ANN: Core Session Tracking 0.8 released
by Chris McDonough 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Hi all, A new version (0.8) of the Core Session Tracking product has been released. The product allows you to associate state for an anonymous user across requests. This version fixes some session expiry bugs as well as allows for session "onStart" and "onEnd" events. Highly recommended if you're now running a previous version of the product. More info is available from http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/Products/CoreSessionTracking Thanks, - C

Error: AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRoles()
by Gitte Wange 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Hello, I can't figure out what arguments the hasRoles function takes. I have tried a lot but it all gives an attribute error. I have these 2 roles - StationMan and ChannelMan - and I need to test whether the logged-in user is either one of them. But what arguments must I pass to the function ? -- ************************ Gitte Wange Jensen System Squid Developer MMManager Aps +45 29 72 79 72 gitte(a)mmmanager.org ************************

RE: DTML documents killing Zope (was RE: [Zope] ZServer dying)

In addition - I can now make a core file, I think - but nothing's compiled with debugging info. What's the procedure to compile Zope w/ debugging? Nothing shows up in the log? Is there a core dump? I can't replicate this using the latest from the 2.3 branch. Could you send me a .zexp? Cheers, Evan @ digicool

webdav not requiring authentication!!
by Tim Hicks 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

I have a zclass that is CatalogAware and dtml-documentish. Within the zclass, I have two external methods (manage_FTPget and PUT), which are there to catch the output from and input to the webdav_src_port so I can do various things to the text being sent out. The problem is, at the moment, anyone can access the source sent out by manage_FTPget and even upload via the PUT method *without* being prompted to authenticate! I don't think I changed any permissions or anything, I just created the zclass and dropped in the external methods. I assumed Zope would catch the requests and prompt for authentication... is this not the case? Do I have to do it within my external methods???!!! Much obliged if you can help tim

Locking
by Ron Baum 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

I am currently working on a project where I would like to give only one person at a time the ability to save a record. For instance if 2 people go to a page that can save the same data I would like to Lock out one of the 2. I can think of many ways to actually lock. My problem is how do I unlock if the person that locked the file just clicks the X on the browser window? Thanks in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ron Baum Database Engineer Accelerated Technology, Inc. 720 Oak Circle Dr East Mobile, AL 36609 Email: rbaum(a)atinucleus.com http://www.acceleratedtechnology.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Nucleus. Installed/compiled ParsedXML Installed TAL and PageTemplates Fired up Zope (using my "normal" account) running on port 8080 **Everything worked fine** I then changed the port Zope was running on to port 81 chown -R nobody var chgrp -R nobody var Fired up Zope (using "root") **PageTemplates _did not_ work. Then, went to <zope>/lib/python/Products chown -R nobody PageTemplates chgrp -R nobody PageTemplates Restarted Zope **Everything worked fine** If you want, I could try narrowing down the exact PageTemplate file(s) which needs "nobody" as the group/owner. Hope this helps. Andrew

ParsedXML errors
by Schmidt, Allen J. 04 Apr '01

After a new install of ParsedXML version 1.0 on Win98 Zope 2.3.1 --- I am getting errors when trying to create a new ParsedXML instance from the Product List. Error Type: NameError Error Value: nodeType All I can do is give it an ID and then Add and Test produces this error. The object is added, though, but produces the same errors when trying to edit it. Any ideas? Thanks... Problem with SSL + IE?
by Zachery Bir 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Anyone having problems with SSL and IE under Zope? IE 5 for the Mac and IE < 5.5 for Windows won't show SSL pages. I've tracked the problem to a particular algorithm for encrypting the session that when using Non-MS product + MS product results in errors. It's a DLL problem. But IE works with some SSL sites, so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I'm using Apache + mod_ssl + ProxyPass for doing Zope front end. Any help would be appreciated.
