ProxyVia patch
by Blandford, Simon [BSS Audio UK] 09 Feb '01

Quick question... Is the ProxyVia patch shown on page... http://www.zope.org/Members/unfo/apache_zserver_ssl ...a change to ProxyVia in Apache, or is it to add ProxyVia to some old version of Apache which didn't have it already? I have Apache on a Cobalt server and don't fancy re-compiling it. I have ProxyVia turned on but ZWiki doesn't completely work (Zope 2.3). Do I need to apply this patch to fix it? What would happen if I didn't? I know that's a few questions but if anyone can answer even one of them I would be most grateful. Regards, Simon.

"finished" product guidelines
by Chris McDonough 09 Feb '01

09 Feb '01

Hi all, I'd like input on a proposal to standardize a little more on product distribution and packaging at http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Proposals/FinishedProductGuidelines. The idea is to come up with a set of packaging and documentation guidelines intended to be followed by product developers in order to provide a better user experience to people attempting to locate products and use products they get from Zope.org.

You can finish the project while the Java/RDBMS jockeys are still arguing about the relational schema :) Tres. -- =============================================================== Tres Seaver tseaver(a)digicool.com Digital Creations "Zope Dealers" http://www.zope.org

WebDAV directory browsing
by Lucas Taylor 09 Feb '01

09 Feb '01

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to disable directory browsing through WebDAV. When using IE5's web folder support, and connecting to the Zope server, I am able to view all of the objects in the root folder and down (Control Panel, etc...). This doesn't happen with a standard http request, where I'll either be served the index_html object, or get a resource not found error if there is none. If I try to create folders or copy files from a local system to the Zope server via WebDAV, I am asked for a password, so that seems to work fine. Using Zope 2.3/Python 2.0 on FreeBSD Thank you, Lucas Taylor

Using a Postgres database
by Kit O'Connell 09 Feb '01

09 Feb '01

A user of my Zope site I'm developing for work needs access through Zope to a postgres database. I poked around in the helpfiles a bit but haven't been able to find anything that will tell me how to do this. I gather I have to add a source so that when I 'Add a Z Gadfly Database Connection' I can see it. I don't know where to start though. Any help would be appreciated, even if it is as simple as pointing me to the right documentation. Cheers, Kit

Mananged to dodge the problem by upgrading to a slightly newer version of the product that changes the naming scheme of the files to one that doesn't include and URL-illegal characters. But neat trick with the python script... Hadn't thought of that, but I'll remember it in case I ever run into a similar problem... > > Dieter -- Geoffrey L. LoginManager with ZOracleDA
by Marcos Iuato 08 Feb '01

08 Feb '01

Hi, I am trying LoginManager Version: 0.9.4 using ZOracleDA to connect to the Oracle database. Everything works well, but when I delete a login from the database or change the password from user, this modifications has effect just after restating the Zope. Someone has any idea why this happens? Thanks Marcos

Zope-Video was: 2.3.0 really not Beta?
by Stephan Goeldi 08 Feb '01

>As you offer commercial Zope hosting it would be quite easy for you >to provide the German Zope video for download. > >Denn Du bist nicht der Einzige deutschsprachige Zope-User ;-) >Zeig mal, was Deine Service wert ist! OK, it is on http://www.goeldi.com/video The unzipped video is in AVI format. It is only about the /manage and the clicking on "change" and on "view". Not more. As I mentioned, it is done for dummy managers who think Content Management is only possible with GoLive or frontp~1.age It is in German. And there is - of course - promotion for my service. But you wanted it ...
