File object doesn't update

All, Has anyone else noticed that the file object doesn't update or am I just doing something incorrectly? I make a change to the file on the local system. I save the file locally I open the file object on the server I upload the local file and the changes aren't there. Any thoughts??? Help: Zope is extremely slow

Our user base has grown significantly in the last few weeks. Unfortunately at hours of peak usage Zope crawls to a halt and won't even serve up pages. we have NUMBER_OF_THREADS=4 would increasing this help? Actually when we I check the processes (with ps -fe | grep py) I only see two the root thread and the thread that runs as nobody? Anybody have any suggests to help the performance of the site? Dan

Clarify Locking

To clarify my use of the locking. We have an ordering system that all the sales people have access to. I am trying to prevent Sales Person #1 from opening an order looking at it...Sales Person #2 opening the same order and making a change...Sales Person #1 saves his/her changes and overwrites Sales Person #2's changes. In addition this system uses legacy data which is in FoxPro free tables (this is not my choice). Hi, Can anyone help me? Zope 2.3.0 Under Windows 95

Hi All First my apologies for inadvertently misdirecting replies to my previous post directly to respondents instead of to this list. Second any help on the following would be appreciated: I'm unable to open Zope 2.3.0 on my pc under Windows 95. I run start.bat and then point IE5 at http://127.0.0.1 but all I get is an IE error report "The page cannot be displayed. Cannot find server or DNS Error". I've followed recommended download/install instructions explicitly and AFAIK all the files are correctly located. Another server on my pc - Xitami - recognises the address http://127.0.0.1 so could it be that Zope 2.3.0, like MS Personal Server 4, cannot be run under Windows 95 except via a network? I have a need for this type also. One table lists items with several varchar fields and about 40 Boolean fields (various options each item has or doesn't have). Another table (options) has 2 columns - option and optionDescription. The option is the column name of each of the Boolean fields and the optionDescription is a text description of each option. I need a query that will get all the details of an item and if any of the 40 options is set with a TRUE, then display the optionDescription from the 'options' table - not just a 1 or 0. So, I will need to compare the option name with the column name from the item table. That sounds suspiciously like the "Zope dying" problem that a lot of people seem to be having. You aren't by any chance using Postgresql are you? I'm rather hoping that Postgres isn't the problem, but I can reliably hang my Zope site using what I think should be fairly reasonable code. Could you try something for me - make a ZSQL query, a PythonScript, and a DTML document, and in the pythonscript do this: print context.standard_html_header(context,context.REQUEST) for v in context.SQL_query(param1='whatever'): print context.dtml_document(context,REQUEST, p1=v.p1, p2=v.p2, p3=v.p3, <etc...> p13=v.p13, p14=v.p14, p15=v.p15, p16=v.p16) print context.standard_html_footer(context,context.REQUEST) return printed The DTML document just has to contain anything: <P>Placeholder text</P> Then call the PythonScript (access it's URL) as *fast* as you can (say as fast a reasonable machine can generate the query). The more fields the SQL query returns (and thus the more named parameters to the DTML document), the easier it is to crash. I get a mix of semi-hangs (child 4 threads dying), hangs (one of the 4 dies, Zope locks up in handling a SIGSTOP as told by "strace -p pid -d", or coredumps with sigsegv). And no, there are no hardware problems. This only happens in very specific circumstances, but I can show you a page where it happens all the time. *Something* is going on, and it's crippling my development.
