Python script and dtml-with
by Farrell, Troy 28 Feb '01

I'm not explicitly having a problem, but I would like an explanation. I understand the usefullness of dtml-with in dtml. I was converting some dtml methods to python scripts and I ran across a dtml-with. Is there an equivalent for python scripts? If so, great. If not, please explain why it is not needed. Thanks in advance. Troy

Zope is able to get authentication information from the "REMOTE_USER" request member. You may use a SiteAccess AccessRule in your root folder to copy "LOGON_USER" into "REMOTE_USER". There is a HowTo on Zope.org about SiteAccess use for such purposes. Dieter

I would leave it there (or put it there, if not yet there). Data.fs might grow in principle to 200 GB, but I think of this as a horror szenario. This huge file would be in a single partition (I doubt, Unix supports files spread over several partitions). Doubt that you have such large partitions. When Zope starts, it builds an index for "Data.fs". While the index is much smaller than the file itself, it still will be huge and it is held in memory. Do not do this! My confidence in ZCatalog is limited, too. You have to carefully choose the commit granularity. I, definitely, would go for a standard database solution and use Zopes excellent database integration to interface with the data in the database. Dieter

You the the searchable archives hosted by NIP (found via zope.org)? With them, you may not need to download the archiv files themselves. Dieter

This may allow you to get rid of the nasty "dtml-if". I expect, "citationin", "casenamein" and "yearin" are Z SQL arguments and not field names? In this case, you would need a "dtml-sqlvar" to access their value. Dieter

tHANKS BUT NO LUCK EITHER. oOPS...dANG cAPS lOCK... The DTML method was generated for my by ADDing a Z Search Method and selecting my ZSQL method. Aside from formatting some of the fields returned...the rest of the mechanics of it were untouched. In fact, I exported the Whole thing out to another Zope installation and the original configuration of the method works!!! Ahhhhhhh!!! <SNIPPED> Started to reply right after I hit send on the last one. Outlook is breaking the lines apart. I put yours into the method, sans linebreaks and it is identical to mine. Sorry for the extra traffic about this but I am stumped since it was working fine!! Thanks Allen

bobobase docs?
by Joshua 28 Feb '01

Hi I'm just getting around to reading the documentation on Zope and I cannot find references to the bobobase_modification_time in the API docs. Can someone point me to a reference that would have it and it's syntax? Thanks Joshua
