Is > there any chance I > can fix it? > Yes, you can truncate your data file at byte position 1156286, and you will be able to load your database again, however, you will have lost data. Recovering zope data

i have just had a power outage and lost a fair amount of work on a test server. As it isn't a production server, it had no UPS. Zope 2.0.0a1 on DHCP?

I have successfully installed and compiled Zope 2.0.0a1 on my home machine, but cannot seem to get it to start. I believe that the reason is that it's connection to the net is a cable-modem, and it's using DHCP. Has anyone else encountered this? I've succesfully installed Zope 2.0 on another machine with a static IP address at work. BTW, I am not so concerned about making this installation externally accessible (though it would be nice), but mainly want to do development at home as well. Setup: Redhat 5.2 Python 1.5.2 (from RPM with threads) Zope 2.0.0a1 Thank you for your attention, Michael Bernstein

adding properties to Image

I wanted to add a "border=0" to an image so I added this via the properties of the image class. But when I print/publish the image, the border property does not show up... Just the width, height, and alt text (which are added by default). Am I doing this wrong or is there another way to do it? thanks Kevin

rewrite rules

I'm very confused. If I attempt to move an apache rewrite rule from where it's referenced in 'startzap' (in the -c ) into conf/zap.conf, everything breaks. (Your browser sent a request that the server couldn't understand.) All I want to do is this: http://myserver/ is the root of zope. http://myserver/whatever/blah is processed by zope. EVERYTHING is processed by zope -- except for one thing: http://myserver/dumbuser/ which goes to /home/dumbuser/public_html/ This works fine when I have this: -c "RewriteRule ^/Zope(.*) $dot/../Zope.cgi\$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l]" in my startzap, and this: RewriteRule ^/dumbuser/(.*) /home/dumbuser/public_html/$1 in my zap.conf. However, I don't want to have to use http://myserver/Zope ... so I do this: -c "RewriteRule ^(.*) $dot/../Zope.cgi [etc etc etc] And then the zap.conf rewriterule stops working. Clues? The biggest reason is actually that we believe entirely in seperating out logic from presentation, which PHP3/etc do not. THe DTML tags are MARKUP tags for formatting (a'la a reporting language) and should not be used for any more logic than you have to. This should be moved either to a DTML Method, an External Method, or eventually ZClasses/etc. More than a few lines gets very ugly very fast. Chris

You're using the src release of 1.10.2, I see. That is why there is no install script, because things are different with a source release. First, a binary release comes with, surprise surprise, binaries of the various Zope python extensions, but it also comes with a binary of pcgi and a binary of python all to itself. The only preperation necesary is to run 'install'. The source release comes only with python and C code. You must use your own python and compile your own pcgi. You do this by running one of two files that compile everything: 'wo_pcgi.py' will set you up to use ZopeHTTPServer or ZServer, and 'w_pcgi.py' will make you a Zope.cgi file for pcgi to use (and thus apache). I'm not so sure about the 2.0.0a1 release, but Zap has not been tested or even looked at for 2.0.0a1 yet. We problaby won't throw any resources into making Zap work with 2.0.0 until it goes final, the idea being 1) we're busy writing 2.0.0, and 2) if your courageous enough to run alpha software then you know what your doing. In fact, I just set up a 1.10.2 release with Zap and it took just a few commands: [michel@spike Zap]$ zcat Zope-1.10.2-linux2-x86.tgz | tar xvf - [michel@spike Zap]$ mv Zope-1.10.2-linux2-x86 training [michel@spike Zap]$ cd training/ [michel@spike Zap]$ ./install [michel@spike training]$ zcat Zap-1.1.0-linux2-x86.tgz | tar xvf - [michel@spike Zap]$ cd Zap/ [michel@spike Zap]$ emacs conf/zap.conf customize to suite...
