_mysql.so causes problem
by Peter Bengtsson 15 Feb '01

Infinite problems with MySQL and Zope and MySQL-python (which used to be called MySQLdb before right) - I downloaded the latest MySQL-python 0.3.3 - Followed the instructions carefully. Had to install the python-devel kit for Distutils. - # python setup.py build and install gave me a C parse error at line 1678 in _mysqlmodule.c which I fixed. Anyhow I now have a file called _mysql.so in /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/ <zopedir> ./start Complains the usual (common problem according to endless searches on the mailing list archive) Traceback (innermost last): ImportError: No module named _mysql So I copy /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/_mysql.so to <zopedir>/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/ Now this is the error I get: 2001-02-15T13:00:06 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't import Products.ZMySQLDA Traceback (innermost last): File /home/zope/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 530, in import_products (Object: string) File /home/zope/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/__init__.py, line 91, in ? File /home/zope/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/DA.py, line 91, in ? File /home/zope/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/db.py, line 89, in ? ImportError: /home/zope/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/ZMySQLDA/_mysql.so: undefined symbol: Py_InitModule3 In the mailing list archives I've seen this error before, but no concrete solution other than "check your paths to mysql" etc. Zope 2.3.0 RedHat 6.2 Mysql 2.23.32 Python 1.5.2 (with python-devel) Can somebody suggest a good _combination of versions_ to be used because the box hasn't been hooked up yet and we can reinstall a lot from scratch if necessary. Really really grateful for advice, Peter

MailHost problem after upgrading to 2.2.4
by Edwin Martin 15 Feb '01

15 Feb '01

I have upgraded my Zope to 2.2.4. Now my MailHost product will not work anymore. On the Zope website I can't find information to solve this. Before the upgrade, I had in the Zope-root a MailHost instance, which worked ok. After the upgrade, mail didn't work and when I clicked the MailHost instance, I got an error. I deleted the instance and now, when I'm addind a new MailHost instance, I get an error. I entered: Id: MailHost SMTP Host: <my-ip-number> SMTP Port: 25 When I look in Control Panel -> MailHost, I see a Help folder. This is the error I get after 'adding' a MailHost: <TD WIDTH="90%"> <H2>Zope Error</H2> <P>Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. </P> <P><STRONG>Resource not found</STRONG></P> Sorry, the requested Zope resource does not exist. --> <HR NOSHADE> <P>Troubleshooting Suggestions</P> <UL> <LI>The URL may be incorrect.</LI> <LI>The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect.</LI> <LI>A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error.</LI> </UL> <P>For more detailed information about the error, please refer to the HTML source for this page. </P> <P>If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. RE: [Zope] How to insert NULL values
by Farrell, Troy 15 Feb '01

Ok. Now for my next magic trick: I would try modifying the ZSQL method. Try something like: INSERT INTO introduzioni ( codice_fiscale, distretto, marca_precedente ) VALUES ( <dtml-sqlvar CODICE_FISCALE type="int">, <dtml-sqlvar DISTRETTO type="string">, <dtml-if "_str(marca_precedente) == ''"> NULL <dtml-else> <dtml-sqlvar marca_precedente type="string"> </dtml-if> <dtml-var sql_delimiter> This will Submit NULL (not 'NULL') if the string is empty. I didn't test this, so it might have a bug or two :) Note that your ZSQL method may be totally different, and I am just guessing at it based upon your parameters. Storing un-persistable objects in session (or Zope)
by Etienne Labuschagne 15 Feb '01

15 Feb '01

Hi all I have a COM component that I need to access from Zope. I must either put this component into a session so that I can carry it around wherever the user goes OR I must put it into a global object store where I can extract it whenever I need it. My problem is: making a class according to Zope's persitence rules does not work as I get a cPickle.Pickling error (I guess a COM object cannot be pickled). Saving the creation parameters and instantiating the COM object every time I need it is really not going to work as the COM object connects to a remove server and the connection time can be lengthy. I must store the object in something where it will be accessible for the lifetime of the Zope service (or some other arbitrary timeout). Will the following type of solution work (I hate global variables!) or is that basically all I can do: In my external method: objectStore = {} def GetObject(self, name): global objectStore return objectStore[name] def SetObject(self, name, params): global objectStore objectStore[name] = myComObjectWrapper(params) #creates the com object How will namespaces, module namespaces and multiple threads affect the accessibility and/or contents of objectStore? Any help, pointers, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Regards Etienne

Translator Product
by Helmut Toplitzer 15 Feb '01

Hi! Im using Zope 2.2.5 and the Translator Product... But I'm running into troubles. I found no way of doing the following http://www.website.com/FH1/index_html finding http://www.website.com/de/FH1/index_html or http://www.website.com/en/FH1/index_html It looks like Translator doesn't try to keep the folder hierarchy. Has someone a hint how to implement this? Ciao. Helmut -- My GNUpg Fingerprint 1355 4103 AC62 6818 DBC9 48B1 8D7D 6250 2D92 B100

I did a clean install (on w2k), then copied across my products and Data.fs etc and when I restarted I got the following when I tried to access manage_main on the root folder.
