ANN: Zope Page Templates 1.0.0 beta 1
by Evan Simpson 04 Apr '01

The first beta release of ZPT is ready! Come read about them at http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ZPT, and download from http://www.zope.org/Members/4am/ZPT. These should be especially interesting for teams of Zope developers in which the programming and page/site design tasks are handled by separate people. Cheers, Evan @ digicool

why is zope returning my pages as octet/stream?
by Gerrie Roos 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

I've created a form to fill in and submit...and then Netscape pops up the 'save as' dialog, not knowing the returned file is HTML...When I save the file and check its contents, its perfect. Why is zope publishing this page as octet/stream?

sequence-item: how do I use it in an expr?
by Gerrie Roos 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

I know I ask a lot of silly questions, at least I'm learning...In the following snippet 'build' is a list of integers. Now I want to do 'prBuildInsertMethod' with all the values in 'build'. To the untrained eye, it seems like this should work. But Zope can't find variable 'sequence'...why? How do I do it then? <dtml-in builds> <dtml-call expr="prBuildInsertMethod(buildNo=sequence-item)"> </dtml-in>

Re: ZPT _v_blocks error
by Evan Simpson 04 Apr '01

From: "Peter Simmons" <pete(a)bcmpweb.com> > What user do the ZPT files need to be owned by? The same user who owns all Zope source code; This could be your account, or a dedicated "Zope" user account. Zope should run either as this user or as one who has only read and execute permission on the source files. Of course, this user needs write permission on the Zope "var" directory and its contents. If you launch Zope as "root", it changes to user "nobody" unless you have configured it otherwise, but it is better not to launch as "root" in the first place. Cheers, Evan @ digicool

Unclear about factory 'Add list name'
by Oliver Bleutgen 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Can someone tell me what's the relation between 'Add list name" in the factory of the zclass and the MetaType-field in the "basic" tab of the zclass? Pointer to documentation would be okay, I couldn't find one. All I know is the if the two are different that cut&paste won't work anymore. The documentation in zope's online help didn't mention this fact "Add list name: The name that will appear on the in the product add list. In the case of ZClasses this is normally the ZClass's meta-type." and "Meta type: The name of the ZClass as it appears in the product add list." Is there a use in the possibility to use another "Add list name" in the factory? cheers, oliver

Re: [Zope] Timestamp and Bool types in Zope
by Grant Murphy 04 Apr '01

Thanks for the quick response. I think I found the problem! Finger trouble. >>> "Peter Bengtsson" <peter(a)grenna.net> 04/04/2001 11:53:51 >>> You might be thinking about the dtml-sqlvar, right? the sqlvar is just there to help you create a long text string, the SQL statement. Use the syntax of strings or int however it suits you to produce the SQL text string you need. Cheers, Peter From: "Grant Murphy" <Grant.Murphy(a)eskom.co.za> Hi I'm trying to insert or select timestamp and bool types into a postgres database and I'm using PoPyDA. Zope seem to only have types string, text and int, unless I missed something somewhere. Please help as I'm a newbie? incredible authentication problem
by Jerome Alet 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Hi, I'm in the following situation and can't explain it: I've created a user in the root's acl_users folder of a fresh Zope 2.3.1beta2 installation. this user has an "almost" manager local role in a sub-sub folder of the root one, but no role anywhere else. If I login as this user from home or at work, respectively under Debian Potato with Netscape 4.75 and 4.76, then it works fine and the management screens are shown to me. If I tell the real user to try to connect as this Zope user from his home, then only the top and left management frames are shown to him correctly: the right frame shows the "View" of the folder, not its contents. What I can't explain is that in both situations we log in using the very same username and password, but the result is different for him. On a screenshot he sent to me, the top frame shows the good username, and when I personnally lo in with this username the top frame shows it is correct (anbd the same) too. Since I've created the folder as the manager (admin account) of the whole Zope installation, is it possible that Netscape caches my authentification information, which isn't cached for him because he never logs in as admin ? I must say that he and I have quitted and relaunched Netscape several times during several days, but the problem persists. Unfortunately I don't know his Netscape's version, and we can't try IE. Could this be related to cookies, javascript or proxy cache settings ? thanks in advance for any help. Invalid Cursor state error
by matt standish 04 Apr '01

04 Apr '01

Hello, I am having a problem with my Zope/ Mysql system and was hoping that some kind soul in Zope land may be able to help me. I am running Zope 2.3.0 (Binary release, python 1.5.2 win 32-x86) MySQL using ZODBC to communicate with Zope. I am using a Win 98 SE box for development and NT 4 server when it is complete. The error I am receiving is: Error Type: sql.error Error Value: ('24000',0,'[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Invalid cursor state') I receive this error after 3 queries to the database. The type of queries makes no difference. I am not using cursors in my database. The ODBC trace logs give the following errors: <...snip...> z2 fffc4b8b-fffc2717 ENTER SQLExecDirect HSTMT 015E26F0 UCHAR * 0x012EEE74 [ 22] "select * from u_server" SDWORD 22 z2 fffc4b8b-fffc2717 EXIT SQLExecDirect with return code -1 (SQL_ERROR) HSTMT 015E26F0 UCHAR * 0x012EEE74 [ 22] "select * from u_server" SDWORD 22 DIAG [24000] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Invalid cursor state (0) z2 fffc4b8b-fffc2717 ENTER SQLErrorW HENV 016DFC40 HDBC 00000000 HSTMT 015E26F0 WCHAR * 0x01E5F374 (NYI) SDWORD * 0x01E5F3B0 WCHAR * 0x01E5EF74 SWORD 511 SWORD * 0x01E5F3AE z2 fffc4b8b-fffc2717 EXIT SQLErrorW with return code 0 (SQL_SUCCESS) HENV 016DFC40 HDBC 00000000 HSTMT 015E26F0 WCHAR * 0x01E5F374 (NYI) SDWORD * 0x01E5F3B0 (0) WCHAR * 0x01E5EF74 [ 53] "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Ma" SWORD 511 SWORD * 0x01E5F3AE (53) <...snip...> Any suggestions? I have tried to use the MySQL database method but could not install it correctly. Thanks -Matt
