web folders - advice requested...
by Kevin August Meinert 29 Mar '00

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I want to implement a "web folders" style interface. For examples see: www.yahoo.com, www.netscape.com, http://directory.google.com/ I think http://directory.google.com/ is the best example, but anyway... I'd like to be able to edit the entries with a web browser, and be able to attach files to the tree - like PDF docs, and jpg/gif/png pictures. I'm guessing I could do it with MySQL... what does everyone think? Is there a Zope plugin that already does this. Does someone have some code laying around you could send me? Im basically looking for a good place to focus my efforts on, for now. Thanks! email me at KevinMeinert(a)bigfoot.com Kevin -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 6.5.2 for non-commercial use <http://www.pgp.com> iQA/AwUBOOAkHjlszdAdzf4MEQLJ0ACgjnTKnF7N7XotUUVHqLfExLrum38AoJVw zQFwoNNk7xRQTbsGrFYbt2cw =0HT1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

operations with dates
by Dimitris Andrakakis 29 Mar '00

Hi there, This must be simple, but I haven't found it in the docs. Can I get ZopeTime to give me the date, say, 20 days ago ? Or a month ago ? Something like (yes I know this won't work) <dtml-var expr="ZopeTime - 20") Dimitris Andrakakis http://atlas.central.ntua.gr:8000/~mc94068 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Serving external files
by Allen Wallis 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

Hi, I have some questions about serving external files: I want to be able to serve a file that is external to Zope's Object database. This file would probably be a binary file. So far, I have an external method that reads the data from the file, and sets the header of the RESPONSE object passed to it. The external method looks something like: def readFile(self, REQUEST, RESPONSE): ... data = f.read() # where f is the binary file, and has been opened RESPONSE.setHeader("Content-Type", "application/data") return data The zope id of the external method is "getFile". I have a dtml method that calls this external method, using <dtml-var "getFile(REQUEST, RESPONSE)"> The id of this dtml method is "download". Say I have a dtm document with something like <a href="download">SomeFile.dat</a> This works, and the file is downloaded correctly. I want to know firstly whether there is a better way of achieving this. Secondly, when the user clicks on the SomeFile.dat hyperlink, and the browser's "save as" dialog pops up, the browser uses the id of the dtml method "download" as the filename in the dialog. Obviously I would rather this dialog shows the name of the file that will be downloaded. How can I change this? I can't rename the dtml method suitable for each different filname that might be downloaded, so where else can I alter this behaviour? Thanks Allen

Code returns text instead of HTML
by Baker, Dennis (sjmr) 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

Sometimes when I reference other dtml documents I get the dtml code returned as text, rather that outputting HTML like it should. For example, the code I have below will print out the standard header properly and then display the raw html where the Eligibility.MemberInfo document should be. What am I doing wrong? <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-in SQL_ViewMember> <dtml-var "Eligibility.MemberInfo"> </dtml-in> <dtml-var standard_html_footer>

BASE tag on File objects
by Jon Prettyman 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

I've got a number of static HTML files on my site that Zope keeps putting BASE tags into. IMHO, it is inadvertantly appending a slash onto the end of the HREF. For example a file called default.htm in the classified directory ends up with a base tag of: <base href="http://www.nationalmortgagenews.com/classified/default.htm/"> I would think this should be: <base href="http://www.nationalmortgagenews.com/classified/default.htm"> So I have modified: OFS.Image.File.index_html to strip the trailing slash by adding: # clean up the base if neccessary if( RESPONSE.base[-1:] == '/' ): RESPONSE.base = RESPONSE.base[:-1] What think you? -Jon

dtml-in size error
by mauricio_sl＠uol.com.br 29 Mar '00

29 Mar '00

This one goes especialy to ho write zope. I have found that the dtml-in has a problem when you specify a batch-size that is less than the double of the length of the input list. Ex.: a list of 6 itens: when size is 3, dtml-in returns 3 itens, correct. (3*2 <= 6) = true when size is 4, dtml-in returns 6 itens, error. (4*2 <= 6) = false Is this a bug?
