results from a ZSQL method
by Allen Wallis 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

Hi, Thanks again for the help with the let and with tags... I am making slow progress, but now can't seem to display my results from a ZSQL method. How are the results returned? If they are in some RESPONSE object, how would I read the items out? So far, I have an SQL query which I'm fairly sure is working, and whcih when tested gives the results I expect, but when I use it in the following bit of DTML, nothing is rendered at all: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('cmatch', 'sup_name')"> <dtml-var searchMySQL> The <dtml-var searchMySQL> line returns nothing, even though I know that there are results for that method. Apologies if I'm missing something I should be picking up from searching the archives, but at the moment our connection is bogged down with lunch time traffic, so I can't even get to the zope site. thanks Allen

Separate data from control automatically
by Sin Hang Kin 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

Is it possible for zope to separate control from data automatically? To make the best use of Zope, it will be necessary to separate the data and control. with XML, DOM will assign id for each node and thus all of them can be refered by that id. Is it possible for zope to perform this? Will a modify of load_site able to do this semi-automatically? (run load_site over an existing zope tree?) Rgs, Kent Sin

testing for existence of value in SQLtable
by Rik Hoekstra 29 Mar '00

Is there an easy way to test whether a value exists in a SQL table, so that I can do something like this in a ZSQL Method: <dtml-if> [here follows the test for the existence of a value in a table] insert items into table </dtml-else> update item in table </dtml-if> This problem probably came along before on the lists, but I can't find it anymore... External Method 3
by Tom Deprez 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

Ok, now I found the error. The error must be in the while loop, where we say 'iterate until the obj = None'. However 'None' is never reached... (I guess). The following code works, but I this isn't at all a good solution. Can someone tell me how I can safely test that the current object is the first object in the object database. In other laguages you can test this with 'nil'. How can I test this within Zope? Please, tell me! def GetParentNames(self): result=[] obj=self while obj.title != 'Zope': obj=obj.aq_parent if obj.meta_type=='KBItem': result.append(obj.Title) return result Thanks in advance, Tom.

FW: [Zope] Code returns text instead of HTML
by Baker, Dennis (sjmr) 29 Mar '00

I get a key error without the Quotes. Nick Garcia's Suggestion to use the dtml-with tag worked... I thought I'd tried that though. -----Original Message----- From: Dimitris Andrakakis [mailto:dandraka_info@yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 28, 2000 4:01 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Code returns text instead of HTML Try using just this: <dtml-var Eligibility.MemberInfo> Dimitris Andrakakis http://atlas.central.ntua.gr:8000/~mc94068 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Baker, Dennis (sjmr)" <DBaker(a)CHW.edu> To: <zope(a)zope.org> Sent: Wednesday, March 29, 2000 2:24 AM Subject: [Zope] Code returns text instead of HTML > Sometimes when I reference other dtml documents I get the dtml code returned > as text, rather that outputting HTML like it should. include/import module
by Allen Wallis 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

Hi, How do I import a module - I've been reading the DTML guide, and I would like to use some of the functions described in the string module, but how do use them - do I have to import the module (if so, how), or what else. What I want to use is the following: <dtml-if expr="lower(somestring)=='supplier'"> </dtml-if> where lower is defined in the string module. I've also tried string.lower(...) but that didn't seem to work. thanks Allen
