SV: [Zope] Matching a date that's in a Zcatalog field index
by Geir Bækholt 19 Feb '01

19 Feb '01

you could always try something like <untested> <dtml-in "NewsCatalog(_.DateTime.isCurrentDay(CreateDate))"> </untested> hope it works.. :-) Geir Bækholt geirh(a)funcom.com >I've set a CreateDate property on a bunch of files--basically, i grab the >ZopeTime at the time of the DTML Document's creation and write it to a >CreateDate property of type date. Now I'm trying to pull individual dates >out of the Catalog--for instance, to show all of the stories written today. >What's the proper syntax for matching this stuff? This doesn't work: > ><dtml-in "NewsCatalog(CreateDate.Date()=_.ZopeTime().Date())"> > ></dtml-in>

Zope products install issue
by Andrei Cenja 19 Feb '01

19 Feb '01

Hello ! I've successfully installed Zope 2.3.0 on an Intel machine running RHL 7.0. But when I try to install additional modules for Python (mysqlmodule, for instance), they "discover" the RH Python and happily install themselves into /usr/lib/python/site-packages. So when I install the MySQL DA in the Zope Products directory, it reports that Python can't find the mysqlmodule, which is no surprise as Zope comes with and runs on its own Python. So I have to copy the site-packages directory from the RH 7 Python to the Zope Python, and then everything works out fine. But this isn't an elegant way at all. Could someone give me a hint to solve this some other way ? Or tell me what I am doing wrong ? Thank you. Andrei Cenja, Bucharest, Romania.

Your Web server has closed the communication channel to Zope, maybe due to a timeout (Zope may have been too slow to answer). It should not be a problem, though. Dieter

RE: [Zope] Upgrading to 2.3.0 from 2.2.0
by Kit O'Connell 19 Feb '01

I would say go for it -- Zope 2.3.0 is real nice -- but first test it to make sure the new version is compatible with all of your Products. I haven't been able to upgrade my largest Zope site because 2.3.0 has problems w/ the EventFolder product. -- Kit O'Connell Zope Administrator kito(a)clearcommerce.com 'yes is a world & in this world of yes live (skilfully curled) all worlds' - e.e. cummings -----Original Message----- From: Christian Adams [mailto:christian.adams@RevolutionLtd.com] Sent: Monday, February 19, 2001 9:09 AM To: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: [Zope] Upgrading to 2.3.0 from 2.2.0 Anyone had any bad experiences with this? I want to upgrade to 2.3.0 on both a Linux (RedHat 6.2) platform and an NT4 platform from 2.2.0 but want things to go smoothly. I've read the upgrading info on zope.org but want to get the opinions of fellow Zopers so I know what to watch out for. Any advice much appreciated. Can something like an onClick=document.Form.submit() > work here and tell zope to read the request? You may look at the Collector. I posted a patch there, that allows to use ":method" suffixes even for image buttons. The patch was for Zope 2.1.6. Now (Zope 2.3), there is an alias ":action" for ":method". The patch would need to be extended accordingly. Dieter

Programmers Awards
by Andy McKay 19 Feb '01

19 Feb '01

I can think of a few Zope gurus who could fall into this category: ActiveState is delighted to kick off the first annual Programmers' Choice and Activators' Choice Awards. We'd like to honor those unnamed heroes who've *actively* contributed to making Perl and Python the most popular open source programming languages. Accordingly we'd like your input for the Programmers' Choice http://www.ActiveState.com/Awards for Perl and Python. Know someone whose code design rocks? We'd like to hear from you! We're also acknowledging those we deem worthy for their accomplishments with Perl and Python in an Activators' Choice award. Following a month long discussion period of late caffeine-filled nights, our dev team will through a rigorous evaluation process cast their votes for one deserving Perl and Python programmer. Here's how it works: - Fill out the nomination form to make your nominations NOW. Programmers' Choice http://www.ActiveState.com/Awards - Check back on Feb. 20, 2001 to see the list of the top nominees. - Vote for one of the finalists from Feb. 21 to March 5, 2001. Get out the vote and stay tuned. Winners will receive a cool trophy and will be announced March 6, 2001. -- Andy McKay. ActiveState.

Starting a hosting business
by tim haines 19 Feb '01

19 Feb '01

Hi there, I've developed a few zope applications for various clients now, and I'm looking at offering them hosting facilities. I'm trying to get a handle on the best way to run multiple 'sites' from one computer. What I'd like to do is run x.com, y.com, and z.com from 3 different data.fs files. My research over the last couple of hours points me to running a master data.fs, and using the siteaccess/siteroot products to redirect incoming requests to folders which are actually external storages. Does anyone else use this approach? If so, and there any tricks or traps I should watch out for? If I wanted to replace the z.com data.fs with a new one, would I have to shut down the master.fs, or just copy the old one over the new one? Does anyone run more than one instance of zope at once to serve multiple data.fs's? What are the other approaches in use? Suggestions? Cheers! Tim.

RE: [Zope] adding zclass instance dynamically

Correction Oliver, I RECEIVED a response from Dieter (thanks!) <quote> Try "_.getitem(type)". "_[type]" calls the object, if it happens to be callable. This can easily result in a string, at least in a different object type. </quote> I tried it, and it works! -----Message d'origine----- De : Oliver Frommel [mailto:oliver@aec.at] Envoyé : lundi 19 février 2001 11:49 À : zope(a)zope.org Objet : [Zope] adding zclass instance dynamically Hello, how can I add a ZClass depending on a form value? I have a form variable called "type" which contains the type of ZClass I want to add: the "static" way is (working): <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['MyObjects']"> <dtml-with "article1.createInObjectManager(id, REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.Basic.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> now the form variable "type" either contains the string "article1" or "article2". but calling <dtml-with "_[type].createInObjectManager(id, REQUEST)"> doesn't work. what's the right way to do this? thanks --Oliver _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
