How to make an existing Zclass catalog aware

Hi everybody, I am using the Managed Meeting product to set up a course management site. Since Managed Meeting is totally built on Zclasses I would like to make these classes catalog aware, so I can make canned searches and display different kind of courses, depending on the user interest. I still did not create any object from these classes Is there any way to make an existing class catalog aware? Thanks, Stefano

Update to Zope 2.3.0 ?

Our current Zope Version is 2.4.0. Is it possible to update on Version 2.3.0 without installing the full version of 2.3.0 ? Steffen

Why does ZPublisher Client screw up request path?

I've been trying to follow the example at http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/ZClientMethod for using ZPublisher Client to grab some info via HTTP. While this works for URLs like http://www.ecn.purdue.edu/~laird/test/set it fails for http://www.ecn.purdue.edu/Engr/ because __init__ has while url[-1:]=='/': url=url[:-1] I suggest that a "Don't mess with my path" flag be added. Since I'm calling this through an External Method, I can set the flag there so that users won't have to see it. Thank you. --kyler

when using time in python script at zope,

I read ZB and try to make my own guestbook. If you read ZB, you probably know the GUESTBOOK chapter and, the addEntry pytho script. I try using time, import time id = entry_%f % time.time() no error found but when I run this script browser ask me id and password. of course I setting the proxy manager, anonymous .. but not work. what is the problem?

External Method - "context" arg

The Zope book chapter "Advanced Zope Scripting" shows a method with an arg list like this: def makeThumbnail(context, original_id, size=128): When I create a method with the "context" arg, Zope complains that the parameter "context" was omitted from the request. THE REAL QUESTION::: Using a Python Method, it's easy to get the variables "context" and "travers_subpath." How do I get these two values when using an External Method. Thanks for any assistance. Just one small addition to many excellent points which were brought up in other postings. If maximum size of a row is of interest, be sure to check also this data out. IIRC, since version 7.1, postgresql's maximum row size is very big, (2 GB?), don't know wheter mysql is also capable of that. cheers, oliver

_mysql.so causes problem

Infinite problems with MySQL and Zope and MySQL-python (which used to be called MySQLdb before right) - I downloaded the latest MySQL-python 0.3.3 - Followed the instructions carefully. Had to install the python-devel kit for Distutils. - # python setup.py build and install gave me a C parse error at line 1678 in _mysqlmodule.c which I fixed. Anyhow I now have a file called _mysql.so in /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/ <zopedir> ./start Complains the usual (common problem according to endless searches on the mailing list archive) Traceback (innermost last): ImportError: No module named _mysql So I copy /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/_mysql.so to <zopedir>/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/ Now this is the error I get: 2001-02-15T13:00:06 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't import Products.ZMySQLDA Traceback (innermost last): File /home/zope/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 530, in import_products (Object: string) File /home/zope/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/__init__.py, line 91, in ?
