Hi, I have install and compile the Zope server. You answered: > I use it on win2k all the time. What is the exact connection > string you're using? Where > is the database on your system? My connection string is: c:\database\employee.gdb sysdba masterkey Im an running IB 6.01 Server locally. The following code at the command line works without problems: cd c:\programme\website\bin python Python 1.5.2 (#3, Mar 8 2000, 16:34:52) [C] on sunos5 Copyright 1991-1995 Stichting Mathematisch Centrum, Amsterdam >>> import gvib >>> db = 'c:\database\employee.gdb' >>> cn = gvib.connect(db, 'sysdba', 'masterkey') >>> cn.close() >>> ctrl-z RETURN It's a type 1 database (IB5 compatible). Any idea? Best regards: Uwe Fechner

Date Problem
by Ron Baum 19 Apr '01

19 Apr '01

I have just discovered a problem in the date that is displayed in Zope. I have some things that put date/time stamps in my database and then I can display these in a report later. When I display the date I use the following format <dtml-var datevalue fmt="%m/%d/%Y"> the dates are not correct. eg. 3/26/2001 8:36 PM is displayed as 3/27/2001 instead of 3/26/2001. The date value is not always 1 day off sometimes it shows the correct date. I think it has something to do with the time. I checked the time zone settings on all my servers and personal machine. System: NT 4, Zope 2.2, FoxPro 5(not my choice) Thanks in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------ Ron Baum Database Engineer Accelerated Technology, Inc. 720 Oak Circle Dr East Mobile, AL 36609 Email: rbaum(a)atinucleus.com http://www.acceleratedtechnology.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------ "Nucleus. Python Script Problem
by Chris Withers 19 Apr '01

19 Apr '01

The following code: chars = '23456789' chars = chars + 'ABCDEFGHJKLMNPQRSTUVWXYZ' chars = chars + 'abcdefghijkmnopqrstuvwxyz' chars = list(chars) gives me: File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.3.1b1-src/lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/Guarded.py, line 189, in __careful_list__ TypeError: cannot convert string to list What could be insecure abotu turning a string into a list of characters?! cheers, Chris

html version of zope site
by Carlos Costa Portela 19 Apr '01

19 Apr '01

Hi! First of all: We have a client that (because of lame internal policy) will not be able to install zope on the final server. However, they _do_ want zope as a publishing solution for a web that will be practically nothing but dtml docs, images, and folders. They're only intested in accessing the web interface to modify text in custom zclass product interfaces we will make for them. Provided that there are no complicated methods integrated into the zope structure, is it possible to generate a navegable static html version of a zope hierarchy? Our idea is to let them access our server to manage and edit content and to give them a publish option (written in python or perl) that generates the html and ftps the site to a remote, non-zope webserver. The day that the client wants a more dynamic site with searching and such, we would discuss installing zope again on the remote server. Please give me your thoughts on this workaround solution. thanks, -- [morcilla(a)ketden.com chikoon]$ whoami Mike Blake

PUT_factory to create ZWikiPage by default - help
by John Hunter 19 Apr '01

19 Apr '01

Following the advice of Dieter Maurer and Tres Seaver I am trying to use PUT_factory to override the default object type and create a ZWikiPage when I create a page by ange-ftp. Because I am a zope and python newbie, I am having some trouble. I will detail what I did in hope that someone can offer me some guidance 1) Created a 'Python (Script)' object in my Wiki folder and named it PUT_factory with empty 'Parameter List'. This may be part of my problem; what is the parameter list for PUT_factory? I also tried 'self, name, typ, body' 2) Added the following content to this file: #Implement the "hookable PUT" hook. import re, ZWikiPage TEXT_PATTERN = re.compile( '^text/.*$' ) def PUT_factory( self, name, typ, body ): """ """ if TEXT_PATTERN.match( typ ): return ZWikiPage( source_string='', __name__=name ) return None 3) Tried to create a ZWikiPage from emacs using ange-ftp but got an error 426. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, John Hunter

RE: [Zope] Custom unauthorized message
by Randall F. Kern 19 Apr '01

This doesn't seem to be working on my 2.3.1 build, running either with or without -D. If I try to get an unauthorized error (for example, /manage, then press cancel), I get the ugly page from ZPublisher. Any ideas? -Randy > -----Original Message----- > From: Chris Withers [mailto:chrisw@nipltd.com] > Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2001 11:44 AM > To: Andy McKay; Menard.Jean-Francois(a)hydro.qc.ca; zope(a)zope.org > Subject: Re: [Zope] Custom unauthorized message > > > > <dtml-if "_.str(error_type)=='Unauthorized'"> > > <dtml-var standard_unauthorized_message> > > </dtml-if> > > When did that start working?! > > cheers, > > Chris > > > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > (Related lists - > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) >
