After Dark writes: > How can I map my site? I did <dtml-in "PARENTS[-1]">, but it > only worked for the first level then... I am astonished that it worked at all: "dtml-in" requires a sequence, but "PARENT[-1]" is not a sequence but an "Application" object. Did you try: <dtml-tree "PARENTS[-1] branches=objectValues"> &dtml-id; </dtml-tree> Dieter

Jeffrey P Shell writes: > DTML Methods themselves don't know that this is set until render time, so > the content type WebDAV property never quite works with them. I *believe* > ZPT should be architected to handle this issue better, but DTML Methods > never were. It is quite easy to make DTML Methods "Content-Type" aware: Give it a "content_type" attribute. All the machinery is present to provide the correct Content-Type HTTP header, as soon as there is a "content_type" attribute. The following two external methods can manage a "content_type" attribute of DTMLMethods (for DTMLDocuments, a standard property works well). def getContentType(obj): '''return content type of *obj*, 'None', if not available.''' o= getattr(obj,'aq_base',obj) return getattr(o,'content_type',None) def setContentType(obj, type): '''set content type of *obj* to *type*.''' o= getattr(obj,'aq_base',obj) o.content_type= type An alternative is to give the DTMLMethod's extensions. If, e.g., a DTMLMethod has an id with a '.txt" extension (suffix), then its default content type is "text/plain". Dieter

Perl + Python = Parrot?
by Jonathan 02 Apr '01

02 Apr '01

Hi all, Just reading a press release on python.org: Perl and Python to begin joint development http://www.python.org/parrot.html I thought Guido and the rest of the Python crew worked at Digicool, but apparently he just accepted a job at ActiveState, together with Larry Wall. Where is this going? If Perl and Python are merging in the near future, we'll need to find another language to fight our language wars with ;) C# maybe? :) Cya Jonathan

[Q] The Book's examples are working sporadically for me
by Carl David 02 Apr '01

02 Apr '01

I think I've got some kind of permission problem, since the examples in the "Book" concerning <dtml-tree> and <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')"> etc., work on some folders and not on others. Can someone clear this up for me so that I can get consistant behavior? Thanks. Carl David david(a)uconnvm.uconn.edu

Set Product Permissions: TypeError?

Hi all, Add a Product, go to 'Define Permissions', change 'Use Database Methods' from '(disabled)' to 'Use Database Methods' so I can use and call SQL Methods within my ZClass. But when I try to save my changes I get a TypeError: too many arguments, expected 2, got 3 Zope 2.3.0 source release, Python 1.5.2 (Linux). Re: [Zope] Directories and subdirectories....

After Dark writes: > > > > "_.getitem('parameter')" is equivalent to "parameter". > > parameter come from a form(REQUEST), so if I don`t do that > zope will treat it like a string. But then, you must omit the '...'! Believe me: "_.getitem('parameter')" is equivalent to "parameter". Thus, you should use: "_.getitem(parameter).objectValues()" > >Otherwise, your statement is strange. > > > > What object type contains the "dtml-in" (a DTML Method > >or Document)? > > Dtml Document. That may explain why you get a wrong object: A DTML Document brings with it its own context and this context is stronger than that of the call. If you have /parameter /document /subfolder /parameter and you use the URL "/subfolder/document", you will get "/parameter" and not "/subfolder/parameter". A DTML Method, on the other hand, does not bring its own context. I only uses that of the call. Check out URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html for details. Dieter

FYI about Zope 2.3.x and FreeBSD
by R. David Murray 02 Apr '01

02 Apr '01

A couple of us on the IRC channel were trying to get Zope 2.3 running on FreeBSD. 2.2.x works fine. 2.3.x sometimes seems to fail to run. Both of us got an error importing module 'new', but for one of us zope 2.3.0a2 still ran, while for the other it wouldn't start. 2.3.1b3 failed to start for the one 2.3.0a2 ran for. Installing python2.0 from ports and either 2.3.1b3 from source or 2.3.0a2 from the FreeBSD port works fine. --RDM
