I have a Zsql Method with argument (for example) "DIS06_UTENTE" and the query template is the following; select * from DIS06 where <dtml-sqltest DIS06_UTENTE type=string> I want to insert my input data with the small letters and read it in the query template with the capital letters. What can I do? Thanks in advance for Your help

methods of a few zope objects

Greetings: I'm looking for documentation on the methods and variables of a few internal zope objects, so I can use them in external python code. Namely the file object, the image object, and the DTML method object. I have no problem poking through source code, if I know which file to look in. Not to start a "what IS client server?" discussion (I thought we got past that in the last millenium), but it looks to me like Zope IS the middle layer. In terms of layers, the browser "front end" handles presentation (client), the "back-end" (data server, host) is an RDB, or CD tower (of image files), or whatever, then the integration layer "middle" is Zope. It really doesn't change whether you call it "middleware", "application server", "content manager", etc. In other words, Zope is where you get to build in the business logic, as objects, and find relief from the narrow bounds of SQL. Of course, the Zope layer can be fairly complex and is subject to being defined as having multiple layers within itself, but that's another thread.

Hi, Is there anyone that could tell me how to work with the Tiny Tables.? I need this because I have a form and I will use the Tiny Tables to save the information that I will send throught the form. Pedro, might make a couple of suggestions. Most of your questions seem to be of a nature of getting started with specific segments or products within Zope. When I began my quest for the Zen of Zope, I went down the following path. 1) Try to read the product docs (realizing that not all contributed products have it) 2) Search through the How-Tos to see of there are examples (of which there are MANY) 3) Going to the E-Mail Archives to make sure that I was not having trouble with something that had been covered 45 times before in the list. 4) Used what (in many cases was very little) information that I had found to struggle through my problem at hand. The best way to learn something for good is to have to struggle through it. 5) Only after I felt that I had exhausted all my options would I ask a question. And when I asked a question I made sure that it was specific and to the point. For example instead of asking 'How do I change a tire?" (Which I would have had to ask prior to step 1 above) I would be informed of the situation and be able to ask, "How much torque should I use when tightening the nuts in a replaced tire?" 6) And finally, when I have it all figured out, if it is something that I think would be of value to the group that had assisted me, I would try to toss my knowledge back into the community so that the next person who searched the mail list archive would be able to move along the path of Zope enlightenment as I have. And finally through all of this realize that no one is getting paid to live on this mail list. Any responses are from the goodness of peoples hearts. We are more than willing to help each other when someone is stuck on an issues that someone else has solved; but no one is creating my site for me and I don't expect anyone else be building my site. Second, there is a command-line utility (loadsite.py, in the $ZOPE_HOME/utilities directory) which already does the stripping you talk about when loading HTML files into Zope from the local file system. Extracting that code for use in a PythonMethod should be very straightforward. This technique should work reasonably well for "one-way" migration (moving from Word to Zope), but will be somewhat problematic trying to "round-trip", I think (Word may get confused trying to open/browse/edit/save the document once it is in Zope). The Events folder and contents will be recreated (empty). I assume this helps, at least I haven't received negative feedback yet. Hi, I have a form with manu fields. How can I make that the name field just can take letters.? Example: Name: can just have a name with letters Address: can receive letter and numbers Phone: just numbers Can anyone tell me how to do this in the dtml-method that will verify the values of the fields? HTML filtering

Zopistas, I've run into a little something that I thought might be interesting. I run a site that accepts input from users in textboxes, and renders them afterwards on the public pages. The problem is, I want to filter out any HTML-tags in the textboxes, so users can't include their own html on my page. FOr example they shouldn't be able to insert <img> tags on the page. I first thougt that if I rendered the text as structured text, maybe those nasty HTML tidbits would disappear, but they didn't. So my question is twofold: 1. Is there a way of formatting the text (except <pre>, which is a bit crude :), so the HTML gets filtered out? 2. If not, would this maybe be a useful addition to the next version of Zope? Something á la "<dtml-var textentry fmt=filteredtext>"? Maybe to have different levels of filtering, e.g. to allow tags like <p> and <li> but disallow all the other tags. This is a must-have feature when you have users you do not trust 100%, and so it should be a part of Zope, IMNSHO. Alexander.
