Product release: ExtFile/ExtImage 1.1.0.beta1
by Gregor Heine 20 Feb '01

20 Feb '01

ExtFile/ExtImage Product 1.1.0.beta1 has just been released. Get it at http://www.zope.org/Members/MacGregor/ExtFile The new Version comes with many, many internal changes and some new features which will (hopefully) make ExtFile/ExtImage even more reliable: - You can set a 'level of undo' which determines in wich cases the external file is overwritten/deleted or renamed to '.undo'. - 'id collision bug' fixed, which caused unreferenced files in the repository, when an id of a new object already existed (thanks to Fred Yanowski). Instead of in the __init__ method, the file data is now passed to the object after it has been successfully added, via manage_file_upload. - 'wrong file size bug' fixed, which caused a wrong file size and resolution of the image and preview, after a new file was uploaded followed by an undo of this transaction. The filesize and resolution attributes have been replaced by corresponding methods which determine the respective value directtly from the file(e.g. width(), height(), prev_size(), ...) - Objects can be assigned an alternative id (instead of the filename) by the optional 'id' field in the manage_add method of ExtFile and ExtImage. - Uploaded preview images can be resized during upload (like the generated previews). - Images can be dynamically resized (thanks to Arno Gross): the index_html method now has two additional parameters ('width' and 'height') which cause the image to be resized on the fly. - Documentation updated. Because the product was rewritten in big parts this release is a beta version which might still have some bugs. I haven't had too much time for testing, so please report me any bug you find. I hope I will be ableto publish the next stable release within the next two or three weeks.

Help with multiple SQL statements in Interbase?
by Jason.Jones＠awl.com 20 Feb '01

20 Feb '01

I have an Interbase 6.0 database on Win32 and I'm using the 0.9.2 version of the gvidb, but I'm running into problems with Z SQL queries like the following: insert into users (username, pword, email, lastname, firstname, chrome) values(<dtml-sqlvar username type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar expr="mkpword(password)" type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar email type="string">,<dtml-sqlvar lastname type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar firstname type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar chrome type="string">) <dtml-var sql_delimiter> insert into users_roles (UID, ROLEID) values(gen_id(UID_GEN,0), <dtml-sqlvar user_role type="string">) The SQL looks right and the first part of the query (before the delimiter) is executed and committed. The second part (which adds a user's role) never gets submitted. Is there a problem with sending multiple SQL statements to interbase in the same method? If so, is there a workaround, these need to go in the same transaction to insure that gen_id gives me the correct value. Thanks, Jason Jones jason.jones(a)awl.com

Re: [Zope] Starting a hosting business
by timhaines＠paradise.net.nz 20 Feb '01

Hi Jake, Thanks for your reply regarding the setting up hosting facilities. I don't think the overhead of running multiple zopes will be a problem (until I approach > 10 clients). Is this as simple as setting up multple instance homes and having them all point at the one version of zope, or do I need one install of zope for each instance home too? I guess the other thing I need to think about is how a request is directed to each instance of zope. I know I can get an instance to listen to just one ip address, so if each domain had it's own ip address, that would be fine. However, if multiple sites share the same ip address, how would I send the request to the correct instance? (using zserver) I hope these questions make sense. Tim Haines.

Documentation Questions
by Andrew Williams 20 Feb '01

20 Feb '01

I have a couple of questions about the best place to get information on objects, methods and properties. Specifically, I am trying to figure out what kind of methods and properties record objects have. I have tried looking through the source code, the mailing list and zope.org, but unfortunately I can't seem to find any info. Can anyone help "steer" me in the right direction? Thanks, Andrew Williams ___________________________________________________________________________ Visit http://www.visto.com/info, your free web-based communications center. Visto.com. What about Dreamweaver 4? I also heard XMetal would support WebDav as well... Re: [Zope] Strange TransactionError in ZODB
by Chris McDonough 20 Feb '01

Do you allow image uploads? Do you use the catalog? If so in either of these cases, subtransction changes in 2.3.1 b1 might help solve the problem. It also may be an error in the transaction code in either SQLSession or MySQLDA. I'd try 2.3.1 final when it comes out. If you're in a hurry, you can try the beta 1 of 2.3.1 which is available on Zope.org. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Harald Koschinski" <Harald(a)koschinski.com> To: "Chris McDonough" <chrism(a)digicool.com> Sent: Friday, February 16, 2001 11:28 AM Subject: Re: [Zope] Strange TransactionError in ZODB Chris McDonough wrote: > > You didn't receive a StorageTransactionError, you received a > TransactionError. ansychat.py internal error
by Leichtman, David J 20 Feb '01

20 Feb '01

Can anyone tell me why this might be happening? Recently, and for no apparent reason, the ZServer's been throwing socket errors from ansychat.py's initiate_send. What could cause this? I don't even know where to start in debugging. It seems to be random, and not tied to any particular access or event. It's kind of agrevating when there's no straightforward way to track down the error. And I don't know how to get any more info. I've run in debug mode with a debug log, and run it through the analyzer script, but to no avail. Doesn't produce any errors. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Zope 2.2.2 on Solaris. Example errors below: 2001-02-20T16:02:35 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <FCGIChannel connected 127.0.0.1:54515 at 7be948> (socket.error:(32, 'Broken pipe') [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asynchat.py|initiate_send|211] [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py|send|274]) ------ 2001-02-20T16:04:50 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <FCGIChannel connected 127.0.0.1:54630 at 7cf3e8> (socket.error:(32, 'Broken pipe') [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asynchat.py|initiate_send|211] [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py|send|274]) ------ 2001-02-20T16:05:44 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <FCGIChannel connected 127.0.0.1:54317 at 7b7018> (socket.error:(32, 'Broken pipe') [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asynchat.py|initiate_send|211] [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py|send|274])

RE: [Zope] newbie batching question
by Farrell, Troy 20 Feb '01

I could be mistaken, but change your line: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Images')" size=1 start=query_start> to this: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Image')" size=1 start=query_start> Right now, you are looking for the values of each 'Images', not each Image. Troy -----Original Message----- From: Chris Cioffi [mailto:zope@stopthesanity.org] Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2001 9:37 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] newbie batching question Hi all, I'm starting to dig into learning Zope. I read through a tutorial and have been working a bit with the Zope Book and there's where I hit a problem. I'm trying to modify the batching example to create a slideshow. Here's what I've got: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Images')" size=1 start=query_start> <p>display for any items found: <dtml-var sequence-item></p> </dtml-in> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> (This is stripped down from the code in Chapter 7.) I've put this in the same folder as the Images and all I get is the header and footer text with a blank body. (I'll get the sorting later...) Any pointers would be welcome. Thanks, Chris PS: I've seen the Photo product on the website however the archive is corrupted everytime I download it... _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
