manage* mathods
by Oliver Frommel 14 Oct '99

Hello, when I try to use the "Find" tab in the manage screen I don't seem to be able to find any of the builtin(?) manage* methods as "manage", "manage_main", "manage_access". Where can i find those methods and with which objects are they associated? I'd like to use them as a starting point for our editing system (like using a manage method with less options and maybe a simpler interface for the average user). thanks Oliver

Bug in External Methods?
by Itamar Shtull-Trauring 14 Oct '99

I am creating a new ZClass, that has two external methods. I want them to have their own permission, so I create a permission in the Product that includes the ZClass. I now try to change the permissions on an external method (which is called manage_first), so that View permission is mapped to the new permission I created. I get an error - and I get the same error no matter what I try to map View to. http://localhost:8080/Control_Panel/Products/OrderedFolder/OrderedFolderCla… gives me: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Re: [Zope] Image Problem bug or am I just not getting it??

If you wait (I don't know how long) the new >image will show up. I have the same problem here, but I've tracked it down to whether I access the web site thru the SQUID proxy web server or directly. SQUID seems to be hanging onto image files, for some reason (I know little about SQUID). I've reported this clue to Digital via the Zope Bug database. Maybe someone else can pull it all together. -Jeff Rush

searching for msg-IDs

It's supposed to help you locate a message in the archives, namely: http://www.zope.org/pipermail/zdp/1999-October/000862.html To all: searching for msg-ID's doesn't seem to work in the egroups search at http://www.zope.org/Resources/MailingLists or at Michel's http://www.zope.org:12080/archives/Catalog/S . If someone knows a way, please post. Thanks, - Simon

Actually, Zope's FTP -could- have cookie semantics... the FTP module within Medusa does maintain a session state, as it maps the FTP cmds to HTTP operations behind the scenes. The FTP session could strip off and cache the cookie info on behalf of the user. There would need to be added a new command or two for creating/closing a version, but that's what the FTP 'site' command is for. Such a 'site' command would just invoke the appropriate manage_xxx calls. -Jeff Rush

Upload to Filesystem
by Oliver Frommel 14 Oct '99

14 Oct '99

Hello, I am currently in the process of deciding whether to use Zope or PHP for a web based editing system. While browsing over the Zope email archive I saw some announcements/request of a filesystem based upload system, but not really any replies. What is a good way to upload Files via a web interface to the Zope machine's (not necessarily accessible from Zope after upload) filesystem. We want to serve Real Audio files from this box, too, but i don't think storing hundreds of Real Audio Files in the object store is a good option (and wouldn't work anyway, because the RA Server needs physical access to the RA files). Any possible solutions? thanks Oliver

Is there a way to force a commit ??
by Cayce Ullman 14 Oct '99

I have noticed others asking questions similar to this, but have not seen an answer. It seems that it is not possible to change the properties of a newly cloned zClass within the same DTML in one click. Common sentiment seems to think that the newly created object is not yet set down or commited. Is there any way to force a commit, maybe using dtml-try, or an external method, or something? Thanks, Cayce ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com

It would nice to be able to view a one page hyperlinked list of objects that have been modified and get diffs on the changes to each file. > > Also, using Homesite I can ftp edit the live website but is > > it possible to ftp edit the version? > > Nope. Have a way to map a version to a port. A special version object that lets you specify an ftp port. All objects accessed are those in the version.
