Are you sure? I cannot believe that! Anyway, the management interface itself uses: <dtml-in propertyMap mapping> You may look at its source in "OFS/dtml/properties.dtml" to see how it is used. Error when installing LoginManager
by Smith, RyanX 26 Feb '01

26 Feb '01

I am trying to Install Login Manager under Zope 2.3 and in the Management Control Panel under LoginManager I am getting this: Traceback (innermost last): File "/home/zopeadmin/zope/lib/python/OFS/Application.py", line 530, in import_products product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "/home/zopeadmin/zope/lib/python/Products/LoginManager/__init__.py", line 1, in ? import LoginManager, LoginMethods, UserSources File "/home/zopeadmin/zope/lib/python/Products/LoginManager/LoginManager.py", line 121, in ? raise 'InstallError', ( InstallError: No access file found at /home/zopeadmin/zope - see INSTALL.txt I searched through the archives and all I could see on how to fix this program was running python zpasswd.py to create my "access" file. I have already done this and I am still getting the same error. Has anyone seen this or know of a resolution that I am somehow missing? Thanks

It just does not have a (visible) name (the name is "__call__", which you cannot use in DTML as all names starting with "_" are private). You can just call it or use the "View" tab in the management interface. > I tried to write such a method myself - without success. <dtml-var expr="_.render(this())"> as a DTML method will do it. HENRY Katell writes: > I would like to know how to read an email on Zope ? What do you mean with "read an email on Zope"? How do you get the email? Does it sit somewhere in an email folder? Or do you want Zope to behave like a mail (SMTP) server? Look into the (searchable) list archive (maybe of zope-dev). There was a product that allows Zope to read in emails. You may look at "wordpilot", too. Dieter

Help files permission settings
by Farrell, Troy 26 Feb '01

26 Feb '01

I was cleaning up my permissions settings, and I've inadvertantley closed off the Structured Text Help Files. Symptoms: When a manager clicks the Help link in the upper right corner, a new window pops up. The Help tree on the left shows up as expected, however, the pages on the right are inaccessible and give me a login prompt. The superuser (or should I say inituser) can get the files. I'll try any suggestions as I do really find the help helpful :) TIA, Troy

Or equally well in a product? I would not call these low level methods directly (though it may work) but use the higher level Z SQL methods. This way, it would be ensured that the use plays well with Zope's transaction subsystem. Dieter

I see this behavior in both of the > versions of Zope that we run locally -- 2.2.4 and 2.3.1b1. It's an implementation artifact: Python's "string.split('','\n')" returns "['']", as is probably correct as "string.split('a','\n')" should return "['a']". Dieter

approach for assigning ODBC results to fieldnames as variables?
by Bill Seitz 26 Feb '01

26 Feb '01

When you execute a SQL (select) query via ODBC and do a fetchall(), you get back a result set as a tuple (array). You can also ask for the cursor's description, which returns a separate tuple, the first column of which contains the fieldnames (or other labels calculated by SQL). Getting back an unlabelled tuple means that when you want to write out a table of results (with some individual handling of various fields, not just dumbly iterating over the columns), you end up with an ugly line like: Response.Write('<tr><td>%s<td>%s<td>%s<td><a href="matterEdit.asp?clientID=%s&matterID=%s">%s</a><td>%s<td>%s</tr>' % (row[0],row[1],row[2],row[1],row[3],row[3],row[4],row[5])) (this is a Python-via-IIS model, but would be similar under Apache, etc.). Is there a standard approach to assigning field names to columns, so that this output line could be changed to something like Response.Write('<tr><td>%s<td>%s<td>%s<td><a href="matterEdit.asp?clientID=%s&matterID=%s">%s</a><td>%s<td>%s</tr>' % (maxDate, clientID, clientName, clientID, jobID, jobID, jobName, totalHours)) or even at least something like Response.Write('<tr><td>%s<td>%s<td>%s<td><a href="matterEdit.asp?clientID=%s&matterID=%s">%s</a><td>%s<td>%s</tr>' % (maxDate[i], clientID[i], clientName[i], clientID[i], jobID[i], jobID[i], jobName[i], totalHours[i])) thx for your help... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? You may look at the ZCatalog section in URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html Maybe, the Zope book, too, tells precisely, what options the ZCatalog supports. Dieter

However if I try those won't= > =20 > be executed/rendered properly. i end up with the exact dtml tags send to > the browser.=20 Properties are considered simple meta data. It is not forseen to render them. You have several options: * make your objects folderish ZInstances and use DTML objects as complex property replacements. You will loose property defaults defined by the class * use a Python Script or External Method to explicitly convert your property string value into a DocumentTemplate Dieter
