Hi, I had some problems in the past using zmxodbcda and sql7. What version of sqlserver drivers are you using? If you click on the tab "browse" of your zmxodbda connection do you get a InterfaceError? thanx, Julio Dinis Silva >From: "Capesius, Alan" <CapesiusA(a)Sysmex.com> >To: bryanbz(a)2s2i.com >CC: zope(a)zope.org >Subject: [Zope] RE: ZODBC problem (and ZmxODBC) >Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2001 17:49:09 -0600 > >Excellent. hi, How can I get a SQL query to call/pass the data it gets from a DB to a DTML method/page rather than have the query format and display the data? Is there some docs on this? Thanks, j. ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach ... University College of the Cariboo. ..

Hi Tarquine, I think it is time we take this to the Zope mailinglist, I included the address distribution of this email. Generally, Zope questions are best asked there, as there are far more knowledgeable people on the lists then there are webmasters at Zope.org. Without knowing what Zope prints to the console window, I can't tell you what is going wrong here. I think we also need to know what addresses you try. -- Martijn Pieters | Software Engineer mailto:mj@digicool.com | Digital Creations http://www.digicool.com/ | Creators of Zope http://www.zope.org/ ---------------------------------------------

PythonScripts and REQUEST, RESPONSE objects
by Alex Verstraeten 08 Mar '01

08 Mar '01

Hello zop'ers I'm doing most of my work with pythonscripts but I have some problems with it: whenever a pythonscript needs to invoke objects like REQUEST or RESPONSE, I have to put those objects at the paramter list and then, when invoking the pythonscript I have to pass those objects to it. This brings me 2 problems: the syntax is much longer, instead of having: <dtml-var MyMethod> I have to type now: <dtml-var "MyMethod(RESPONSE=RESPONSE , REQUEST=REQUEST)"> the other problem is that from now on this object requires to be called from a dtml-method (because it needs these RESPONSE and REQUEST objects as parameters) is there a cleaner solution than doing this? back to my php days, I remember a similar issue with variable scopes on functions, but there were 3 workarounds to access those out-of-scope variables: 1. pass it in the argument list (just like in pythonscript) 2. declare the variables as global (global $foo, $bar) 3. access them thru a $GLOBAL['foo'] $GLOBAL['bar'] is there any similar solution at python script like example 2 and 3? or is it a must to pass those objects in the parameter list? if that's the case: how am I supposed to invoke those pythonscripts from other pythonscripts? so far I've noticed dtml methods being very limited in functionality (but at least they can reach any object) while pythonscript is very flexible in functionality but way too annoying to be used, as it sometimes depends on dtml methods to be called from, so it can be passed objects that cant reach by itself. Isnt there a more integrated and independant solution than this ugly dmtl/pythonscript method mixture ? Hope to be wrong about all this. if I am, please let me know =) Thanks. Alex

YIHAW add/del newsitem

Hello, I'd like to add and delete Newsitems to a Yihaw folder from my own methods. My methos is in my /admin (DTML-) folder and the new NewsItem should be in /news (Yihaw Folder). ZSQL in Products
by Alexander Chelnokov 08 Mar '01

Hello, A newbie question. Some ZSQLs work properly if the application is created in a Zope tree. The same methods become unaccessible (login/passw window appears) if a Product created from the code and the application is an instance of the product. What permission and where must be set? THX in advance. -- Best regards, Alexander N. Chelnokov Ural Scientific Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics 7, Bankovsky str. Ekaterinburg 620014 Russia ICQ: 25640913

Try adding **kwargs to the arguments list of your PythonScripts. (Newbie Alert)- How to change multiple properties from a selection list

Hi, I am trying to assign more than one property from a form selection list. I have a ZClass "Course Description" that holds ..a course description (title, learning objectives, agenda, prerequisites, link to docs, etc.) and another ZClass "Course session" that holds the course time and space related data(start date, end date, summary, location, etc.) Trainers create courses and course managers (CM) decide when and where to have these courses. Once the CM wants to set up a session, he adds a Course session, selects the course title from a selection list and decides when and where to have this course. The selection list is generated by a catalog search. What I would like to do, is the following: Since the title is not unique, what the CM really chooses is the Course id. Based on the selected id I would like to : copy the title property of the Course Description to the title property of Course Session. update the "link to Agenda" property of the Course Session with the path to the selected Course Description. I know how to do this singularly, but not all at hte same time. Any Idea? Here follows some code I am using for the selection list <th>Title of event</th> <td><select name="id1:int"> <dtml-in "Catalog(meta_type='Course Description')"> <OPTION value='<dtml-var data_record_id_>'><dtml-var title></OPTION> </dtml-in> </select> </td> Thank you very much, Stefano
