After a discussion on irc the idea of a 15K limit and no html email was arrived it. This would block almost all spam that comes to this list and would not interfere with its normal functioning since the 15K cap is about 5K over most of the largest pure text messages which seem be hit a cap of about 10K without having html in them. Error-reporting bug

I've noticed in 2.3.0 that if a DTML method is the target of a form request, and it invokes a Python script which attempts operations with insufficient privileges, the error reported back to the browser is a KeyError on one of the variables passed in via the form submission and forwarded along to the Python script. This has cost me a lot of troubleshooting time as I either write a new test page to try the operation and determine what the security issue really is, or I go through and add proxy capabilities to random Python scripts that are invoked by the DTML method or the scripts it invokes. Not to mention the initial hours it took me to figure out that it wasn't really a KeyError, but rather a security issue. Is this a known issue that will eventually be resolved, or will this continue to be a problem? -- -- John R. LoginManager and Zope 2.3.0

I installed LoginManager 0-8-8b1 but it shows as a broken product under Zope 2.3.0 Traceback says: File "/usr/local/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/ZPatterns/DataSkins.py", line 1, in ? from DynPersist import DynPersist ImportError: No module named DynPersist Search for DynPersist on zope.org reveals that I should compile DynPersist.c in the /lib/python/Products/ZPatterns directory. But it requires various headers which I have spread around lib/python, but obviously gcc cannot find them. I use binary Zope 2.3.0 package. Should I be using Zope compiled from source? Do I need to compile DynPersist.c? Where should I place the result? -- Milos Prudek

Zope changing incoming info?

Hi, all. Zope 2.2.2, Python 1.5.2, Linux 2.4.1 Got an python module (/opt/Zope/Extensions/selfInfo.py) which returns a dictionary. Got a Zope external method "Get_Self_Info" w/ appropriate function/filename. Now... when calling from either a DTML Document or DTML Method, something's going screwy. ### CALL 1 ### <dtml-var Get_Self_Info> returns {'cpuLoading': 16.4179104478} Beautiful, no? ### CALL 2 ### <dtml-var "Get_Self_Info['cpuLoading']"> barfs, returns Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: __getitem__ ... Can't remove proxy?

After setting a Python script to run via a proxy (Zope version 2.3.0), if I later go back and unselect the role, I can't save that change. The resulting page complains that I have to select at least one role. Is there a workaround? -- -- John R. Optimization

Hi Zoperopes.... Im nearing completion of my site and though Im new to python and zope, I've gotten a mile out of the meter of funcitonality. Im very happy with it,. But next I raise the issue of speed.... Im wondering what are the evaluating criteriea for the response speed of Zope.... Say for instance, you use heavy namespace access, does it slow the system down much? How about for dbms calls? Im using SQLSession quite heavily to store parameters that are required to run the site. Also, Im pretty stupid when it comes to this ZClass stuff, so I've just worked around it by using close to 150 SQL methods and EVERYTHING is in the DBMS. Not only by idiocy, but because the site was ramped out of another webapp system and it seemed easier to just keep using the dbms data for everything..... Also, is there a product that can do timegating and performance testing on zope? Thanks as always, Paz

Overlap

I am using dtml-in's batch features and noticed that I am getting an overlap of the last item to the top of the next batch. I changed the overlap attribute to 0 and I still get the overlap. Thank you so much for your response. Unfortunately, this didn't seem to work. If I comment out the last line of the function (return self.vote_results(self, self.REQUEST)) and restart Zope, then the product loads successfully. I also tried the following variations: return self.vote_results(self, REQUEST) and return self.vote_results(self) neither seemed to work.
