inserting uncle into acquisition chain
by Randall F. Kern 27 Feb '01

27 Feb '01

I've got an __of__ function: def __of__(self, parent): if not hasattr(self, 'aq_parent'): return ImplicitAcquisitionWrapper(self, parent) else: category = parent.unrestrictedTraverse(self._category._path) return ImplicitAcquisitionWrapper(self, category.__of__(parent)) The goal is to insert another object (self._category) into my objects context (so security settings on the category can be inherited by this object). It mostly works, however the chain is broken above my containing parent: ob.aq_inner.aq_parent -- is not a wrapper This results in all kinds of failures in ZopeSecurityPolicy.validate. Any suggestions? I still don't fully understand how this is supposed to work. Thanks, -Randy

RE: [Zope] DTML documents as properties of python product classes

That message probably means there is a syntax error. If you select your product in the control panel, it will show you the details. As for using the DTML document, you will need to call it at the end of your function: return self.vote_results(self, self.REQUEST) -Randy -----Original Message----- From: Keith Alperin [mailto:KAlperin@ignitemedia.com] Sent: Monday, February 26, 2001 5:51 PM To: Zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] DTML documents as properties of python product classes Greetings Zope folks. I am a bit of a newbie here and am attempting to use a DTML document as a property of a class of a python product. To do so, I have done the following (using the TutorialPoll as my example): #...snip vote_results = Globals.HTMLFile("vote_results", globals()) def castVote(self, choice): "Votes for a choice" vote_count = self.getVotesFor(choice) self._votes[choice] = vote_count + 1 return self.vote_results #the rest of my class Upon restarting Zope, I get "(This object from the TutorialPoll product is broken!)" next to my object in the management interface. Any incite that any of you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks so much, Keith R. Alperin

zope mail archives

Perhaps offtopic... Downloaded archive mailboxes (for individual months) http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/. Put them into Netscape messenger folder. Works nicely but each message appears twice. Any hints? Except downloading the whole raw archive in MBOX format :-) 98MB is quite a lot, and makes no sense to download larger and larger archive each month... Thanks for any help! -- Milos Prudek

I am writing a program that would allow me to send email with attachments. The code works, however instead of attachments I get the actual contects of the attachments. If anybody knows how to solve this problem in python I would be grateful for your help. #!/bin/usr/env python import smtplib import pdb import MimeWriter import quopri, base64 import StringIO import sys def shoot(msgFrom, msgTo, msgSubj, msgBody): mailSvr = "" server = smtplib.SMTP(mailSvr) msg1 = "From: %s\nTo: %s\nSubject: %s\n\n%s" % (msgFrom, msgTo, msgSubj, msgBody) retVal = server.sendmail(from_addr=msgFrom, to_addrs=msgTo, msg=msg1) server.quit() return (retVal) def main(): inputFile = open("readit.dat", "r") attachment = open("result.jpg", "rb") mimefile = open("output.msg", "w") #create output file object needed by quopri.encode() mimemsg = MimeWriter.MimeWriter(sys.stdout) mimemsg.addheader("Mime-Version", "1.0") mimemsg.startmultipartbody("mixed") msgpart = mimemsg.nextpart() msgpart.addheader("Content-Transfer-Encoding", "quoted-printable") msgpart.startbody("text/plain") quopri.encode(inputFile, mimefile, 0) msgpart = mimemsg.nextpart() msgpart.addheader("Content-Transfer-Encoding", "base64") msgpart.startbody("image/jpeg") quopri.encode(attachment, mimefile, 0) mimemsg.lastpart() mimefile.close() messageFile = open("output.msg", "r") messageBody = messageFile.read() shoot("knejad(a)codeit.com", "knejad(a)codeit.com", "test", messageBody) inputFile.close() attachment.close() messageFile.close() #pdb.set_trace() main() #pdb.set_trace()

Why require "Manager" for changing Z SQL Method?
by Kyler B. Laird 26 Feb '01

26 Feb '01

I'm using Zope 2.3.0 and ZOracleDA 2.2.0b1. Users are starting to take advantage of the Oracle connections, but have been frustrated because they are unable to change Z SQL Methods. (They just keep creating new ones.) I think I've determined that a user *must* have "Manager" role in order to edit a Z SQL Method. The setting of "Change Database Method" doesn't seem to matter. I even gave it to Anonymous and it wouldn't go. Does someone have a quicky patch/kludge to get around this for awhile? It's not immediately obvious to me how to bypass it. Thanks. --kyler

This issue was brought up many times before, both before and after Tino's patch was made available. DC has always either ignored or refused the request, citing some irrelevant concern about polluting the namespace. Open Source Community != Democracy. For now, I'd like to know if anyone succeeded in applying the patch to the DT_In.py in Zope 2.3 - I'm running Zope 2.3 with a patched DT_In from 2.2, and I don't like it.
