Add a new instance of product

Does anyone know how I can add an instance of a Product like "ExtFile" in any folder I like using DTML and not using the managementscreen. I only found how to add an instance of an product I designed myself in DTML. Is there something like manage_addExtFile() ? What parameters needs the method? Thanks for helping. Steffen

Adding properties to all objects of a certain type

I want to add certain properties to objects of a certain type without having to use the web interface (there are too many of them)... e.g. I would like to add the following properties to all folders: title_en (string), nickname (string), nickname_en (string), template (string), reviewed (boolean) and the following to all DTML-Documents: lang (string), nickname (string), template (string), keywords (string), author (string), reviewed (boolean) A few documents and folders on the site have these properties already (is this a problem?). And after I add these properties to all documents and folders how do I get Zope to add them to new ones automatically? I want to keep everything as simple as possible... i.e. no Z Class to worry about when upgrading, etc. Concrete examples would be appreciated (theoretically I know it is possible with Zope considering what I have been able to do up to this point as a greenhorn!). updating Squisdot sites 0.3.2->0.7.3

Hi, I am searching for an easy way to upgrade some thirty squishdot sites from version 0.3.2 to 0.7.3. The reason behind all this is that I want to migrate an existing site frome Zope 2.1.6. to Zope 2.2.2. I exported my site from 2.1.6 and imported it in 2.2.2. Then, I tried to be clever and copied all items in the root folder of a newly installed squisdot site (with version 0.7.3) to replace the content of an old 0.3.2-site (residing now in my new Zope install 2.2.2.). Well, it did not work out. Can anybody give me a clue how to go about this upgrade? I tried some idea's, but to no avail. Python Scripts: using the zip function

Does anyone handy with Python Scripts know how to use the built-in function zip, which was introduced in Python 2.0? I'm using Zope 2.3.1 with ActivePython 2.0 build 202 and if I run the python interpreter I get: >>> a = (1,2,3) >>> b = (4,5,6) >>> c = zip(a,b) >>> print c [(1, 4), (2, 5), (3, 6)] But if I try the same thing in a Python Script I get: Error Type: NameError Error Value: There is no variable named 'zip' Kevin Teague http://www.bud.ca

Question about MySQL queries in Python Scripts

Hi, I've written a few python scripts that use some sql queries to a mysql database. I have a script that can access the database and get information ok but i have a sript that tries to insert data to the database, but when i try to run it, i get a zope error that mentions Unauthorized: query. Does anyone know why this is and how to get round it? Cheers Alan

inserting uncle into acquisition chain

I've got an __of__ function: def __of__(self, parent): if not hasattr(self, 'aq_parent'): return ImplicitAcquisitionWrapper(self, parent) else: category = parent.unrestrictedTraverse(self._category._path) return ImplicitAcquisitionWrapper(self, category.__of__(parent)) The goal is to insert another object (self._category) into my objects context (so security settings on the category can be inherited by this object). It mostly works, however the chain is broken above my containing parent: ob.aq_inner.aq_parent -- is not a wrapper This results in all kinds of failures in ZopeSecurityPolicy.validate. Any suggestions? I still don't fully understand how this is supposed to work. Thanks, -Randy

That message probably means there is a syntax error. If you select your product in the control panel, it will show you the details.
