Can't use <dtml-in> with <dtml-boundary>
by Kelvin Cheong 22 Mar '01

22 Mar '01

Hi all, Is there anyway to use <dtml-in> tags with <dtml-boundary>??? I'm trying to allow users to attach multiple files but i can't retrieve the "list" of files (of course lists indicates an undefined number of files), as it seems Zope won't allow <dtml-boundary> and <dtml-in> to get along. My codes are : <dtml-sendmail mailhost="MailHost"> From: webmaster(a)vcn.com.my To: amoebia(a)vcn.com.my Subject: attach <dtml-mime type=text/plain encode=7bit> <dtml-boundary type=image/jpeg disposition=attachment encode=base64><dtml-in filelist><dtml-var "attachLFS[_['sequence-item']].data"></dtml-in> </dtml-mime> </dtml-sendmail> So say I have files foo1.jpg foo2.txt foo3.gif I'm trying to generate something lke : <dtml-sendmail mailhost="MailHost"> From: webmaster(a)vcn.com.my To: amoebia(a)vcn.com.my Subject: attach <dtml-mime type=text/plain encode=7bit> <dtml-var getname> <dtml-boundary type=image/jpeg disposition=attachment encode=base64><dtml-var foo1.jpg> <dtml-boundary type=image/jpeg disposition=attachment encode=base64><dtml-var foo2.txt> <dtml-boundary type=image/jpeg disposition=attachment encode=base64><dtml-var foo3.gif> </dtml-mime> </dtml-sendmail> Anyone done this before? Or perhaps can anyone suggest a workaround? Thanx in advance dudes and dudettes!! amoebia.

One could had this code do z2.py just before the ayncore.loop(): sockettimeout=60 import timeoutsocket timeoutsocket.setDefaultSocketTimeout(sockettimeout) and then any python code you create (external methods, etc) that opens tcp sockets will "see" this timeoutsocket default set in z2.py. Note: I tested (on linux 2.3.1.b1) and it works but use it at your own risk. I get a problem with timeoutsocket using zope on NT, on Linux it works ok,i.e, it gives me socket timeout when it runs for time > mydefaulttimeout. It's in timeoutsocket.py, line 244, in connect. On NT I tryed in a lower version of zope, so I think could be related with the _socket of my NT zope's python, I'll try later. timeoutsocket.py with zope?
by Jlio Dinis Silva 22 Mar '01

22 Mar '01

Hi, has anyone put timeoutsocket.py (http://www.timo-tasi.org/python/timeoutsocket.py) to work with zope? For instance, doing an external method that fetchs a site with httplib but add in the code a import of timeoutsocket and setting the default timeout, something like this: import timeoutsocket import httplib imeoutsocket.setDefaultSocketTimeout(20) H = httplib.HTTP("www.python.org") ... [ ANN ] LDAPLoginAdapter 1.1 released
by Jens Vagelpohl 21 Mar '01

21 Mar '01

LDAPLoginAdapter 1.1, a user folder replacement that authenticates against an LDAP server, has been released. You can view some of the documentation and download the software at http://www.dataflake.org/software/ldaploginadapter/ A Tracker at that same address allows you to easily file bug reports or feature requests for this product. Improvements and bugfixes since the last announcement include: **LDAPLoginAdapter 1.1** Features Added: * Instead of hardcoding fixed publicly available attributes onto the LDAPUser object you can now take full control of the mapping from LDAP attribute to public user object attribute. A public user object attribute is an attribute that is directly accessible on the user object. DTML code like "AUTHENTICATED_USER.email" is an example of accessing a directly accessible attribute on the user object. A lot of legacy DTML code relies on such attributes. Bugs fixed: * finduser() now lowercases all DN records from valid groups and compares it to a lowercased DN from any search results among user records. This fixes records not showing up if the capitalization in the group and on the user record is different. * When a user object was created the code expected a "mail" attribute on the LDAP record to set the email attribute used for compatibility with the Tracker. This has been repaired and will just default to an empty string. * Users who use tools like PADL's migration script end up with records that do not have the expected "sn" attribute. This is not set to a default value in finduser() to avoid errors in case it is not there. This will make the LDAPLoginAdapter compatible with user records of type posixAccount. **LDAPLoginAdapter 1.0** Bugs fixed: * Due to a bug in checking the return values from an LDAP search the cache can be polluted by invalid records for failed logins. This did not constitue a security breach, just more processing than necessary. **LDAPLoginAdapter 1.0beta3** Bugs Fixed: * Moved the LDAP search scope translation list from a volatile attribute on the LDAPLoginAdapter to a module-level attribute. This avoids any re-initialization calls. * Eliminated the extra attribute _v_loglines that counted the length of the log. A simple call to len(self._v_log) replaces it where log length info is needed. * Created one centralized method that handles connecting to and searching the LDAP server. This allows centralized error handling and makes for less and cleaner code. So far finduser, getUserDetails, getGroups, getUserNames and _lookupuser have been converted to use it instead of having their own connection code. * Rooted out error that would put a known user into the cache even though the password was not matched. This was not a security error since the broken user had the wrong password and failed any tests in validate() * Rigorous pruning of overly long lines of code to pare everything down to 80 chars width max * Avoiding unnecessary calls to the logging routine by checking for the correct log level *before* the call and not in the logging method. * Added a file, SAMPLE_RECORDS.txt, that shows a sample group- and user record. This will hopefully make it easier to understand the types of LDAP records needed. Features added: * Nicer Search screen adopted from the LDAPUserManager

RE: [Zope] Zope app to traverse *external* file system

Please don't post HTML to the list. Look at JFarr's LocalFS product. http://www.zope.org/Members/jfarr/Products/LocalFS You can also access the Local file system with Zope Products and External Methods. Troy -----Original Message----- From: Kulp, David [mailto:David_Kulp@affymetrix.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 21, 2001 3:50 PM To: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: [Zope] Zope app to traverse *external* file system I am trying to decide whether I should take the plunge with Zope. I will be writing a web app to traverse a large directory tree and provide fews of the files in this tree. This sounds, at first, ideal for zope, since I could create scripts or DHTML methods at the top of the tree that I can use to generally and systemically allow users to traverse and view the information -- perhaps even using the zope tree view. Alas, this directory tree is external to zope in a real file system. It is not possible to add these files as objects into zope. Everything I've read so far deals with objects in zope. Is there a straightforward way to use zope to address this while maintaining most of the nice zope features? Although not the app I'm actually writing, the idea is similar to, for example, providing a view of a /home file system. Special behavior for the default view might exist for /home/<user>/. Perhaps a directory of /home/<user>/src would be recognized as a source code tree for a particular user and special behavior within that tree would exist -- e.g. comparing a file with a CVS repository. Different files with extensions or mime-types or special names are displayed differently. This sounds a lot like a classic zope app to me except the data isn't in zope. The files are live real files in the file system and are accessed, modified, etc. outside of the web app. Any recommendation would be much appreciated! Is there a nice zope pattern for this? If not, can you recommend alternatives? Much obliged, David Kulp

MYSql adapter advice
by Chris Muldrow 21 Mar '01

21 Mar '01

We're using the regular Zope ODBC Adapter to connect to a MySQL db on Win 2000. inotice, though, that you can't "browse" the db structure in the odbc connection. Is another DB adapter a better bet for MySQL? (We're already using odbc for an Access database, so it's preferred to stick with one, but if a MySQL adapter is better, we can make the change) Thanks -- Chris
