HELP: can't get Admin logon to work!!!

I can't seem to get the superuser logon to work. I have tried the zpasswd.py utility, restarted, etc. ... several times. I try to log on from the localhost or other machines on LAN and I can't get in. How can I definitively RESET the damned superuser password in the access file??? Thanks for your help.

Roxen and incorrect Content-Length: header

Is anyone aware of Roxen+Zope returning incorrect Content-Length: header information? I've searched the list archives and found Bill's comment about Roxen needing to be patched, but it doesn't indicate where the patch comes from, what the bug is (is it this one?), or what versions of Roxen the bug is in. Background: Linux (RedHat 6.1) Using roxen-1.3.122-2mdk.i586.rpm from http://www.ls-la.net/roxen/roxen-1.3.122-2mdk.i586.rpm (was previously using tar.gz binaries of 1.3.122 from www.roxen.com) Using Zope 2.1.2 compiled from source. Using python-1.5.2-7.1386.rpm from Redhat Set up Roxen according to magnus: http://www.zope.org/Members/magnus/Roxen Bill Anderson: http://www.zope.org/Members/Bill/Documentation/RoxenZope I am able to use Roxen and Zope, but some pages (some but not all with RXML tags (<gtext>)) get truncated. If I go directly to Zope, the page has Content-Length: of 4202 bytes: >>> ZPublisher.Zope('Personnel/WorkWithEmployees/AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm', u='xxxx:yyyy') Status: 200 OK X-Powered-By: Zope (www.zope.org) Python (www.python.org) Content-Length: 4202 Content-Type: text/html ... If I go the the page with Netscape then look at the page info, the Content-Length: is 4202 bytes. Looking at the page source, it is truncated. Save the page to disk the size of the file is 4202 bytes. $ ls -l AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm.netscape -rw-rw-r-- 1 belrick belrick 4202 Jan 26 13:15 AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm.netscape If I grab the page with wget, the Content-Length: is 4181 but it successfully downloads 4422 bytes: $wget --verbose --http-user xxxx --http-passwd yyyy http://pallas/Personnel/WorkWithEmployees/AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm --13:28:15-- http://pallas:80/Personnel/WorkWithEmployees/AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm => `AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm' Connecting to pallas:80... connected! HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 401 Unauthorized Connecting to pallas:80... connected! HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 4,181 [text/html] 0K -> .... [105%] 13:28:15 (308.45 KB/s) - `AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm.4' saved [4422/4181]) If I truncate the file obtained with wget at 4202 bytes and compare it with the file saved from Netscape, they are identical: $ dd bs=1 count=4202 if=AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm of=AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm.wget.trunc $ diff AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm.wget.trunc AddEmployeeEmailAddressForm.netscape (no diff) I've tried using the --save-header option to wget to see if there is anything funny in the header and this is what it shows: HTTP/1.0 200 OK X-Powered-By: Zope (www.zope.org) Python (www.python.org) Content-Length: 4181 Content-Type: text/html Server: Mystery Server/8.7 Now, I can speculate that the difference between the 4202 and 4181 is wget using HTTP/1.0 and Netscape using HTTP/1.1 (does it?). What I can't explain is why Roxen does not modify the Content-Length: when it processes things like <gtext>. The 4422 bytes that wget successfully downloads is the entire page. Cheers... Help! Cascade initialization and acquisition

Hi, I guess this is a well-known problem and must have a well-known answer. I have subfolders inside folders and sub-subfolders inside subfolders, etc. I would like to store some initialization actions in a method called init_dtml inside some of these folders. (Much like constructors.) Now, when a user visit the sub-sub-...-subfolder, before displaying the index_html, I would like to invoke these init_dtml methods from the top of the folders down to the sub-sub-...-subfolder. All this is much like the cascade constructors in object-oriented programming languages: you invoke the base class constructor before the subclass constructor. The big question is: how do I do this? I have cracked my head without reaching a simple solution. Mail Form: How to add attachments

I am a Zope newbie, who just made a mail form within Zope. In this mail form I have the following inputs: * To (recipient's email) * Subject: * From (sender's email) * Text I also have a "send" button, which sends the email. Everything works fine, but I would like to have the possibility to send emails with attachments from the mail form. The user should have the possibility to add these attachments to the email direct from his local PC. Does anyone have an easy solution? Saludos, Martin Sandberg --

manage_addFile

I'm trying to take a file that is input to a form and create a file object. However, the Content Type is always listed as "text/plain", and the content is simply the path of the original file, instead of the file itself. Here is my code: <dtml-call "manage_addFolder('foo')"> <dtml-call "foo.manage_addFile('bar', REQUEST['sgmlfile'])"> and here is the form: <form action="howto_add"><table> <tr><th>Author</th> <td><input type=text name=author></td> </tr> <tr><th>SGML file</th? <td><input type-file name=sgmlfile></td> </tr> <tr><td></td><td><input type=submit value=" Submit "></td></tr> </table></form> Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong? Also, I tried looking through the source code for manage_addFile to see how it works, and I couldn't find it. Can anyone tell me where it is? Thanks in advance, Alice

Status of official documentation

Hello zopers! What's going on with the Zope Guides? Does anyone have the "scoop"? I understand that some time ago there was a initiative within D.C. to work on the docs - what came of that? It seems the ZDP is steadily picking up speed, and even I'd like to contribute, but I feel I don't yet know nearly enough about Zope at all to make any contribution. Unfortunately I'm one of those people that can only learn well either by a.) taking it apart, and trying to put it back together, b.) pushing all kinds of buttons and watching what happens, or c.) reading some extensive documentation with lots of examples. I can't take Zope apart and there aren't any neat little buttons to push; it seems to me that the cosmic complexity of Zope bundled with a lack of complete documents (no offense, Pam...) make insignificant little newbies like my twirl in a circle of confusion and fall over......help? Eron

Changing title of folder

I've made a ZClass which subclasses Folder (and CatalogAware). I'd like to be able to specify a title for each instance that is created (always the same title). I have used manage_edit() in the ZClasses' add constructor before, but I can't find the syntax for Folder's manage_edit()...
