Help! Why doesn't this work...

All I want to do is create a list of DTML Documents in a Folder that have a certain property defined. However, every variant I've tried of the following simple code causes an "Infinite recursion in document template" error: <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['DTML Document'])"> <dtml-var "_['sequence-item'].id"> </dtml-in> It seems to be caused by the reference to 'sequence-item', but for the life of me I can't figure out why this should cause a problem. Problems installing Zope

Hello, following doc/INSTALL.txt (the quick start) the first command finishes with "Done." which seems to hint at success. However, the INSTALL description says that I will be given a user name and password. This is not the case, nor can I find any point where the procedure is unhappy. Bravely executing the second command ( ./start ) results in a somehow running zope which of course I can not log in. Furthermore, ./start does not return. Environment: Mandrake 6.1, Roxen Any clue? Multiple DTML-questions

Hello, I have multiple problems with a short DTML thingy I'm putting together. Let's go through them one at a time. I have folder hierarchy (from KM|NetNews) like this ArticleStorage Year Month_x Month_y ... Day_p Day_q Day_r ... Article1_id Article2_id Article3_id So, year, date, month and article are all folderish objects that contain further objects (article contains images that have been submitted alongside the article itself). I have a rudimentary (copied) dtml-code that displays all articles (from any year, month, day): <dtml-in "objectValues('KMYear')"> <dtml-in "objectValues('KMMonth')"> <dtml-in "objectValues('KMArticle')" sort=release reverse> <dtml-if "(release.isPast()) and current"> <H1><dtml-var title></H2> <A HREF="mailto:<dtml-var email>"><dtml-var author></A> <BR> <dtml-var teaser> <br> <dtml-if "text_content"> <a href="<dtml-var "absolute_url() +'/index.html'">">Read more...</a> </dtml-if> <P> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </dtml-in> </dtml-in> So, nothing fancy in that. It looks through all the year objects and through all month objects and through all the day objects and displays all articles that have a release date (release-variable) past now and that are current (curret variable is set to 1). Easy, at least that's how I understand it (i.e. ObjectValues(X) looks through all the subfolders of type X??). There is no good documentation for objectValues anywhere in the DTML Guide (just 2 obscure examples and one reference in index). Now, to my problems: 1. I want to display only articles from year_x, month_x, day_x. Can I somehow only list articles from year_x/mont_x/day_x? How? I can't find any command nor reference how to do this via objectValues. I don't want to make an if-loop inside the above original code that check for all articles (regardless of their folder) that if theyr year, mont and day are the same as today. This would require 3 if statements for ALL of my articles. This would be silly, dont you think? 2. I have a method from KM|NetNews product called add.html and another one called approve.html (these are my modified copies of incoming.html and index.html respectively). I want users with writer role to access add.html and add.html ONLY. I want users with editor role to access add.html and approve.html. Both of these methods are under the KMArticleStorage product folder How do I do this? I can't find anywhere in the documentation ways to define permissions for a single dtml_method (call me thick, but I can't find it!). Also, trying to check the authenticated user with has_role only results in key_error every single time (works on one page, doesn't work on another. There is some peculiar namespace trickery going on here that I don't understand.). 3. If I want to render visible objects that are inside objects (e.g. images that are inside particular folderish article objects), how do I do it? I understand that I can iterate through all of the folder objects (e.g. images) and display their id, the actual image itself and then even give a form submit button to upload a file to replace that image. But I can't figure out the DTML code to do this... I've tried a gazilliion different permutations (with, let, objectvalues, sequence-item, etc. tags) Any takers? ZQR / ZClass / Property Sheets suggestion

In the ZQR, I think it would be worth pointing out at the top of the Property Sheets section that, if you have a property sheet with a non-standard name (as you can easily have in a Z Class), you need to qualify the references to its methods. this works for me although there may be a much better way (probably writing a python method: *********** update sqltable set memofield=<dtml-sqlvar "_.string.replace(_.string.replace(mdata,_.chr(13)+_.chr(10),_.chr(13)),_.chr(10 ),_.chr(13))" type=string> *********** This replaces all carriage-return+line-feed pairs with just carrriage-returns, and then changes any leftover line-feeds to carriage-returns. ==================== This however doesn't address the problem of adding a large amount of memo data (more than 150 to 200 characters) because of the sql statement length (at least with ODBC) limitation. The workaround I found was to write write memo data back in chunks of 120 characters. like below: (This is adding data to a notes field. Previous notes are not editable in our application. We use javascript to clear the previous notes field on the form before submitting, so only the additional notes are sent back. Now I can't get past newlines. I have an input form that uses a couple of textareas where newlines can be inserted. I'm sticking all those form inputs - mostly textboxes, but some textareas - into an mailhost method that calls a SQL method that inserts them into a database. These textarea fields are supposed to go into a 'memo' field in the database that can accept newlines. As long as I put no newlines in the form, the SQL insert goes fine. But if newlines exist, I get parse errors from the SQL interpreter. I can't see exactly what's going to the SQL interpreter because the SQL is not returned. But it's got to be a newlines problem - if there are no newlines in the textarea, there are no parse problems. I tried (in the SQL method) changing the <dtml-sqlvar textitem type=string> to "<dtml-var textitem newlines_to_br>" (adding quotes around the dtml-var to help stringify it) but this made no difference.
