Disabling buttons

I'm taking over an app that uses a bunch of client side Java. The only reason I can see it uses Java is because it allows you to build logic like "if this radio button is selected, this checkbox is disabled." If there was a way to do this in a combination of DTML and Javascript then the app could use just those technologies. Has anyone got a demo of something like that? I can think of fairly convoluted ways to do it -- is there a straightforward way? Paul Prescod

Here's something simple to do: append a "?randomstring" to the end of the SRC of your IMG tags, ie: <IMG SRC="/Images/myimage_gif?<dtml-var randomstuff>"> Here's a little example that should work. This uses a timestamp to mark the IMG SRC (based on Bill's "HowTo Autogenererate an Object ID"): <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('ts', ZopeTime())"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('randomstuff',_.str(_.int(ts)))"> <IMG SRC="/Images/myimage_gif?<dtml-var randomstuff>"> This won't help you if you're going to render the Image directly, the usual: <dtml-with Image><dtml-var "myimage_gif.tag(randomstuff)"></dtml-with> just isn't going to work. If anyone knows how to append such a string with the Image.tag method, please let us know :) This is the only "simple" workaround I'm aware of to address this issue. - Ian C. ZMySQL Database Adapter - got binary ?

does anyone have a compiled binary version of the ZMySQL Database Adapter ? I see such large amounts of memory here as well -- when I have a 60M database and just two users (it's our demo machine). The OODB contains 30 directories of 20 files each of 100 KB text. When we fire up /manage and peek into one of those dirs, <wham> up goes the load, until I restart the server and then it drops down to nothing. Oddly, accessing the site via FTP seems to place little load, so I presume the Zope persistence mechanism is reading into memory the entire content of each 100 KB object, just to present it in a list on the manage screen. (?) Q: Largest Zope Site in Production

Hello Zope-List, I've been playing around with Zope and Squishdot for about a month now. I really like Zope (and squishdot, of course). I like to use Zope for larger and more interactive websites. Something along the line of e-commerce transactions or web-based training. My question to the Zope list is: has anyone been using Zope for sites where there are more than 100 "users" or "requests" per day? What about 1000? 10,000? 100,000? I'm using the term "users" loosely here. Ideally I would like to see sites that allow users to enter into website through authentication and change, say, their profiles -- much like what the current Zope.org site is allowing people to do. You can also interpret "users" as "requests". I'm simply wondering how Zope is coping with sites that have high traffic (hardware, memory, Linux). Thanks, -james-

In HTML 4.0, form elements have a new property "DISABLED" which does just that. Since Javascript has access to all form properties, it is easy to create a Javascript which says "if this radio button is selected, this checkbox is disabled." If you'd like examples I remember seeing several tutorials on www.javascripts.com . Below is a simple form with some DISABLED elements in it. Problem creating navigation bar

This has probably already been covered many times before, but my scan of the mailing list didn't turn up anything, so here it comes again... I want to build a navigation bar for a folder with each sub-folder having a certain property (e.g. 'isMenu') defined creating a link in the nav bar (i.e. sub-folders without the 'isMenu' property being defined should not be in the nav bar). Seems pretty simple so far. When a sub-folder is selected, I want it to display the same nav bar as the parent folder to allow navigation within this section of the site. The problem is that the nav bar for the sub-folders do not show any items at all (because their PARENTS[0] is not the same as for the parent folder). I've tried a lot of different things (too numerous to list here), but in all cases the acquisition logic defeated my attempts to solve it. I finally got it to work by using the following: <dtml-if "PARENTS[0].id == 'rootFolder'"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('root',PARENTS[0])"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('root',PARENTS[1])"> </dtml-if> <dtml-in "root.objectValues(['Folder'])"> <dtml-with sequence-item only> <dtml-if "_.has_key('isMenu')"> ...<dtml-var id>... </dtml-if> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> The thing I don't like is having to test explicitly for the name of the root folder in the top line, since it prevents me from using the same DTML in some other part of the site. Calling dtml methods in others folders
