Conceptual problem with Zope 2.0.1 threads

Hi, I hope someone can enlighten me here. I run a Zope system with 6 threads at the moment. Does this mean that if I get 7 requests to the site, the 7th one has to wait until one of the 6 are through servicing the request? I noticed that when my site went live and got hammered by 50-70 students, that things were slowing down a lot. With our Apache server we have over 200 processes running, and I was wondering about the utility of upping the thread count to a higher (much higher?) number. As an example, can anyone tell me how many threads the main Zope site use? Ordered Folders - the result

Here's the working version. I'd be grateful for any comments and bug reports. Description: Add a "First" button to folders, so you can select some items and make them appear first in the list. Therefore, items in a folder are now displayed by order of creation plus whatever changes you made, and not alphabetically as before. The code that does this was liberated from the ZClasses Views page (manage_first in lib/python/ZClasses/Basic.py). Potential problems: Is the line "self._objects = objects" OK as far as multithreading goes? Also, I have no idea if the permissions thing will work. I assume I did it right, but who knows. Attached are a new Folder.py and main.dtml (based off the Zope 2.0.1 release, not CVS), which need to be put in lib/python/OFS. In the managment interface? Or in a DTML method? The first one is more difficult as the management interface does not use a protokoll. But if you want to iterate in a DTML method with <dtml-in> than you can ask the content_order property of that folder to return the id in the given order. You are in test, which has this property. <dtml-in content-order> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-var id><BR> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> If your ordering can be expressed programmatically you can filter the output of objectValues() and return a list with a simple external method. You need to use objectValues() for this. Note that you can look for special objects with this notation. objectValues(['Folder','File', 'DTML Method']) For example this would list all objects in the subfolder test.  <dtml-in "test.objectValues()"> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-var id><BR> </dtml-with> </dtml-in>  HTH __Janko

Displaying contents of folder

I have a folder called test which contains some DTML methods. I want index_html, which resides at the same level as test, to execute all the methods inside test:  <dtml-in test> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in>  This does not work. Hello, I want to do something like <dtml-with "objA.objB.objC"> something </dtml-with> but the "objA..."-part is in a string variable. <dtml-with "stringvar"> or <dtml-with stringvar> don't work... any hints ?? Rename BUG

I don't know if this is a bug. Upload two GIF files, name them as gif1 and gif2. Put a reference <dtml-var gif1> somewhere. The picture shows correctly. Now delete gif1, rename gif2 to gif1, but the <dtml-var gif1> reference still display the old deleted gif1, not the new gif1(originally gif2).

Ordered Folders - take 2

I decided to add the ability of making an object first, as suggested by Janko and implemented in ZClass views, to the standard Folder class, since this should be useful for all folders, so why not? SO if I'm succesful and DC says it doesn't break anything all our Folders will have this capability. I altered the main.dtml file in lib/python/OFS/ by adding these lines:  <INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" NAME="manage_first:method" VALUE="First">  And altered the Folder class by adding a manage_first method which I ripped from lib/python/ZClasses/Basic.py (see below for the result). Now I have two problems: a. Will this method actually work? I don't know enough Python, so I'm guessing here. b. How do I connect it to the web interface so that calling manage_first as a method will actually execute this function? Over 200 Apache processes? That's alot. That's like millions of hits per day capacity if your hardware can handle it.
