howto wrap a perl script

hi, i'm going to execute a perl script on another server, and i would like to know how to: 1/ wrap a zope (pyhton) method around it so i can use zope to manage authorization 2/ display the scripts output to the zope user. Any ideas on how to do this? or links to useful information? I haven't found any howto's for this, and you would've guessed: i'm not a pyhton hacker. I have been playing with this a little... I have (or have borrowed :-)) code that will mostly XMLize an RFC822 message, then put it in Zope... I think, if I or somebody can ever get the properties stuff for XML documents to work correctly, then you've got your database, a file format that is transferrable to whatever (XML), with all the headers broken out, searchable, linkable to others (chain up the references maybe???), etc. Any thoughts that anyone has on this type of application would be of interest... zclass instance problem

Hello, I just created a zclass but I can make an instance of it. The error reported is: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: argument title was ommitted When I choose the zclass from the "Available Objects", the only thing that is asked for is the object id, not a title. So I'm not sure where this error is coming from. Any help would be appreciated. I can't comment on RR since I haven't used it, other than Jim has told me that OD is better at visualizing UML than RR (which is surprising, since the three authors of UML work for Rational). OD is also much cheaper than RR, and Rational has all kinds of 'support' and 'process' products that get you for more money if you go for it. OD could be a great application, but it has serious problems. Nothing too serious that couldn't be fixed with a decent alpha/beta cycle (or an open sourcing! ;) My beef with OD is that it's just *not* final software like they say it is. It could barely be called beta software. Today alone, it has caused me more grief than Microsoft Outlook! If they would fix these bugs and make some other improvements, I would recommend their software. They are responsive with their technical support and are allways helpful with our problems. We met them at LinuxExpo this year (where they had a demo running on NT :/) and they are a pretty small company and very friendly. -Michel PS. ZClass Product Difficulties

I'm having some difficulty with using my ZClass as a Product My Product works fine as I have built it, inside Zope - I can create new 'MyProducts' fine from the "Available Object" dropdown. I then create a distribution with the Control Panel distribution tab. Then I remove my development version of the product, stop Zope, untar the distribution product .tgz in the right place, and restart Zope. MyProduct appears in the Products list OK, but it doesn't appear in the "Available Objects" drop-down, so I can't create one anywhere. I'm going mad trying to solve this so any help would be appreciated! Thanks -- Edd
