UserInfoFolder - bug? I think yes
by Danny William Adair 05 Apr '01

05 Apr '01

I installed UserInfoFolder and instantiated it in the following structure: mySite ------- test (DTML document) - ---- protected (Folder) ------- acl_users (User Folder) - ---- guestbooks (UserInfoFolder) Upon creation, I told the UserInfoFolder "guestbooks" to hold a Class "Gb" of the Product "SimpleGb". As soon as I add a user "test" to the user folder, "guestbooks" will not hold a new "Gb" instance named "test", but all of a sudden hold - or "show" - (a copy of) my DTML document "test", from the folder above. (same problems with other ZClasses than "Gb") So I took a look at UserInfoFolder.py... UserInfoFolder.py: --------------------------------------------------------------------- class UserInfoFolder(ObjectManager,PropertyManager,Item,RoleManager): [...] def _getOb(self, id, default=''): if not hasattr(self, id): product=self.manage_addProduct[self.productName] zclass=eval('product.'+self.className) obj=apply(zclass,[]) obj._setId(id) self._setObject(id,obj,set_owner=0) return obj return getattr(self, id) [...] --------------------------------------------------------------------- I translate the main part to: "As soon as someone accesses an object with the id 'id' within you, look if you 'have it'. If yes, return that object, if no, add an instance of the specified class." Well, hasattr() is true, even if some object with the id 'id' has been _aquired_, right? Just has to be in the namespace, right? Is it correct that there is something like 'aq_explicit' missing here? And where? I think this is an easy one, but I'm afraid to break something, mommy... thank you in advance, Danny

FW: [Zope] Zope Time Problem
by Mohan Baro 05 Apr '01

I give up. Here is what I have done to fix the problem for now. I have used <dtml-var "ZopeTime().toZone('GMT-5').strftime('%H:%M')"> Instead of <dtml-var "ZopeTime().toZone('Jamaica').strftime('%H:%M')"> I feel that Zope's DateTimeZone.py might have 'Jamaica' in the wrong time zone or daylight saving ??? Aparently Jamaica is not timezone for Windows 2000 Server, so the server has -5:00 GMT/US/Eastern(No Daylight Savings Time) <dtml-var "ZopeTime()"> gives me 2001/04/04 21:00:00.765 US/Eastern <dtml-var "ZopeTime().strftime('%H:%M')"> gives me say 22:00 <dtml-var "ZopeTime().toZone('Jamaica').strftime('%H:%M')"> also gives me 22:00 In my forms I use the .strftime() function. Any idea what's happening here. Why does using .strftime() give an extra hour?? You might check /lib/python/DateTime/DateTime.py The TZ, cdt was set to GMT-2 and when we went to DST in the US/Central TZ many of us lost a couple of hours. <s> Maybe that was 'supposed' to be another TZ??? Searching a FieldIndex for prefix or OR
by Randall F. Kern 05 Apr '01

05 Apr '01

Is it possible to search a catalog on a field index for either a given prefix, or any of a list of values? Maybe I'm going about this wrong; I want to add the ability to only show objects found below a specific place on my site, and to do that I created a field index on the path to each object. Then at query time I would like to search for /foo/bar/*, or failing that create a list of all paths below /foo/bar and create an OR query. The solution I'm using now is to post-process the search results, but that seems lame :) Thanks, -Randy

RE: [Zope] Apache SubFolder to Zope root folder using VirtualHostMonster
by Lars Holmstrom 04 Apr '01

I'm using the Zope 2.3.0 RPM and SiteAccess-2-0-0 (the version string in the control panel). Is there a way to get a more fine grained version number? I see that there are 4 betas out there. Also, when was this functionality added? Surprises with dtml-in and dtml-with
by Shai Berger 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Hi Guys, I found a very peculiar behvaior in the interaction between dtml-with and dtml-in. I have two queries, QueryA and QueryB, which have common columns. I have a method Method1 in Folder1, which does <dtml-in QueryA> <dtml-with Folder2> <dtml-call Method2> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> And Method2 in Folder2, which does <dtml-with Folder1> <dtml-in QueryB> <dtml-with Folder3> ...access common fields... </dtml-with> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> (QueryA and QueryB are in fact two invocations of the same ZSQL method, defined in Folder1, with diferrent arguments. It is a complex queries, and with different arguments it returns different columns). Now, to my surprise, it turns out that when common fields are accessed as shown above, QueryA takes precedence. To my even greater surprise, it turns out that the quack-medicine of interchanging the dtml-with and dtml-in in Method2, i.e. making it read <dtml-with Folder1> <dtml-with Folder3> <dtml-in QueryB> ...access common fields... </dtml-in> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> Restores predicted behavior (i.e. QueryB results take precedence). Has anyone seen behavior like this? Can anyone explain it? Thanks, Shai.

Re: [Zope] Get Column Names from SQL Query?

Thomas B. Passin writes: > I want to run an SQL query, like > > select * from person > > Then I want to extract the column names from the returned data. In other > words, I don't want to hand-code them into the result page. The "Shared.DC.ZRDB.Results.Results" objects, i.e. the objects returned by Z SQL Methods, have a method for this. I think it is "names". Either search the mailing list archives or look into the sources. Dieter

Probably, but it's been quite a while since I used DreamWeaver. Probably one of the Site Options, something about not creating notes on the site, IIRC Might be worth mailing the zope list and asking if something funky coudl be done to let these dirs be created... ...in fact, I'll CC this to there :-) cheers, Chris

Xron on Zope v.2.3.1
by Spicklemire, Jerry 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Hi Zope Fans, I'm seeing some odd symptoms running Xron jobs on the stable release. The schedule time seems to be updating itself, but the processes don't seem to be running. The "trigger" tab can be used to force jobs to run, and that still works normally. Possibly unrelated, but the time seems to be out of sync. For most of my tasks that doesn't matter, as long as things run at regular intervals. Just hoping someone else has seen this too, and found a way to deal with it. Thanks, Jerry S.
