dtml-tree based on a recursive SQL table

Hi! given a recursive table named <<Category (CategoryID int primary key,parentID int foreign key references Category.CategoryID,name varchar(30)) >> I would like to display that table with the tree tag. On the top-level it should display the categories where parentid=0, for each branch there should appear the categories with their parentID pointing to the categoryID of the branch and so on... (I hope you understand). I scanned all the docs but did not find any solution. I started with: <dtml-tree branches_expr="Category()"> <dtml-var name> </dtml-tree> (Category is a Z SQL method returning the whole table) this displays the top level records but of course not the subcategories. How can I bring the recursion into that ? Thanks in advance Philipp Auersperg

Defining permissions in a base class

Hi, I have a base class that defines some methods and creates some management screens, and is registered using registerBaseClass(). I subclass this base class in several products that add the base class screens to their manage_options. I want the base class to define permissions to control access to these screens and to the class methods. Anything defined in __ac_permissions__ in the base class is ignored completely. If I register this class as a regular class rather than a base class, the permissions appear in the security tab of folders, but they don't affect access in any of the products. I really want to avoid repeating the permission definitions in every new class that uses this base class. Is there any way to include the permissions of a base class in new classes? Hmmmm. Are you running Zope in the local system account (ie the default account for a service?) That account does not have rights to access a network, so probably can not authenticate against the domain controller. Try switching to the account of a user in the domain, and remember to give that user the 'Act as part of the operating system' permission. No real trick, just edit your zserver.sh to call z2.py with both a -p $INSTANCE_HOME/Zope.cgi to service requests from the PCGI mechanism and -also- a "-f 8021" to provide a port for FTP access. ZServer will then listen on both ports. I don't believe this is explicitly documented anywhere but you can see it in the source to Z2.py. You can even have ZServer provide web services on it's own port via the "-w 8080" *and* still use a -p option to listen for PCGI work. Why would you want to? One reason is to use the Apache/PCGI avenue for SSL secure pages and then ZServer-direct avenue for non-secure pages. -Jeff Rush

Dynamically Accessing Subfolders

I want to write a DTML method which iterates over all subfolders contained in a specific folder and execute a DTML method from each of the subfolders that were found. For example, suppose that I had the following folder structure: Folder A Folder B Folder C Folder D In each of the subfolders there is a DTML method called "myName" which answers some string value. For example, myName as defined in Folder B might be "I'm B". When I execute the method from anywhere in the folder hierarchy I want to get an answer similar to: I'm B I'm C I'm D Is there a method that I can call for a folder which will give me it's subfolder names? I'm assuming that if there was such a method, I could use a dtml-in tag to iterate over the results. If there is such a method, what does it return and how could I use that information to send a message to each subfolder in turn? Thanks! James W. FTP/Apache

Is there a way to use Zserver for FTP while using Apache for serving web stuff? (I tried to search the Zope.org site for "ftp" and got an error. Anybody know if this is a known bug or if it should go to the collector? dtml-var null

Does the 'null' tag in <dtml-var null="..."> actually work for anyone? I set it to put ' ' (among other things) in for a database query i'm working on, but it doesn't do anything. I get no output for that var no matter what's in the null tag. the documentation says: For this reason, the null attribute can be used to specify text to be inserted for null values. Null values are defined as values which: o Cannot be formatted with the specified format, and o Are either the special Python value None or are false and yield an empty string when converted to a string.
