Confusing user folder and permissions

Hello, I am trying to figure out how the user folder works. (Yes Chris I have read the book *S*) I want a section (it's in a folder) to be non-accessable for anonymous user. I enter the security tab of that folder and look at the list of permissions. In the column beloning to the anonymous user I see that non of the checkboxes are checked. (In my head I get this as: Ah this user cannot access the folder). But when I - as anonymous user - enters the folder nothing stops me. I see all the data I shouldn't. I use a python script to do this all day :) Zope Coolness: You don't have to run through the array. Pass the array as a parameter to manage_delObjects. Authenticate users

Hello, I'm making this website where we - surprise - need to have users to login. But I haven't been able to find any FAQ or How-To on how the user folders work or how you make any login and add users pages. Is there someone who have made a How-To on this subject ? CMF reconfiguration error

Hello, I tried the CMF on a clean Zope 2.3.1 configuration. Everything went pretty good, except for the reconfiguration of the portal: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: expected integer key The traceback is in the end of this message. I am using a Windows machine, so the assumptions in the readme are not completely met: - Zope configured using INSTANCE_HOME, '/var/zope', and SOFTWARE_HOME, '/usr/local/zope/Zope-2.3.1b1'. The installation of CMF on my Zope 2.3.1 is as follows (it could be the cause of the error). I moved the three directories: CMFCore CMFDefault and CMFTopic to lib\python\products and started Zope. This works fine until reconfiguration of the portal. Passing variables around.

I have a general menubar on my site, who's orientation will vary depending on which page its on. Sometimes its on the left, sometimes its on the right. And its color can vary, too. So that's two bits of information that I want to be able to pass to the dtml method /standard_menubar in each page. What i'm currently doing is this: <dtml-let Prefix="'L-'" Color="'Orange'"><dtml-var standard_menubar></dtml-let> Is that the 'correct' way to pass variables around? Hmm. Would it be better to just set 'Properties' on my content_html DTML document? Speaking of. I'm designing my site with the 'One Folder per Page' paradigm. Should content_html be a DTML document or method? Are there advantages or disadvantages to each? My understanding is that the Folder would then become the 'object' that is the page, instead of the content_html being the object within the folder... is this correct? --Ix

Quick&dirty (not really dirty, but sure quick): Take a look at the LocalFS Product, it makes it possible to get through to the local fs. Zope-integrated: Take a look at ZPublisher.Client, a small howto is at http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/ZClientMethod to see how to write an external method which does everything which your script does. Perhaps zope in 2.3 you can use a python-script for this task, don't know that though. This opens the problem to periodically fetch the data, but it would make it possible to get it again for every client-request (which you don't want to do I guess). A mix between the two. Take a look at utilities/load_site.py in your zope-directory to see the necessary things to do to add methods/folders via script. You just have to construct the right URIs to call inside your script which add a method/text file through a web interface. You can also use ftp-access or DAV to easily put the data into zope. cheers, oliver
