help with LoginManager

I followed HowTo for using LoginManager with SQL, and when I try to access a page that is covered by that LoginManager, I get this:  It looks like it is correctly trying to display the "loginForm" rather than the page I requested, so that seems normal. But the "loginForm" itself does not display, only the zope error. What does it mean? How can I find out what the problem is? Thanks, JJ

Product catalog/how to handle graphics?

I am currently implementing a product catalog, which is both viewed and updated online. I have been using MySQL to store the data. Firstly I should say that I am very impressed with zope. I have probably spent around 4-5 days (i.e. 4-5*8 hours) and have set up zope and MySQL, done the site templates and created modules to add/modify product, display the catalog and display items for an individual item. The only thing that is missing is how to handle the graphics. Each product has a thumbnail (100*100) and a main graphic (400*300). Importing the graphics into zope and telling the database where they are is obviously the simplest solution but as all the rest of the data is in the database I really want to put the graphics there two. I guess there are two sides to this: 1) Put a couple of File Browse fields on the form used to add new products/edit existing ones. Then find some way of tacking this file from the local file system and getting it in the database (probably as a blob datatype). 2) Retrieving the image from the database and getting it to appear in a webpage (I guess a temporary stage or extracting the image from the database into zope may be required). The problem is I don't know how to do either of these things and also am not sure if I am going about the whole thing the right way. The reason I like using a database to hold things is because it has enables me (up to now) to not have to use any Python. As you can imagine this is very good for me as I am very new to zope and do not know python (also I knoqw a lot about rdbms). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ben PS I am thinking of doing some HOWTOs (like the inserting data into a database) such as inserting/modifying data from forms and displaying data from a database (single records and multiple records). This would form a kind of using zope as a front end for rdbms primer. Do people think this is worth doing.

calling dtml method from external method

Hello all, I've created a simple DTML method, named TestZopeTime, to illustrate a problem I'm having: <html> <body> time: <dtml-var "ZopeTime()"> </body> </html> When I invoke this method directly through a web browser, I do get what I expect -- a display of the current time. No problem. However, when I try calling this DTML method from an external method, I get the error report: "Name not found or not allowed: ZopeTime" I can comment out the ZopeTime() call, and see that the External method is able to complete a call to the DTML method. I've tried installing ZDebug just now, but that hasn't given me any clues yet. I also re-read the "How-To: Using External Methods". My external method looks like this: def MyExternalMethod(self, PARMS): return self.TestZopeTime() I've also tried: def MyExternalMethod(self, PARMS): return self.TestZopeTime(REQUEST=self.REQUEST) It seems like a through-the-web call to a DTML method sets up a different namespace than when I call the same method from an external method. Handling created objects, not in the Zope database

Hi, I am trying to map data from my SQL database into a list of ZClass objects. For all entires found in the SQL database I want to create temporary instances of ZClass objects, so that I can use the different methods in the class. The dtml-in call attempts to validate these elemets which causes the pop-up logon box to appear. I have tried to turn of validation in the source code and all my elements are displayed properly. Its a good idea if people say what platform they are using. I got the MySQL stuff working (Win32) but the icon for the mysql connection is missing. would'nt mind but where its graphic should be there is a missing graphic box around 150 pixels wide which realy screws up the presentation. Problem to add an Instance of my own product

Hi ! I have just created a new product in ZOPE. Everything is great, but how I can add an instance of this product without using the management-screen of ZOPE. I want to add a new instance with properties in any folder I like using DTML. Thank for helping. Steffen

problem with ZUBB / no topic set

Hello, after installing ZUBB (ZDiscussions 0.6. right?) everything works fine with the single exception that the topic of no message gets set. That means, after posting, all messages show "(no subject)". The message preview HTML source still shows the correct value in the hidden input form tag named "title". Could the problem be a clash between the "title" form entry and the title of another Zope object? I am using ZDiscussions-0.6 and Zope 2.3.0. thanks --Oliver
