... PAT_1 -- PRIO_1, PRIO_2, PRIO_3 | +-- PAT_2 -- PRIO_4, PRIO_5, PRIO_6 | } | +-- PAT_3 -- PRIO_7, PRIO_8, PRIO_9, PRIO_10, PRIO_11 | +-- PAT_4 -- PRIO_12, PRIO_13 I want the users to be able to load various PRIO objects into a particular PAT folder. Moreover, and most importantly, if I am viewing the PAT_3 object, I need to be able to list all of the PRIO objects in all of the other related PAT objects (i.e., get a list including PRIO_1 through PRIO_13). Is there some type of query statement (to the ZODB) that I could return such a list? Cheers, Ron

<SELECT> box value missing from REQUEST namespace
by Cotten Blackwell 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

Folks: Looked hard and long at the archives and saw a few remotely relatedly threads, but nothing this simple and this befudding. For some dark reason beyond my newbie ken, a previously functioning form and form handler combo is now kaputt. What seems to be happening (the bizarre part) is that the value of a form select box is not appearing in the REQUEST namespace. As soon as I click the submit button, the form handler hits a line with <dtml-var REQUEST>, and you can see that neither of the select variables, selectDepartment or selectHandset, is present in REQUEST: form initUserDir 'Set Up Contacts for This User' deptDir 1 fleetID 8 commonDir 1 userName 'Count Zero' ------ Here's the form in question: <form name="addRecord" action="" method=post> <table width="100%" bgcolor="white"> <tr><td align=center> <table width="75%" bgcolor="#000000" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=1> <tr><td> <table width="100%" bgcolor="white" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0> <tr> <td align='right'> User Name:</td> <td>   <input type="text" name="userName" size="24"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align='right'>User Number:</td> <td>   <dtml-comment>Need to fight about this UI issue later... <input type="text" name="phone" size="24"><br><br> </dtml-comment> <select name="selectHandset:int" size="1"> <dtml-in expr="selAvailableHandsetsAll( fleetID = fleetID, handsetID = 0 )"> <option value="&dtml-id;"> <dtml-var phone> </option> </dtml-in> </select></td></tr> <tr><td align='right'> Department:</td> <td>    <select name="selectDepartment:int" size="1"> <dtml-in expr="selDepartments( fleetID = fleetID )"> <option value="&dtml-id;"> <dtml-var name="name" capitalize spacify> :<dtml-var id> </option> </dtml-in> </select></td></tr> <tr><td colspan=2 align=center> Build User Directory from:</td></tr> <tr><td align=right> <input type="checkbox" name="commonDir:int" value="1"></td> <td> Common</td></tr> <tr><td align=right> <input type="checkbox" name="deptDir:int" value="1"></td> <td> Department</td></tr> </table> <input type="hidden" name="fleetID:int" value="&dtml-fleetID;"> <dtml-var name="addRecordActions"> </td></tr> </table> </td></tr> </table> </form> ------ Any ideas how this might happen, or how to start digging at the solution? Thanks in advance for any help with this! Cotten Blackwell

It seems like dtml-with is unable to find my images > folder?? I tried to reproduce your problem (Zope CVS) but was unable. Everything works as expected. Are you sure that "Foo_dtml" is a DTML Document (and not a DTML Method)? If it would be a DTML Method, then it might find an "images" in "Subfolder" which does not contain your image. Dieter

You may try to add: 127.0.0.1 localhost to your "/etc/hosts" file. Dieter
