ILU generates this exception, when it receives a string with 0 octeds in it, which is not allowed for CORBA strings. I do not know LDAP details, but I expect the problem be similar. Some function expects a C-string (i.e. one terminated with a 0 octed) but receives a string that has embedded 0 octeds. Dieter

Newer "FSSession" versions should no longer exhibit this problem. Dieter

Is that not a standard problem in the Zope context? If you access any object via acquisition or the DTML namespace, then the definition of a new property can break code: the property may be retrieved rather than an object formerly acquired, looked up deeper in the namespace. ZCatalog and searching the external data

I'd very much like to do the same thing...but I don't really understand the solution you've given here. Maybe something more detailed will come in a future version of the Zope book? -don --- In zope@y..., sean.upton@u... wrote: I suppose that you would set up a "proxy" object (just use a ZClass) instance somewhere in the ODB that has a method that represented external data scraped from the web via an external method and http client libraries in python. only know HTML; how easy to learn Zope?
by Paul Newman 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

I only know HTML. No programming. I found Learning Python very difficult. But I do (just about!) manage to run FreeBSD :-) How hard is it for non-programmers to learn Zope? Would PHP be easier? How many of you guys graduated from Python to Zope? If I only know HTML can I realistically learn anything beyond the very basics of Zope or am I looking at learning Pyhton in parallel? Should I start with the Zope Book? Should I start learning python at the same time? If Learning Python was hard, which book do you recommend? ======================== http://www.wanwood.co.uk paul(a)wanwood.co.uk The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck is the day Microsoft starts making vacuum cleaners. ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through UK Online webmail

Z SQL Method Question
by Donald Braman 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

I'm trying to build a query with three optional variables and three optional operators. I think I have a form that supplies the variables correctly, but am less certain about DTML use in a SQL query. Here's what I'm doing: SELECT * FROM cases WHERE makepublic = 't' <dtml-if citationin>AND citation <dtml-var citationop> citationin </dtml-if> <dtml-if casenamein>AND casenameshort <dtml-var casenameop> casenamein </dtml-if> <dtml-if yearin>AND year <dtml-var yearop> yearin </dtml-if> Any help/tips/advice appreciated. Calling __call__ from an External Method
by Sebastien Nameche 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

All, Help needed : I want to use an external method to generate a DTML Document in SYLK format. My goal is to permit this : http://my.virtual-net.fr:8080/test/doc will render the DTML Document "doc" in HTML and http://my.virtual-net.fr:8080/test/doc/view_sylk will send the document roughly converted in SYLK. For doing that, I have created a ZClass with "OFS: DTML Document" as base class and added an External Method to this class. I have written (using sgmllib) a very simple parser that converts HTML to SYLK. The problem is that I don't know how to render the DTML source of my document into HTML before converting it into SYLK. I have tried to use "__call__" method in various ways but couldn't find the correct syntax/parameters/namespace to use. Thanks for any help, -- S. Re: [Zope] Problems with Core Session Tracking
by Chris McDonough 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

I presume you're using cookies to track session ids. In this case, you're redirecting to a URL before the browser has gotten an opportunity to send the session id cookie to the server. To get around this, turn on querystring sessionids, and run the redirect URL through encodeUrl for this redirect only (and any other redirects before which you set a session variable and where the next page depends on that session variable). E.g. <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(sessiondatamanager.encodeUrl(URL1 + '/dealer'))"> This will allow the session id manager to get and parse the session-encoded URL on the redirect. If this doesn't work, post back. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Juan Carlos Coruña" <jcoruna(a)ibdosnorte.com> To: "Chris McDonough" <chrism(a)digicool.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2001 1:49 PM Subject: RE: [Zope] Problems with Core Session Tracking I execute: <dtml-let SESSION="sessiondatamanager.getSessionData()"><dtml-call "SESSION.set('N__cliente', '3345')"><dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(URL1 + '/dealer')"></dtml-let> And then in other page if I execute: <dtml-let SESSION="sessiondatamanager.getSessionData()"> <dtml-var "SESSION.get('N__cliente')"> </dtml-let> I obtain None. > -----Mensaje original----- > De: Chris McDonough [mailto:chrism@digicool.com] > Enviado el: martes, 27 de febrero de 2001 20:10 > Para: Juan Carlos Coruña; zope(a)zope.org > Asunto: Re: [Zope] Problems with Core Session Tracking > > > Can you be more specific?
