Re: [Zope] A little help on path namespace

Thanks for all the responses. I think I need to clarify the question. A product I just built "drops" dtml-documents with empty properties at any destination folder, at any part of the tree (as it's supossed a product to work). The product also creates a method within a subfolder, intended to use the properties from the correspondant dtml-document. The product at first inquiries for an id, and then it creates both the object and the method, both sharing the same requested id. Like this: any_folder.objectid (objectid been a document) any_folder.subfolder.objectid (objectid been a method ) In addition to standard header and footer tags, each one of those two objects has one single tag wich calls a method: <dtml-var doc_content> for the document <dtml-var method_content> for the method Each one of these two "submethods"(doc_content and method_content) displays the current object's properties, and are located at the root of the site, so they can be called from any folder. Document 'objectid' renders nicely this way, but I have problems with method 'objectid´, because it must use properties from an object with the same name, but located in a previous folder. How can I do that? I'd love to have something like this (for method_content, at the root) <dtml-with "previous_folder_of_objectid.objectid_translated_to_namespace"> <dtml-var anyproperty> </dtml-with> (where, after resolving, 'the_previous_folder_of_objectid' returns the first previous folder to the one containing the method, that is 'any_folder' ) Thanks for reading until this point. Even when I used them when creating the product, I'm a little confused about namespace and strings stuff, so please include an example if possible. Thanks again, Ausum

Zope messed up
by Edwin Martin 07 Feb '01

Hello, At our site, someone installed the Python functions split2 and string in the Zope root. Due to some error, we cannot post anything now: we can't add articles and we cannot use the Zope content management page. We tried removing removing split2 and string. We can remove is from the harddisk, but it's still in the Zope management page. The management functions (rename, delete) still won't work. Please: how can I delete something from the Zope database with defunct Zope management forms?? Thanks, Edwin. --- Surf Edwin Martin's brainwaves: http://www.bitstorm.org/edwin/

Upgrade weirdness
by Brian Hauber 07 Feb '01

I recently upgraded from Zope 2.1.1 to Zope 2.2.4 (tried 2.2.5 as well) and I'm having some weird issues. Here's what I've done: Installed Zope 2.2.4 Started using INSTANCE_HOME Installed all products Copied over Data.fs* from my old Zope directory into $INSTANCE_HOME/var. When I pull up localhost:80 (I moved the port to 80) I get an error that indicates an AttributeError and __getitem__. This also happens when I attempt to access localhost/manage. I can pull up localhost/objectname but localhost/objectname/manage hangs the browser indefinitely. I'm looking for some ideas/suggestions on how I can fix this. Re: [Zope] zope and servlet

It seems that the Zope developers is not really interesting by a java integration - Why ? At least, ejb & servlet are well used in a lot of companies. So, a product like Zope is usefull for them if and only if it can call some requests to some java components from zope. Javascript help!

Oops . . . I got a little too user friendly in the prior post. The array reference should be : document.form.elements[array_position].value and the function has to be called as: function el_count (g) or else you have to replace all the 'g.' names with whatever you are refering to your form_name as. Later, Jerry S.

Excavating for Clues

Hi Zope Fans, I've been spoending too much time the last couple of days trying to come up with a clean way to solve a little problem. Some old posts that I've been perusing may be related, but that's not certain. Anyway, here goes. Jim Penny followed up after: > Dieter Maurer wrote: > > > Oliver Vecernik writes: > > > > > I'm designing an application gathering data with forms. Well, except that I seem to be having exactly the opposite problem. When I call "REQUEST.redirect(other_url)", the REQUEST isn't destroyed, in fact all the parameters are retained, right down to the original method, so that a "get" method passes parameters appended to the URL, and a "post" method includes all the original REQUEST parameters in the header. Not what I need. All I want to do is to pipe the output of a page generation process back to the requestor (a PDF file, in this case), so that it appears to be a page being returned in response to a get, submitted with no parameters. I've also tried "REQUEST.setBase(other_url)" and just "REQUEST(other_url)" but the differences are so subtle as to be undeteactable (by me, at least), and the parameter passing confuses the browser to the point that it has no clue how to handle a garden variety PDF file, and the user has to hit "refresh" to wake it up. Actually, so far I'm just trying to do a real redirect to a real PDF file, but I feel like I need to get that working before I tackle the file generation + pipe part. Thanks for any help, Jerry S.

It is hard coded in "OFS.DTMLMethod.default_dm_html" and "OFS.DTMLDocument.default_dd_html", respectively. Of cause, you can change the code.... But, you can also go for a ZClass. Give it an "index_html" method that combines a header, the content and a footer. Let your user only be concerned with the content. Dieter

You can selectively (unfortunatly only globally) allow import. The list archive will tell you the details. It is something like (in a product): import module; module.__allow_access_to_unprotected_objects=spec with "spec" set to "1" for unrestricted access to all module variables and "spec" set to a dictionary mapping to "1" for controlled access. This seems a bit harsh, I can imagin the headlines, OPEN SOURCE COMUNITY BAN FREE EMAIL. Also it is worth noting that replying to this kind of stuff is not a good idea. If the return address actually exists (which is unlickly) sending a message (even a remove one) simply confirms that your email address is live and a good one to spam! >Maybe a bit off topic, but is it feasible to block access to >mailinglists in general from free e-mail addresses like Hotmail, MSN, >Excite, Yahoo! etc. to avoid these kinda messages? > >Or are there simply too many developers and programmers using such a >free e-mail address? > >Cya >Jonathan > > >_______________________________________________ >Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org >http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope >** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** >(Related lists - > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) > >
