manage_addVersion
by Tim Cook 18 Mar '01

18 Mar '01

Zope 2.3.1b2, python 1.5.2, linux2-x86 I can't stop manage_addVersion from redirecting back to manage_main. I have scoured the normal information sites & sources and there is 'some' information about manage_workspace redirection (in a ZClass) in the archives. That doesn't apply in this case. Being the Python neophyte that I am, the code in Version.py says taht if REQUEST is not None to do the redirect. Well, I've done my very best to set REQUEST to None (actually it looks like it defaults to None) all without success. Any help appreciated; as usual. -- Tim Cook, President - FreePM,Inc. http://www.FreePM.com Office: (901) 884-4126 ONLINE DEMO: http://www.freepm.org:8080/FreePM

Re: newbie zope question -- stuck in quick-start page
by Sundar Narasimhan 17 Mar '01

Oh, I have created a new user with Manager role access, and even when I login as that user, I can't seem to get rid of this quick-start page, and get to see the tabbed root folder that appears in all the zope docs. I notice that http://host:8080/manage_workspace gets redirected to http://host:8080/manage.. I guess there's no way to look into the dtml/or code structure of zope except thru the mgmt. interface? (i.e. without that it would appear that I'm just stuck -- since there's quite obviously a bug in the default install that just keeps looping back to the quick start guide no matter what I try). The log file doesn't seem to indicate anything unusual (like errors etc.). Is this thing just broken? ps. is there any documentation on where the content is generated from? (I couldn't find where the quick start page is coming from, for example).

<dtml-let> in and outside <dtml-in>
by Edwin Martin 17 Mar '01

17 Mar '01

Hello, I want to set a variable inside a <dtml-in>-loop and want to use it outside the <dtml-in>. This is probably a FAQ, but I couldn't find the answer. <dtml-let> wouldn't work and something like <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('done',1)"> doesn't work either. I want to have something like this working (simplified): <if stage=3> <dtml-in...> <dtml-if...> <dtml-var bla> <dtml-let done=1> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> <dtml-if not done or stage=2> ... </dtml-if> Bye, Edwin Martin.

PHP3 from external methods ?
by Geir Bækholt 17 Mar '01

17 Mar '01

Anyone have experience with accessing php3-scripts through external methods ? The nicest way would of course be to have the script act as external methods themselves ,just passing parameters in , and getting return values , but i expect you would have to put some kind of python wrapper between zope and php.. any thoughts on the subject ? - one of our coders wrote a payment system in php3 and oracle, and we would really like to interface zope with it.. The cleanest way would of course be to rewrite the whole thing in python , but, as usual, we don't have the time... -- Geir Bækholt geirh(a)funcom.com

Upgrading 2.0 to 2.3
by Albert Kinderman 17 Mar '01

17 Mar '01

I have a site running on 2.0.1. I would like to upgrade to 2.3.x. I have searched for a how-to on upgrading, but I can't find it. I have not been reading the list closely lately, but I did see a comment about exporting products from the old installation and then importing them to the new installation. Is there anything that has to be done with Data.fs? Should I export the top level folders and objects and import them into the new installation as well? A pointer to a step by step guide would be greatly appreciated. Al

Alternative management interface
by Anton A. Zotov 17 Mar '01

17 Mar '01

Even more urgent: (almost cry for help :-( ) Please, could anybody give me a piece of advice on the topic: I need to create an alternative management interface for my Site in order my site administrators to be able to manage the site in a special way. Where should I place all my administrative .py modules & dtml docs in order for them to work the same way as native Zope management tools ? Thanks in advance for my salvation, Anton.

Acquisition
by Axel.Missbach＠t-online.de 17 Mar '01

17 Mar '01

Hi, i'm very confused about how acquisition works. I want to build an database-aplication with an scheme like that: In the rootfolder is a DTML-Object called Browser. This on calls an DTML-Object view, which handels the database-tabel-view. In ever subfolder there is a special view-Object. /Browser { <dtml-var view> } /tabel1/view{view definition} /index_html {<dtml-var Browser>} /tabel2/view{view definition} /index_html{<dtml-var Browser>} .... Calling /Browser/tabel2/index_html calls not /Browser/table2/view because, i think, acquisition looks in the current folder and downwards, BUT not in the calling folder. Where is my failure? Is there another (better) way to do it? with regards Axel

ANNOUNCE: ZopeMake 1.0
by Paolo Bizzarri 17 Mar '01

17 Mar '01

Hi everybody, I am happy to announce ZopeMake 1.0, a couple of utilities to perform the upload/download of .zexp files without passing through the import/export interface. Instead, it uses the ZClient to perform directly the interaction with Zope. ZopeMake include two utilities, one for the upload and one for the download of files. You can include the utilities in a make dist/make install file, so that you can use the classic "make install" to perform an installation. The product has been created by Tommaso Cucinotta (t.cucinotta(a)sssup.it) following a suggestion of mine. Please send technical question directly to him. Ciao Paolo Bizzarri -- Paolo Bizzarri Icube S.r.l.
