Going to the MS site and seeing how slow it is gives me no faith in ASP. Same applies here. The Zope site MUST run fast if people are to trust in it no matter what the technical reason for its extremely slugish performance may be. I've given up looking at it (>1min is my limit).

Very newbie question

Hi all my company will definitely need a content management product and I'm starting to examine some products (before the ties get trapped by sellers with costly and inflexible tools). Zope seems very promising (although the learning curve seems steep) but wandering through the documentation I couldn't see if it has (or how easy is to implement) the two features we need most: - something that checks the broken links AND informs the authors periodically - something that periodically sends to the authors a message such "Your web page/bunch of web pages hasn't been modified since 1/month/year/decade. Do you think the content is still worthwhile?" I guess something similar is already in zope or is very easy to implement for everyone who made a couple of perl scripts in his lifetime, but I'd like to have some confirmation. I have the same error. Same versions, running on Win95. It looks like the wrong thing is being passed to regsub.gsub. Hope someone knows exactly what to fix. In a seminar I was going to give to the lucent web comunity (but due to funding this fell though), I put a lot of thought into what were the main advantages for my use of Zope. I came up with the following: · Maintainability through ZOPE's unique object database that enables a natural separation of data, business logic and presentation, allowing flexible 3-tier architectures. · Support for code reuse and 3rd party plug-in functionality. · Robust and high performance integrated SQL database support that makes creating dynamic data-driven applications simple. · Web based collaborative authoring. · No downtime when making large changes through use of versioning. · The advantages of using an open source and cross-platform technology. · Data intergrety through intergrated transactions. I think since Zope is coming from a more underdog position, a good analysis of where it is better than the 'comercial' competition would be good.

CorruptedTransactionError

I get the sinking feeling I'm in deep yogurt. Before getting this error, I was running Squishdot 0.3.2 (but I've made edits so it is not a pure Squishdot). I have been happily using 0.3.0 for a few days. This afternoon (with no know changes made - but I won't swear to it), I was all of a sudden unable to access my Squishdot site. I got KeyError (which is appended below since it still happened to be cached in my browser). I could still access other parts of my site. Then, after looking around for what could have caused this, I decided to try to restart Zope. Now I can not restart Zope and it says my Data.fs is corrupt. My question is: Is there anyway to fix this? Obviously, I can rename Data.fs and Zope will restart. However, I want to rescue everything I can out of Data.fs. Following hgebel How To: Making a first Zope website (BTW, I think that is great, easy, dumb-proof) I get into errors compiling Zope. Everything works great until I get to the point of finally compiling the beast.
