Personalization (was something about some guy leaving some place)

But since you like to give me so much to read, here's a return on the favor ;). It's a paper from IBM about Web Site Personalization. I read it a long time ago and am looking back over it now myself. http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/personalization/index.html Jeffrey P Shell, jeffrey(a)Digicool.com http://www.digicool.com/ | http://www.zope.org

RE: [Zope] does zope work with python 2.0?

Zope starts under 2.1b2 on HP/UX 11.00 :) It has lots of "X is deprecated" but it starts and the management interface works fine. Zope Version Zope 2.3.1 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) Python Version 2.1b2 (#1, Apr 3 2001, 10:01:06) [GCC 2.9-hppa-991112] System Platform hp-uxB Process Id 23123 (5) Running For 5 min 8 sec Troy -----Original Message----- From: Hamish Lawson [mailto:hamish_lawson@yahoo.co.uk] Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2001 10:46 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] does zope work with python 2.0? Because of Zope's handful of extensions written in C, it won't just be enough to download the binary version of Zope (compiled for Python 1.5.2.) and point it at your Python 2.0 interpreter instead; you'll need to get the source version of Zope and build it for Python 2.0. I've also found that some third-party Products use idioms that are not accepted by Python 2.0, such as multi-argument append(), so you may need to pester the respective developers or amend them yourself. How to create a Shopping Cart for Core Session
by Andres Corrada 03 Apr '01

03 Apr '01

Hello, I'm trying to design a Shopping cart class that I can add to a Core Session object. An earlier post this year on "Putting objects into CoreSessionTracking?" got a response by Chris McDonough stating that Core Session objects need to obey all rules obeyed by ZODB objects. I know how to design Zope Products, how will a Shopping cart class that is meant only to exist ephimerally in the Core Session object differ? My question is kind of vague but being at the early stages of design, I was wondering if other people have thought about this. -------------------------------------------------- Andres Corrada-Emmanuel andres.corrada(a)mpingo.com --------------------------------------------------

How do I include a file into a DTML box?
by Shlomi Fish 03 Apr '01

03 Apr '01

Hi! At http://www.iglu.org.il/ we have a front page which contains several left boxes ( a la slashdot). One of them displays the status of the latest Linux kernel version. At the moment it is updated manually but I wrote a script to automatically generate it based on information from www.linuxhq.com. The file with the HTML code is somewhere on the computer's directory structure, and I wish to include it as part of the box (or at least to write a script that will modify it inside zope). How do I do such a thing? dtml-in question
by Russell Hires 03 Apr '01

03 Apr '01

Is it possible to nest <dtml-in> tags? Actually, I know it isn't because that's something I've tried already and it didn't work. At least, it didn't work the way I tried it. I'm just getting my feet wet with dtml, and I created a table using one dtml method to create one row of the table using the <dtml-in> tag, but it seems silly to have to have a completely separate method for one <tr> tag in a method all by itself. I did solve the problem this way: I created one method with the definition of one row of a table, then created another method with one <tr> tag to create the next row of the table, then looped using <dtml-in> first-method second-method</dtml-in>. It just seems kinda klunky... Thanks for any help! Re: [Zope] dtml-in sort by generic function

I see a minor problem here - if I want just locale-aware > sort, I would write > <dtml-in seq sort=surname sort_func=_.locale.strcoll>, A very good idea! However, you should note: * "dtml-in" does not sort single values, but tuples ( sort_values, client), where "sort_values" is either a single value or a list of values and "client" is the current element. Your sort function must handle this case * "dtml-in" supports multiple sort keys. I would expect to have a comparison function for each sort key, with the global comparison function a composition of that for the sort keys. Thus, you can combine a locale sensitive sort with (e.g.) a date sort. Dieter
