Cool! :-) As someone mentioned, perhaps there's a way to keep the zope.org frame up longer (so people really absorb (hell, even write down :-) web info). Moving Property sheets between ZClases

Hello Zopistas - I am not sure if this question is for the Zope-dev or for here ... I am in the process of creating my first ZClass. I have created a property sheet with about 20-30 properties. Now I have realized that I needed to inherit from one of the base classes. I could not find a way to add the desired base class to the already existing ZClass (something I expected), and I could not find a way to copy the property sheet from the old ZClass to the new one (which I did not expect). Any ideas? Also if I have a bunch of python classes that are not a product in themselves but are going to be used by the ZClass, where is the right place to add them in the Zope tree. Under Shared? hints for improving zope quick start

Hi, here some comments on improving the quick start for Zope newbies. It is what would have saved me time finding it in doc/INSTALL.txt. - better not to have of-scrolling password when issuing python w_pcgi.py. Martijn Pieters already promised to fix it. - please hint at the fact the ./start by default will not return. You should also tell, that removing -D from ./start will switch of this [debugging mode]. - "python zpasswd.py -w auser access" will not ask for the missing password though specifying no arg it will start prompting. It would increase the tools usability to make it more adaptive, because . Additionally: zpasswd.py: I really can't remember the last time I *saw* the password I typed in. I know you're probably all sick of this topic, but here's Thomas Tomcziac's (?) response in the siteserver.general newsgroup to my most recent arguments concerning Zope vs. Site Server: http://x42.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=536727424&CONTEXT=939943722.162594859&hitnu m=0 He argues that Python, and therefore Zope, cannot connect to COM objects (or other ORB systems), and that for this reason Zope is not even really an application server. Its a design criticism. I know he's wrong, of course, but my interest in the topic is waning. Feel free to take exception to his arguments if you care.

Permission Question

Is it me or is it Zope? I have a directory structure something like this: root level1 level2 level3 In level2 I have an acl_users folder which I have defined a user "joe" joe doesn't seem to be able to login in (he logins in at http://www.somedomain.com/level1/level2) joe sees a login screen, therefore we know he has the correct url, but when he types in his User Name and Password he gets an Authorization Failed Screen. If I define joe in the root's acl_users folder then he can log in. Does this mean that all users must be defined in the root, and therefore all roles must also be defined in the root? Oh please let this not be true! DR
