Strange date handling problems

I'm getting unexpected results when doing computations on DateTime instances. For example, the following should always result in 'd' being the first of the previous month to 'date': d = date - date.day() # 1999/5/14 - 13 = 1999/4/30 d = d - (d.day() - 1) # 1999/4/30 - (30 - 1) = # 1999/4/30 - 29 = 1999/4/1 Thie works great, unless 'date' is in May, in which case I end up with 1999/3/31 instead. A similar computation to find the first of the next month also gives strange results if the start date is in March. In other words, if the correct result is April Fool's, I get something else instead! Another, more involved set of calculations gives incorrect results for most dates in October, but is fine for any other month. What's going on?

I have to miss something, or perhaps this is a bug??? The funniest part is: if formatting "data:text" works as expected from InputTextForm, then "data" must be of type "non text". DTML calendar widget

The was some talk long ago about calendar support of some kind in Principia. I don't know wwhatever became of that or what kind of features people were wanting, but this weekend I sat down and wrote a calendar DTML widget. You can try a sample instance of it at: http://www.endicor.com/zope/test/Calendar Those of you with Palm Pilots will find the interface familar :-) The sample page is generated with this source:   :    The chunk of code within the calendar tag is used to render the individual cells in the calendar display. It's called for each cell with the name 'date' bound to the date to be displayed, and 'mode' bound to either 'day', 'week', or 'month' depending on what mode the calendar display is in. The calendar tag takes a few optional arguments, including mode to start in (defaults to 'month') and an expression to compute the date to start on (default to current date if unspecified). Anyway, have a look. If you think it'd be useful to you, let me know!

What's "decodestring" in User.py line 388 for? or Begging a step for Internationaliztion. Internationaliztion.

I've got an binascii.Error as the attached file. What I did was to get this error is the following. 1. Adding to a user folder a 'New User' whose id is composed of non-ascii characters. And there were no errors(this is true when I did the same to a user db). 2. Trying to access manage page as that 'New User' What I can see from the source code is 'v'(=validate) in User.py line 388 calls python builtin module base64. And since base64 is 'built-in' and I'm an awfull newbie, I can not guess what is v, decodestring, and base64 do(Obviously, 'v' get name & password for authentication). Ansorry situation. I wish Guido had implemented base64 in python not in C. .... So if anybody knows what v does with what kind of data reveal his sacred knowledge, I'd like to write a python bits to solve this problem(for those with non-ascii character names). I suggest this will be the 1st step for internalization of Zope(though only two guy from Chech & France and me seems interested in that). Quite weeks ago, I did some ugly hack to circumvent a id checking method to be able to add object whose id is composed of non-ascii characters. For IE and Netscape Korean version, there was no problem with that hack. But now I abandoned it, 'cause it's non-standard to use non-ascii chars in URL(very sorry situation though :(. But user's name is not a object id but a part of qurry string. So it seems(at least to me) not a violation of the standard. Being able to type in one's own name in his or her own language is very^3 user-friendly, don't you think so? for Zopal revelation, LEE Kwan Soo.

Zope and Emacs...

In the hopes that I will put an idea in someone's head, it should be fairly easy to come up with a "Zope mode" in Emacs that would grab the pages you want to manage using HTTP, providing the correct headers for validation and the like. Maybe even adapt the Emacs Web browser to do part of the dirty work. Sure would be better than using text areas. dave (who wishes he knew enough elisp to do the job)

zope on mklinux installation problems

Howdy, I've installed Zope on mkLinux running on a PowerMac 8500 (a world first?) but encountered problems which will hopefully be transparently obvious I did the usual gunzip and tar stuff, and then ran the .py script to install the python HTTP server as root, and then ran the serve.sh script under my own account. All of the permissions for ./var were ok. I ran the kfm "web browser" under KDE (Netscape is not out for mkLinux!!) and accessed http://localhost:1234/manage I cannot remember the actual port number but it was the correct one in the Zope doco. I got a "cannot find file, does not exist or permission denied" error. The permissions were ok as I said, and python was running, etc. In fact, when I accessed http://localhost:1234 I got a page returned which does not seem consistent Any help? Tree tag requires password??

Hello... I'm trying to add a tree tag to a folder. I haven't defined any users or anything like that, so I expected the folder to inherit security attributes from the parent (the root dir, in this case, which is also user free). If I include the tree tag, Zope asks for authentication. If I  the tree tag out, it no longer asks for a user/pass. That's not the way its supposed to behave, is it? Is it possible to use the tree tag, without a password?  <a href=""> <img src ="/" border = 0>  </a>  See...nothing tricky... Thanks! Jerry
