Some questions for experienced zopers
by Liz 19 Oct '99

Try this: <IMG SRC = images/img1> Liz Pelletier *********************************************************** 2. I would like to aggregate my images into a common folder off the zope root, something like this: (indenting to show directory structure) / Mysite [_] control_panel [_] acl_users [_] images * img1 * img2 * img3 % index_html % standard_error_message % standard_html_header % standard_html_footer and then call them as <dtml-var images/img1> in index_html. Even though the documentation suggests that this is possible, doing so always returns an error for me.

List All users with a given permission
by Stuart 'Zen' Bishop 19 Oct '99

19 Oct '99

I suddenly find myself with a need to populate a list box with all users with a given permission on a particular object. Is there any nifty method hidden away to do this? Or would I be reduced to crawling up the tree looking for userfolders and iterating over the contents (could be a bit sluggish with 3000+ users...) Perhaps I'll just require tying the username and verifying on form submission :-) ___ // Zen (alias Stuart Bishop) Work: zen(a)cs.rmit.edu.au // E N Senior Systems Alchemist Play: zen(a)shangri-la.dropbear.id.au //__ Computer Science, RMIT WWW: http://www.cs.rmit.edu.au/~zen

UserDB and UserFolders together ?
by Geir B Hansen 19 Oct '99

19 Oct '99

I really like the login-routine on zope.org and i am thinking of implementing UserDB in my site to accomplish something similar. I got a little worried though, from all the mails about deleting user-folders and people getting locked out of their sites... What i am wondering is this: Can i use userdb along with user folders side by side ? ------------------------------------------------ Geir B Hansen geirh(a)funcom.com Web-designer / Graphic artist Funcom Oslo ------------------------------------------------

RE: [Zope] NT User Folder - No Domain support?
by Toby Dickenson 19 Oct '99

19 Oct '99

You can fix this by making some changes to the NTUserFolder source: 1. Change the first parameter from None to the name of a DC, in the calls to NetUserEnum and NetUserGetInfo 2. Change the second parameter from "." to the name of a DC, in the call to LogonUser That looks like it should work, but it is untested. A question for anyone else using NTUserFolder.... Would it be appropriate to change the default to authenticate in the domain?

If a value is selected, then you put the "SELECTED" > keyword in the OPTION tag. ARGH. Perhaps I do not understand your intentions correctly, but here is my take on the issue. It sounds like you need the tag... Example (feed a SELECT from SQL, but it's the same thing...): <SELECT name="category"> <dtml-if "category == link_cat_id"> <OPTION SELECTED VALUE='<dtml-var link_cat_id null="">'><dtml-var cat_text null=""> <dtml-else> <OPTION VALUE='<dtml-var link_cat_id null="">'><dtml-var cat_text null=""> </dtml-if> The example is simplified slightly. Category is SQL method, cat_text is coloumn from the query, containing a description and link_cat_id is the "key" from th query. As I understand it, a ZSQL method just returns a 'sequence-object', thus it can be just about anything. I think this is quite simple: 2 x SELECT tags, 2 x in tags and 3 x if tags, equals 7 lines to handle the SELECT and the SELECTED state of an OPTION. > There has to be an easier way. I'm beginning to think that > a "Utils" folder with common "tag renderers" would be alot > easier than the mess I've been stumbling through for the past > 3 days. > > DTML is difficult. Coding ZClasses purely in DTML is a nasty > experience if you want to do anything useful with the > resulting objects outside of the management interface. I don't agree; it's just another way of doing things... and I'm not a coder ;-) <CUT> -- Best regards / mvh., Steen Suder sysadm kollegie6400.dk OpenSource - Sign of the time

Browser Sticky Fingers
by Jeff Rush 19 Oct '99

19 Oct '99

I'm pulling my hair out here over what is probably a simple HTTP issue. I have a Zope method that stuffs a new image into a Zope Image object, based on the content of the page where the method is called. The problem is that the image is not updated until I exit the browser, and then flush all of it's caches manually. I've turned off any proxy support, configured Netscape 4.x with the option "Document in cache is compared to document on web site [always]", and even run the 'curl' utility outside of the browser that prints the HTTP headers. The headers show that the modified date is changing, the size is changing (different image sizes), and that there is no expire header. I thought maybe I needed one but noticed that no where in the Zope source code do they use one, and when one of their images is re-uploaded via the /manage_upload, it displays correctly. Am I missing something simple? -Jeff Rush

Logging Out
by James Punteney 19 Oct '99

19 Oct '99

Hello, We are trying to figure out how to allow people to log out from our Zope site. The tag brings up a login box, but if the user clicks cancel it does not clear out the authenticated user (if the user clicks "OK" and then "Cancel" it works). Redirecting to a URL such as http://anonymous:nopassword@www.server.com does not work for clearing the logged in user either. In the mailing list archives I read a lot about the userDB and it sounds like it might work for what we need, but I can't find it anywhere on the zope.org site? Does somebody know where I can find the userDb? Or is there some other way to log users out? Thanks, --James Punteney

Bug in nested ZClasses
by Hunter Kelly 19 Oct '99

19 Oct '99

There seems to be a bug in nested ZCLasses. I think the action property for factories of nested ZClasses is being set incorrectly. Simple recipe: Create a new product ("FooProd") Create a ZCLass that is an Object Manager, let's say "Foo". In that ZClass, create another ZClass ("Bar"). In the Subobjects menu of FooClass, add File and Foo, just for comparison's sake. Create an instance of Foo somewhere. On it's contents page, trying to add a Bar is totally broken. Here's the relevant bit of generated HTML: <TABLE ALIGN="LEFT"> <TR> <TD VALIGN="MIDDLE"> To add a new item, select an item type <NOSCRIPT>and click "Add"</NOSCRIPT>. </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD VALIGN="MIDDLE"> <FORM ACTION="http://opal:8080/FooInst/" METHOD="GET"> <SELECT NAME=":method" ONCHANGE="location.href=this.options[this.selectedIndex].value"> <OPTION value="manage_workspace" DISABLED>Available Objects <OPTION value="BarClass_factory">Bar <OPTION value="manage_addProduct/OFSP/fileAdd">File <OPTION value="manage_addProduct/FooProd/FooClass_factory">Foo </SELECT> <NOSCRIPT><INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE=" Add "></NOSCRIPT> </FORM> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> For Bar, I am assuming that the value should be something like value="manage_addProduct/FooProd/FooClass/BarClass_factory" instead of just value="BarClass_factory" Anyone have any thoughts? Could this be a permissions thing, or is this a real bug? Thanks, Hunter
