Now that was weird......I just removed the <dtml-with> tags after updating some property values and it works... Methinks something strange is going on...But it works now... ???? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Edward Muller / Firm Wide Architecture - Systems Architect Paine Webber - 1000 Harbor Blvd. 5th Floor - Weehawken, NJ 07087 201-352-0190 - 201-272-7002 (fax) - mailto:emuller@painewebber.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- > -----Original Message----- > From: Edward Muller [mailto:emuller@PaineWebber.COM] > Sent: Thursday, October 28, 1999 10:18 PM > To: 'zope(a)zope.org' > Subject: [Zope] FW: [Zope] object Items > > > > I think I figured it out....(I think) > > When I wrap the objectItems call with <dtml-with > aq_parent></dtml-with> it > works....????? > > Can someone tell me if I'm crazy, need to fix something else...or just > clarify why I had to do this.... > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > Edward Muller / Firm Wide Architecture - Systems Architect > Paine Webber - 1000 Harbor Blvd. 5th Floor - Weehawken, NJ 07087 > 201-352-0190 - 201-272-7002 (fax) - mailto:emuller@painewebber.com > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Edward Muller [mailto:emuller@PaineWebber.COM] > > Sent: Thursday, October 28, 1999 9:40 PM > > To: 'zope(a)zope.org' > > Subject: [Zope] object Items > > > > > > Is it possible to use object Items on ZClass instances? I think I figured it out....(I think) When I wrap the objectItems call with <dtml-with aq_parent></dtml-with> it works....????? We'll The old site (http://www.zope.org:8080, which I presume is on the same machine) runs just fine. Therefore I think the reasoning that the blame lies on the load on the machine is fallacious. I think there's something more going on.

Is it possible to use object Items on ZClass instances? It doesn't want to work for what I have contained in my ZClass Object Instance. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Edward Muller / Firm Wide Architecture - Systems Architect Paine Webber - 1000 Harbor Blvd. 5th Floor - Weehawken, NJ 07087 201-352-0190 - 201-272-7002 (fax) - mailto:emuller@painewebber.com ----------------------------------------------------------------

Mail archiving

chas writes: >Seems like this would actually be a superb product - "mailing list archiver". >Threading in particular would be a great plus. Indeed. From my experience writing Pipermail, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that it's better to create e-mail archives as databases instead of static files that are created by a script, because static files lack flexibility. What do you do with the back archives when you decide to switch from quarterly to monthly, or monthly to weekly? Storing things in a database & rendering them on the fly would grant more flexibility. Another Annoying question...Name Space related I think...

HELP!!! I have created a default ZClass called FWAEvent I added a few properties (title, date, description) on a property sheet with the id of EventInfo. I modified the default FWAEvent_addForm that was created for me to also get the values for the above properties. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to assign those properties in the right place. All of my assignments seem to go to the properties in the container of where I create and FWAEvent instance. I've tried many variations.....But nothing works...below are some of the variations of code that I have tried... <dtml-with "FWAEvent.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'],REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties(title=_.getitem(REQUEST['id']))"> </dtml-with> .or. <dtml-with "FWAEvent.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'],REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties(title=_.getitem(REQUEST['id']))"> </dtml-with> .or. <dtml-with "FWAEvent.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'],REQUEST)"> </dtml-with> (Although I'm still not really sure what the above is supposed to do) .or. <dtml-with "_.getitem(REQUEST['id'])"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties(title=_.getitem(REQUEST['id']))"> </dtml-with> All of the above examples set the title of the container object...Obviously I just don't get something... ---------------------------------------------------------------- Edward Muller / Firm Wide Architecture - Systems Architect Paine Webber - 1000 Harbor Blvd. 5th Floor - Weehawken, NJ 07087 201-352-0190 - 201-272-7002 (fax) - mailto:emuller@painewebber.com ----------------------------------------------------------------

Otto - it works fine with 2.0, I'm using it right now. I wonder why it hasn't been listed on zope.org yet - it's a very useful product. Regards -Simon

Zope.org caching
by Amos Latteier 28 Oct '99

28 Oct '99

Hello Zopistas, I'm writing to let folks know that at the urging of Garth Kidd among others, I've added some new HTTP caching to Zope.org. Now all images should return nicer 'Last-Modified' HTTP headers. In addition, all pages have their 'Expires' HTTP header set for around 15 minutes in the future when viewed by anonymous users. Please let us know (via webmaster(a)zope.org) if this causes you problems. We'd also like to know if you have additional HTTP caching suggestions, tips, or friendly anecdotes. Thanks! -Amos -- Amos Latteier mailto:amos@digicool.com Digital Creations http://www.digicool.com

ZCatalog problems
by Luke Tymowski 28 Oct '99

Hello, I can't seem to convince ZCatalog to index my entire database. It is only cataloging items in the root folder. How do I convince it to go through each child folder? I've gone through the HOW-TO tutorial, but I'm still stuck. thanks, Luke
