MS Exchange
by Ian＠Epperson.com 27 Feb '01

My organization uses Microsoft Exchange 5.5 (ptui!) for e-mail and collaboration. We have a Public Folder called "Company Contacts" which is our company-wide contact list. I want to access that from Zope. I'm running Zope off of a Red Hat Linux 6.1 box. There doesn't seem to be a way to get to it from LDAP (grumble), and IMAPv4 is only giving me limited information (Contact Name and Notes). I don't think there's a way to do it with COM or MAPI (as my Zope server is Linux), but I'm not sure. My last ditch will be to write an ASP page running on the Exchange server to present that info to Zope for processing. If anyone could provide me with more insight or better solution, I'd love to hear it. TIA.

- Newbie alert - how to upload multiple images at once with manage_add_image
by stefano.ciccarelli＠thewhitebird.com 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

HI, I am trying to set up a form when a user can upload three images at once: one for a logo, one for a city map and one for a country map. These images are used by a ZClass (Base classes: ZCatalog Aware, Object Manager) to display a hotel web page, with info about this hotel. Authorised users are supposed to create this hotel instance. I created a Hotel_add_form: <HTML> <BODY> <p><h2>Here you can upload hotel logo and maps into the hotel file.</h2></p> <form action="map_add" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <p><b>Logo</b></p> <input type="hidden" name="logo_id" value="logo26"> <p>Title: <input type="text" name="logo_title"> </p> <p>File: <input type="file" name="file"></p><br> <p><b>City map</b></p> <input type="hidden" name="citymap_id" value="map26"> <p>Title: <input type="text" name="citymap_title"> </p> <p>File: <input type="file" name="file"></p><br> <input type="submit"> </form> </BODY> </HTML> and a method map_add <dtml-call expr="manage_addImage( id=logo_id, file=file, title=logo_title)"> <dtml-call expr="manage_addImage( id=citymap_id, file=file, title=citymap_title)"> <p>Thanks for your photo submission.</p> Unfortunately when I try to use it I get the following error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. ImportError of SheetProviderContainer
by Smith, RyanX 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

After trying to install LoginManager 0.8.6 (I was told that 0.8.8b1 was broken for Zope 2.3) I got the following error: Traceback (innermost last): File "/home/zopeadmin/zope/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 530, in import_products product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "/home/zopeadmin/zope/lib/python/Products/LoginManager/__init__.py", line 1, in ? import LoginManager, LoginMethods, UserSources File "/home/zopeadmin/zope/lib/python/Products/LoginManager/LoginManager.py", line 9, in ? from Products.ZPatterns.SheetProviders import SheetProviderContainer ImportError: cannot import name SheetProviderContainer I am somewhat of a Python/Zope newbie and am at a real loss here. I have Zpatterns 0.4.3b2 installed correctly and from what I have read SheetProviderContainer should be part of that... Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance, Ryan

Search Features and Zope Directions Road Map
by Ausum 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

Zope is a great application server, the same as its soon to be released Content Management Framework, because of its bet on Python, everybody say it. Nevertheless, after reading the Directions Roadmap from DC, I was surprised that a substantial improvement of the searching features of Zope, wasn't mentioned as a major concern. For a new Zope enthusiast like me, it is a kind of addiction to arrange and administer content while taking the learning curve. Almost everybody in this list with a non-programming background might've experimented this. But when I arrived to the search features of ZCatalog, I got mixed feelings. (Right now I'm stuck on this OR indexes searching :) ) The fact is that - according to my strong belief - everybody uses more Google to look for Zope Site's content than Zope's own Zcatalog's search engine. Moreover, everybody uses more Google to look for everything, bypassing windows, doors, and portals!. Why? Because it's terribly smart (not mentioning its 6,000 Linux boxes, by the way), and because there's no need to follow the highly-engineered information architecture of a web site, if there's a trustful shorcut to the relevant content!. So, if I'd have to mention one big feature improvement to Zope, I wouldn't doubt: "search engine". I just wanted to point on this subject. I know Zope isn't about spidering and retrieving, but it should have "Greater Search Capabilities" as a title, within that roadmap. :) Ausum p.d. Right now I'm quite interested at the technology of searching and finding non structured content, in order to compose structured documents. For example, the guys at Vignette (StoryServer) say that its customers don't need to keyword anything in order to have a "related content" section. After the writer finishes a story, (possibly while) a routine by Autonomy (www.autonomy.com) reads the document and finds out what the document is about, and so it triggers a search for related content within the site, without the need of intervention by the writer. (For the curious, Autonomy has published a personal version of its software. It's called Kenjin (www.kenjin.com) ). On the other hand, Fast, from Norway, already have a nice multimedia search engine, from regular, non-structured, spidered web pages. Can we do that "structuring the unstructured" thing within Zope?

Applying fmt rules to variables
by Paz 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

Hi all, I have an old system Im migrating that makes use of images that are kept in numbered directories. The mehtod they were saved before required that the whitespace in the names had a +. In other words, something like <dtml-var name url_quote_plus> BUT, I need to actually save these files, and the above formatting rule only seems to be applyable to output. How can I do something like <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('name', lname fmt=url_quote_plus)"> I know thats obviously NOT how to do it, but Im wondering at this point if it is at all, or do I have to rename all 600 files to not use +? I guess, first would be to do a string search and replace, but Im not sure where to start.... Cheers, Paz

[Tree tag] Influencing the tree using the tree-s or tree-e cookie
by Kamon Ayeva 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

Hi, I have searched the lists archive and did not found a solution to my problem. I want to force a tree hierarchy using dtml-tree to expand a specific branch when it is rendered the first time. I use the following Python code borrowed from TreeTag.py (encode_seq() ) to encode the 'id' of the tree item where I want the tree to be opened : from string import join, split, rfind, find, translate from urllib import quote, unquote from zlib import compress, decompress from binascii import b2a_base64, a2b_base64 tbl=join(map(chr, range(256)),'') tplus=tbl[:ord('+')]+'-'+tbl[ord('+')+1:] tminus=tbl[:ord('-')]+'+'+tbl[ord('-')+1:] state=compress(str([id])) l=len(state) if l > 57: states=[] for i in range(0,l,57): states.append(b2a_base64(state[i:i+57])[:-1]) state=join(states,'') else: state=b2a_base64(state)[:-1] l=find(state,'=') if l >= 0: state=state[:l] state=translate(state, tplus) return state *********************************************** The dtml-tree that I want to manipulate is something like : <dtml-let id="''"> <dtml-tree id assume_children=yes id=id branches_expr="an_external_method(PARENT=id, USER=USER)"> <dtml-var title> </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> The problem is that when I display the value returned by this Python code for a given 'id' and compare it to the value of 'tree-e' in the REQUEST, they don't match. And I expect them to match. Can someone give me some lights ? Is my problem related to cookies or is it my encoding function that is used correctly ? Many thanks, Kamon Experts-MD.com

Re: [Zope] Product and accessing DTMLDocument properties

I couldn't either... >Anyway, the management interface itself uses: > > > >You may look at its source in "OFS/dtml/properties.dtml" to see how it is >used. > I looked through properties.dtml... Apparently I didn't read the documentation well enough... Calling the method obj.propertyMap() returns a tuple holding a dictionary of three items (id,type, mode). I wasn't correctly iterating over the tuple and retrieving the dictionary items (id,type) I needed... (slapping forehead) Anyway, I've got what I need working... I am chalking this up to RTFM and OE.
