ZPublisher standalone w/Apache and no authentication

Hello all-- I tried sending this before. . .must've got lost somewhere. Anyhow, I'm trying to use Apache1.3.4, ZPublisher3.0something and pcgi with a small batch processing application. I've done some testing under ZopeHTTPServer and it seems to work okay. I'm now trying to integrate Zope in with Apache. It works fine if I use the cgi-template example to call my methods, but this doesn't have any explicit state. . .so it really doesn't do what I want. The problem: pcgi tries to start the long running python server and for some unknown reason fails. I don't get any useful error messages even with PCGI_ERROR_FLAG=Y. I've even wrapped python in a small shell to see if I'm losing an exception. . .that doesn't appear to be the case. . .it just exits immediately. I've verified that pcgi-wrapper is being called with the correct pcgi_publisher.py and that pcgi_publisher.py imports okay. As far as I can tell, python is called, executes the pcgi_publisher.py module and exits with a 127 status. I've tried adding logging into pcgi_publisher.py which doesn't really help. . .for some reason it pretty much ignores any statements of the sort: debug = open('/tmp/huh','w') debug.write('some helpful message here\n') I've basically spent a good portion of time on this. I liked pcgi and Bobo when I used it before (Aug-Sep timeframe), but I don't remember what I did to make it work with Apache. I don't remember it being very hard tho' (that was under Apache1.3.1 and AIX). Maybe 1.3.4 and Linux2.0.34 are more troublesome. . .or has the ZPublisher module changed something quite significant (I've read about authentication. . .I don't have any so I don't think it is an issue). Sorry this is so long. . .any help is appreciated. BTW: it might perhaps be useful to have mailing lists based on component instead of help v. devel. That way people can find problems with the component they're using. Not to mention it should help give you less to plod through on egroup's site. Thanks. --Brad

PrincipiaTime with MS-Access ODBC data

I have an Access database that I get to via ODBC. One of the columns is type "Date/Time". I want to see if a record is "recent", as in the previous 7 days. This morning I found that I was unsubscribed to this list when the options set at: http://www.zope.org/mailman/subscribe/zope Were changed to ON without my knowledge: Disable mail delivery Turn this on if you want mail to not be delivered to you for a little while. On The last message I received was Feb 4 1:30PM This is the second time that this has happened. (First on Feb 1st) Has this happened to anyone else? My e-mail account has continued to receive e-mail without problems from other lists and sources. I have sent details to zope-admin(a)zope.org No replies received therefore I am doing this "escalation" to the whole list to see if others have similarly been unsubscribed. I also changed my password .... I know I can read the missing messages at http://www.zope.org/pipermail/zope/1999-February/date.html#start But it is inconvenient.... Thanks. -bobo connor

sql query that has 1 row result

Hello, Let sql_count_bucks be: SELECT count(*) as Number FROM MyBucks I know that this query will always have *one* row, and i want to use this value. Is there a better way of writing this than:  kinda unreadable, isn't it? Another example: suppose i want a document to display an article given the article id in a database. That is, i want to display the article whose id is 2 with http://mysite.com/document?id=2 As id is the primary key, i know there will always be one article that match the query. Is there another (better) way to write:  Article title: <p> Article content: <p>  It's not very important, because this way of writting works, but i wonder, just in case i missed something in the FM. Hi, It is not clear for me why you don't use the ORDER BY clause in your SQL statement. Of course in this case you have to store month number instead of month name in your Gadfly database(to provide the right order). Jeff, I think you should use quotation marks in the if tag:  I haven't found the equal function in the DTML documentation. I have never use it. Have you ever try this: ?
