The only difficulty would be, that the CD-ROM is about 150MB. There is a Zope video and some other web specific presentation. And it is in German. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

Multi Language Zope SIte
by Diego Rodrigo Neufert 08 Feb '01

08 Feb '01

Hi, In my spare time I'm making a new page for my university class. But we want a multi-language site. What's the best way to do that on Zope? I'm thinking about create a translation folder with all the text from the site. With every frase is a DTML Method like: <dtml-if "SESSION['lang']=='pt_BR'> Como vai você? <dtml-elif "SESSION['lang']=='en_US'> How are you? </drml-if> The other way I figure out is just to create one page in English and another in Portuguese... But the page is very dynamic and if I do this when I change something in one version I will need to change in the other too.. I use a *LOT* of Ext Methods, that's why I dont want to do this and we are planning to translate the page to spanish, duth and italian too... What do you guys think about that? -- Diego Rodrigo Neufert ----------------------------------------------------------- Curitiba - PR - Brasil

>I have no such problems. Nice for you >Again, 2.3.0 works for me pretty nice in this aspect. >I am going to switch to VirtualHostMonster, but now I use SiteRoot, and I >am satsified. Do you have different domains under the same tree? In my installation there are about 10 domains on 1 server. 9 domains work perfect, 1 does not. >It was declared "stable" exactly because no one caugth such behaviour. In >the world of free software it is *you* who test software, send patches to >authors, etc. No one ought to do something special for you. Why didn't you >test 2.3 betas and caught these errors? Ah, you want only stable software! >Then pay for it! Either you must (I said "must") pay with your time (test >betas, make patches) or you can pay money. It doesn't seem to be a good day for you, does it? Your definition of the word 'stable' seems to be the Microsoft definition, which doesn't work too. There I pay for software and it isn't stable anyway. I don't think that the people of DC think the same like you. They are interested in a stable and working Zope, and therefore their support on this list is professional and perfect. Of course Zope is not open source only because of philantropic thoughts. There should not only be the fact, that it is free, but also the fact, that a declaration of 'stable' really is trustable. OK, let's say 2.3.0 is really stable. What is the difference, which made Zope go away on my redhat server? Is there anything different in installing 2.3.0 than 2.2.5? I made the upgrade exactly as described in the Upgrading-Howto. >Why didn't you test 2.3 betas and caught these errors? Because I am not a programmer. I am an administrator and webdesigner. Without this class of users, there would be no use for Zope. Except for your hobby. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

Geting objects from user
by Ben Edwards List Acc 08 Feb '01

I know you can give users access the zope inteface so they can move files from there local file system into zope but is there a way of including this in a zope application (i.e. I have my own form I which a user to be able to do this from). I would also want to have control over what the object is called. ben -- ben(a)videonetwork.org +44 (0)7970 269 522 http://www.subvertise.org -- Altering the Corporate Image http://www.criticaldistribution.org -- Buy Alternative Video Online http://www.videonetwork.org -- Community/Radical Video http://www.spamcop.net/ -- Killing SPAM feels good!

Just been reading it (I ignored it at first cos I thout it was simply a discusion about freebees. Anyway I would not describe it as a flame war. > Really? OT: Upgrading postgresql
by Steve Drees 08 Feb '01

08 Feb '01

I'm gonna bite the bullet and upgrade to the 7.0.x branch of postgresql (from 6.5.3) on a production server. Has anybody done this already and have some pointer, especially with regards to keeping the ZPygresqlDA product working?

Zope dumping core
by Dario Lopez-Ksten 08 Feb '01

08 Feb '01

Hello! I am runing zope 2.2.5 on a Solaris box, and it is dumping core (suspect: SQL MEthods with oracle, FTP server). I am using it in conjunction with oracle. Could this be the culprit? Any help is appreciated. If we cannot get Zope to be stable we'll have to abandon it; this is not on my list of preferred actions, but we have very little in zope at the moment, jet it is unstable. We'll soon need to start moving to production and more heavy testing. DC: what do you charge for technical support? Contact me off list, please. Do any of you have any hints on how to track down the source of the failing. AFAIK I have set up everything to log as much as possible, but there is no hint of anythin in the logs. Also I don't know how to read the logs. I'll poke around the sources, but if anyone has some info they'd like to share, i'd appreciate it a lot. Any chance of stopping the flame war, or take it off list (I know I am not totaly inocent) but people may want to use the list for other things ;-). >>This is not true .
