Returning a binary file from an external method.

I have an external method that generates a binary file. The content-type I'm trying to use is "Content-type: application/octet-stream". How do I do this in zope? If the just call the method and use RESPONSE.setHeader to change to the content type it doesn't work as the content has been mangled using some sort of encoding.

Printing value based on SQL table lookup

hi all, I have some database tables being accessed via SQL where each record is of the form (key, value). In my Zope product in development, I keep track of all information by key but for user display purposes, I want to show the value. I have SQL of the following form to do the lookups: product_list_by_key_sql(item_id) SELECT product FROM products WHERE key =  and I intended to use it in my DTML pages as follows:  where prod_key is the product key. However, this just gives me an object reference for the Database result class. With further strange hacking I came up with this  which I understandably don't like very much. (nor do I quite understand it). I am fairly new to Zope but not Python. How would others do this? thanks, Michael Wang-Helmke

This works:  Note that this won't automagically include folder-like products or Z Classes descended from Object Manager. There's no objectValues() that has isinstance() behaviour (yet). ZClasses problem

difference between Squishdot and Portal toolkit

Hi everyone, I'm just about to install Zope for the first time and would like to begin developing portal/Slashdot-like for my school district's home page. I'm a science teacher in the district who's being paid this summer to work on the page. I've been lurking on this list for a couple weeks now and reading as much as I can. Zope look awesome! I can't wait to start using it. Before I get to that, I'm wondering if someone could briefly describe the difference between the Zope Portal Toolkit and the Squishdot product. It appears that the ZPT is an official Digital Creations product, while Squishdot is user-created. I know that ZPT requires 2.0.x (which I was going to install anyway). Do the two produts work together at all? I'm trying to figure out where to start. Later, Tim -- Timothy D. Changing server name

I just installed zope for the first time and started to work on a site for my project. The problem is I've installed it with the server name "zope" and now I want to change it so the url don't look like http://www.myserver.com/cgi-bin/zope.exe. I tried to rename the script file but didn't work (server unavailable). Count of folders within another folder?

Hi all, I've got a question that I can't solve myself... in Zope (1.10.2), I've got a site listing a bunch of Linux training centers. In the root folder, I want to include in one of my DTML Documents, a count of all of the subfolders inside of another folder. Root --> Folder (called "centers") --> Folder for each individual center Somehow I want a count of how many folders are found inside of the folder called "centers". I've been playing with the "in" and "with" tags, but so far haven't been able to solve my problem. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I want to configure a folder called "Projects" on my Zope 1.10.3 site for WebDAV. I got that client program, DAV Explorer, and want to use it to connect to Zope. It should be pretty simple, right? I can't find any explanations on configuration on the Zope web site. Also, I went to search this e-mail archive, and it's down. It's the third time I've tried to search it in 3 days.
