DTML method is export.txt and it contains the following: --------------------- Content-type: text/plain <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('delimiter', '|')"> REG_ID<dtml-var delimiter>NAME<dtml-var delimiter>. . . <dtml-in sqlAllRecords sort="NAME"> <dtml-var REG_ID><dtml-var delimiter><dtml-var NAME><dtml-var delimiter>. . . </dtml-in> ---------------------- I could clean it up a bit more and make it more versitile, but haven't gotten to it. MailHost product?
by Edwin Martin 15 Feb '01

15 Feb '01

Hello, After upgrading to Zope 2.2.4, I can't mail anymore. I have a page which sends an e-mail. I'm sure the proxy-settings are ok. It still won't work. I clicked 'MailHost' I once added to the root and it gives an error. Deleting the MailHost and trying to add a new one also gives an error: "Resource not found". No big deal. Lets find an updated MailHost product. The easiest way: I type 'MailHost' in the search-box. 17 Items found, but no MailHost product. Let's try the 'Advanced search'. Here, I can select a category, so I select 'Product release'. No results... I go to the download-page on the Zope website. I try all 'obvious' categories, but MailHost is in none of them. But fortunately, there is always the 'catch-all' 'All Zope Products'. The page says: "They are listed in alphabetical order". The page begins with 'Refresh'. Right. So I click 'Title'. There are 284 products. I can't click the 'M' for MailHost, so I have to browse... Click-wait-click-wait-click-wait.... 'Macromedia Generator 2 Adapter', 'Managed Mode additions to ZWiki'... What? No MailHost?? Grrr. And this is certainly not the first time I couldn't find the stuff I need. Please help me! Why is there no good documentation? Why is Zope so baaad? Why didn't I had these problems with Perl, PHP, C or Java? Why does this Zope-project takes twice as long as any other project? Edwin Martin.

How to make an existing Zclass catalog aware
by stefano.ciccarelli＠thewhitebird.com 15 Feb '01

Hi everybody, I am using the Managed Meeting product to set up a course management site. Since Managed Meeting is totally built on Zclasses I would like to make these classes catalog aware, so I can make canned searches and display different kind of courses, depending on the user interest. I still did not create any object from these classes Is there any way to make an existing class catalog aware? Thanks, Stefano

Why does ZPublisher Client screw up request path?
by Kyler B. Laird 15 Feb '01

15 Feb '01

I've been trying to follow the example at http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/ZClientMethod for using ZPublisher Client to grab some info via HTTP. While this works for URLs like http://www.ecn.purdue.edu/~laird/test/set it fails for http://www.ecn.purdue.edu/Engr/ because __init__ has while url[-1:]=='/': url=url[:-1] I suggest that a "Don't mess with my path" flag be added. Since I'm calling this through an External Method, I can set the flag there so that users won't have to see it. Thank you. --kyler

External Method - "context" arg
by Tom Sheffler 15 Feb '01

15 Feb '01

The Zope book chapter "Advanced Zope Scripting" shows a method with an arg list like this: def makeThumbnail(context, original_id, size=128): When I create a method with the "context" arg, Zope complains that the parameter "context" was omitted from the request. THE REAL QUESTION::: Using a Python Method, it's easy to get the variables "context" and "travers_subpath." How do I get these two values when using an External Method. Thanks for any assistance. re:[Zope] MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc
by Oliver Bleutgen 15 Feb '01

Just one small addition to many excellent points which were brought up in other postings. If maximum size of a row is of interest, be sure to check also this data out. IIRC, since version 7.1, postgresql's maximum row size is very big, (2 GB?), don't know wheter mysql is also capable of that. cheers, oliver
