2.3.0 Solaris build corrupted?

> Hi everybody, I downloaded the 2.3.0 solaris build. Gunzip goes well. It gives me a checksum error while untarring. Then, I managed to start (tar xvif ignores checksums) it but there isn't at least the HTTPCacheManager product. I've got exactly the same error with 2.3.1b1 solaris tgz. Well, I can't see where the problem is. Maybe somebody else can. At this point, I would start tracing. You might want to start by uncommenting the line #import pdb; pdb.set_trace() # debug in the trigger method of Xron DTMLMethod.py. Then you can examine your namespace, and maybe figure out what's missing. This method works when I run it as a regular DTML Document, but it hits an "Attribute Error on self.setObject when I run it as an Xron. DTML and Lists

Hello, I'd pretty much a newbie at Zope and running into some problems. I have to make a <dtml-tree> with it's branches being fetched from a database, that's already done but I also need to carry a variable with the whole hierarchy to the last leaf of the tree. Something like (time for nasty ascii art): +- Software 0 | +- Operational System 0.1 | +- Linux 0.1.1 | +- FreeBSD 0.1.2 +- Hardware 3 Those numbers are indexes on the database, when someone clicks on "Linux" I want to query the database for items that are related to Software/OS/Linux. I understand that I could use Zope's own file system facilities but I'm afraid if this solution is scaleable to, maybe, thousands of categories(folders). Reading <dtml-tree>'s docs I've found a list that carries what I want, "tree-state", but I have no idea on how to access list's members on DTML. I've tried <dtml-var tree-state[0]> with no success. Any suggestions or solutions? Thanks in advance Leo

I'd like to get access to a bunch of libraries that Python has, like "re" and "time" and "xml" and "md5", etc. What is the standard way that I can go about doing this?

Zope stores pickles (--> Python documentation) for objects. A pickle for a class instance (usually) consists of a class reference and the pickles for the instance's members. A class reference consists of the module the class is defined in and the class name. Due to this implementation, there are a number of restrictions: * Python's pickle module requires the class to be defined at the global level of the module. This is because unpickling will import the module and then needs to access the class through its name. This would not be possible, if the class were defined in deeper structures. * "External Method" source files are not imported as modules by Zope but are instead read. For Python's pickle module, it appears as though they belong to the module "__main__". Of course, if Python imports "__main__" and looks for your class (defined in the External Method source file), it will not find the class. Thus, your object cannot be unpickled. Dieter

If you really need, you may extend "sendmail": The usual proceedure would be to provide an additional attribute "smtphost_expr" that behaves exactly like "smtphost" but expects a Python expression as attribute value, evaluates it and the uses it as "smtphost" would do, if it got this attribute. The attributes of "dtml-mime" have been extended along this line. You may look at them on how to implement it. Dieter

In Python, the "." is not part of a name (as in DTML) but it is an operator: the left operand is an object, the right one a name and the result is the object's attribute of the given name. You can use, e.g. "_['table.name']" to access the object with name "table.name" from Python.
